Hmmmmmm, I'll throw Z'nel and Karowen in for now.
J'ken might join them if I get a muse for him.
Kyrrin wouldn't be at the beach no matter what you paid her.
Will have to go round and double check my dates and places for my younger characters.

Mine originally came from star wars cosplay, I needed an alien name and came up with Jara'kri'safis. But most online things don't allow the apostrophes so that got shortened to Jara or Jarak which tends to be how I go by online.
Or using the centre of the name you get Kris, which due to a misunderstanding in university I got introduced as, so there are now very few people that know me by my legal name (which I'm not unhappy abut because I hate it but don't have the spare cash to change it).

@Inki Burning need to thread T'kos and Cinnacai now he's approved. Yes? No? Maybe? If yes, I was thinking possibly something pre-impression, but I'm game for anything if you have anything specific in mind.

Bronze Riders / Approved T'kos [20.02.2577 | Bronze Weyrling]
« on: October 05, 2018, 03:06:21 AM »

Play By: Max Charles

Date of Birth:
20.02.2577 9th Pass
Place of Birth:
Fort Hold
Dragon Color:
Impression Age:
Wing Rank:
Weyrling aiming for Jungle Wing

Your Reflection...

Appearance: He is well matched with his dragon, tall, broad and well muscled, and not unaware of how good his physique is. Admittedly, he does still have some growing to do, but riding will keep him fit, or so he reckons.

Since impressing he's gotten into the habit of wearing riding leathers as often as he can, they are comfortable and hard wearing. His hair is perpetually messy and he tries to keep it short to stop it ending up all over the place.

Response to 9th Pass Catastrophe: He can't really remember much from before, beyond it being cramped and crowded. So yeah, sure there are Hunters here, but it's still better than it was.

Response to dragon color mutations: They should have been killed before they could impress. Every last one of them, including Neisoth so he couldn't create more unnatural freaks. It's just not right. You don't see the Whers or Flits being black or red do you?

Who are you...

Singing: he's got a good voice (or he did have - whether that will stay when it settles he's not sure) and knows all the harper songs and loves to join in.

The bathing Pools: There's nothing like just soaking for an hour in the warm water.

Whers: He's always liked them, and will always stop to greet the ones he knows.

Flowers: They make him sneeze when he gets too close to them. Though they are pretty to look at from a good distance.

Liars: He can't stand people who lie to him, even half truths are pushing the boundaries. If you haven't got the courage to say something don't put yourself in a position that means you'll have to lie.

Mutations: One of them scarred Jairynth. That would be reason enough on its own. But they're also not right - they shouldn't exist. Pern doesn't need new dragons. He's also disturbed by how the mutations and their riders appear to be swaying people into defending them, that also can't be allowed to happen.

* PUNCTUAL: If you set a time, he'll be there. Weyr, hold and crafts all have jobs to do. Being late can set back not just yourself but everybody else.

* OBSERVANT: He'll often watch and wait before making a decision - after all, going off half cocked is stupid. Better to have all the information so you can really make sure you know what's going on.

* HONEST: He was brought up to be honourable. Being dishonest is not something a respectable member of the hold or weyr should be doing.

* CALM: In a panic he'll be the one you can turn to for instructions or guidance. It takes a lot to shake him.

* RESPECTFUL: He knows the names and ranks of all the important people in Pern and will give them their due (although this may not extend to the black riders that have got into the leadership - they shouldn't be there).

* STUBBORN: Unless you provide some very good evidence as to why he should change his mind he'll not be moved.

* VAIN: He doesn't need to be told he's handsome, he already knows it.

* RECKLESS: He's strong. His dragon is strong. What's out there that can hurt them? It's not that they deliberately go out of their way to find trouble, they're just used to being the strongest thing around. It's always a shock when he runs up against people outside his age who have finished growing.

* BLUNT: He's not going to pretty up his words or thoughts. If he doesn't like you he'll tell you he doesn't like you. Not that he's said that to anyone, he's quite laid back and tends to simply avoid anyone he doesn't like. If they want to insist on conversation though he'll go for it.

* SARCASTIC: Sometimes people are just a little... slow. He usually ignores that, but sometimes he can't help the sarcasm that he hits them with. As long as you don't say anything too silly he'll not have cause to bring it out.

Describe Yourself:

* TRADITIONAL: His Mother was as traditional as could be and he was brought up to follow the same ideals. He's found a few things a little too restrictive since moving to Southern Winds, but for the most part things should not and do not have to change.

* AMBITIOUS: Now he's passed the first hurdle - he has a dragon - he's going to aim to be the best. Wingleader. Weyrsecond. Weyrleader. They're all positions he'll work towards.

* PHYSICALLY STRONG: He's been told before that it's a good thing he's not a miner or he'd have nowhere to put extra muscle. He's growing into his body now and losing the adolescent lankiness and he's growing well. He's already filling out, give him a few more turns of growth and he'll be able to brawl with anyone.

* INTELLIGENT: Just because he looks like he's all brawn, no brain doesn't mean it's true. While it's not a eidetic memory, he does come close to it. He collects information and will often be able to tell you the answer to something you don't expect him to know anything about.

* PATIENT: He's willing to wait for things. It will take time to work his way up the weyr leadership if he wants to do it right.

The Magic Touch:He doesn't notice he's doing it but when frustrated he tends to run his hand through his hair.

Father: Cirkernos, Holder Labourer, b. 2531
Mother: Thaelira, Holder Wife, b. 2553, married 2575

Half siblings through Cirkernos and Lyrannaithe

Cirkaina [sister] Holder Farmer, b. 2548, d. 2575
L'thos [brother] Blue Rider of Kuradath, b. 2550, imp. 2570, d. 2583
Naithos [brother] Holder Labourer, b. 2553, d. 2580
Kyrrana [sister] Journeyman Miner, b. 2559
Irthe [sister] Holder Baker, b. 2562
Cinnacai [Sister] Apprentice Farmer, b. 2564

Tell us a story...

* 2577, 0 Therkos is the first born child to Cirkernos and Thaelira, though he has plenty of half siblings from his fathers previous marriage.

* 2578-2582, 2-5 There's not much to tell about this time in his life. He's happy, he eats well, his parents love him. What more does a child need?

* 2583, 6 L'thos is killed in a threadfall and Therkos misses the visits from the blue dragon his brother used to let him go and scratch and generally make a fuss of. Thankfully he's young enough that he adjusts without too much problem, though he fondly remembers the visits and holds the dragons in high regards. Enough so that he knows all the duty songs that mention dragons off by heart, even if he is out of tune.

* 2584-2586, 7-9 Lessons and chores and sneaking away to try and play games instead is what dominates this time in his life. His siblings are all older and already busy with more adult things so he finds friends his age to play with - although mother has to deem them appropriate. He's at the age where he doesn't really care what's going on around him as long as his needs are met he's happy. He knows the hold is getting more crowded and he tries to avoid the worst areas, but beyond that it's not his problem.

* 2587, 10 The move to the new island is a mad rush. He's kept busy running back and forth that he's just glad when they are finally settled in. It's not home but it'll do. Maybe after a while it might even begin to feel like the old place and people will settle back down into their rightful places. He's not fond of the upheaval when it means people are creating a new order.

* 2588, 11 It's early in the turn when he runs across his half sister, Cinnacai. She's fun to be around and she has a Wher. He asks about getting his own Wher when he gets home but mother says no, Wher's are for miners or herders, not for proper holders and she's already made it plain that as soon as he's old enough he'll be getting married to a lovely holder lass. Mother concedes that peacekeepers have them but says not till he's older and really knows that's what he wants. He's miffed but accepts her ruling on the matter.

* 2589, 12 It's only been a turn but he's convinced now that he wants a Wher so he can be a peacekeeper. He's going to ask Cin for an egg, no matter what mother thinks, when he is searched. He's exstatic at the news and immediately accepts. Even if no dragon chooses him he can still get a Wher so he'll loose nothing. Mother is happy enough, a dragonrider in the family is an honour and she tells him he'll ride a bronze - he's sure that he will too.
He stands for Oriath and Imyth's clutches and is disappointed when nothing even looks his way. He consoles himself by thinking that he and his mother must be right - his dragon must be a bronze and Kalestath always has more bronzes.

* 2590, 13 Another turn rolls round and this time he's determined to impress a dragon. He was searched just too late to stand for Kalestaths clutch last year so maybe this will be it. He really hopes it will be...

He might have still been half asleep when he first started across the bowl, but by the time he entered the hatching cavern he was wide awake. O'sir had been very, very clear about the reds and the danger they could pose and he'd seen scars on some of the other candidates. So he almost balked at the entrance when he caught the first flashes of red hide. He edged in, keeping his back against a wall. He wasn't about to be knocked down if he could help it.

It seemed an eternity before the reds had cleared off and impressed and the real dragons started emerging (because really, the reds were the size of a big flit). He held his breath with every shell breaking, wondering if this would be the one holding his dragon. The first black surprised him and the way it attacked the bronze was just not on. Dragons shouldn't attack each other like that. It wasn't right.

He heaved a sigh of relief when the next shell he noticed breaking revealed a bronze. Now that was a proper dragon. He hissed, stepping away from the wall when it knocked into the shell of a second black and the first thing the mutant did was attack. He gave a quiet cheer when the bronze snapped his legs out and punted the black away. He was just so angry that the upstart black creature would dare attack Jairynth.

The anger didn't abate as the bronze turned in their direction and a soft, ďoh!Ē escaped as he realised he knew the dragons name. He barely managed another couple of steps before the bronze skidded to a stop before him and he dropped to his knees so he could admire the size and strength in him. He was going to be beautiful when he was fully grown.

I am here. We should leave. Now.

The voice was deep and rolling, like thunder over the mountains and Therkos (Th'kos, T'kos, T'ker? He hadn't decided yet) was smiling and nodding as he stood up, one hand on his dragons shoulder as they left the hatching grounds.

Dragon Details

Date of Birth:
34.06.2590 9th Interval

Place of Birth:
Southern Winds Weyr

Clutch Mother:

Clutch Father:

Mature Length: 37.4M
Mature Height: 8.8M
Mature Wingspan: 64M

General Appearance...

Jairynth was a large hatchling, bulky and well built. As he grew this didn't change. If anything he only added more muscle. He's slower to turn and dive than others, but he certainly has power to bring to bear if he flies or jumps at something. He has a nick in his left wing on the trailing edge. It never healed and is a visible reminder of why the black dragons need to be put in their place.

He was dark on hatching, a deep bronze that could, if the sands had been any darker be mistaken for a black at a glance. Thankfully this didn't last, most of his hide lightening a few shades and his wing sails and underbelly lightening to a deep burnished coppery bronze within only a few months.

Mind Voice: A deep rumble, like thunder out to sea. He thinks before he speaks, weighing words before using them. When he does speak it is deliberate and can often sound commanding, he does expect to be obeyed.

Being oiled: It's relaxing, just being able to spend time with T'kos without having to worry about anything else.

Storms: He doesn't mind the rain, but it's the thunder and lightning he really likes. It's just so powerful, he could watch a storm for hours and not be bored.

Disobedience: The weyr has a hierarchy for a reason. Use it. He really doesn't like those who don't play by the rules.

Mutants: One of the blacks left a permanent scar in his wing on the hatching sand. He taught the black a lesson then and he'll continue to teach them their rightful place - below him in the order of the weyr. And the reds are just nuisances, they never shut up and they cant follow simple commands without at least one of them being distracted.

* PHYSICALLY STRONG: He's built to stand against a storm and not bend, let alone break. Anyone trying to push him around is going to find themselves in for a shock.

* WATCHER: When they are not busy he likes to watch the goings on around the weyr, it gives him lots of insight on what others may be up to and he passes what might be important onto his rider.

* IMPATIENT: Once they do have a job to do he'd rather get it over and done with so he can settle back down. He hates having to wait for latecomers to lessons as they mean they finish later.

* PROUD: He doesn't just think he's the best, he knows he is.

I've got D'via in this clutch. She also impressed a red and is D'vik's twin. She's shy and easily led astray so be gentle go nuts.

I've also got the assistant weyrlingmaster for this clutch so if you want any training threads at any point, I'll happily throw J'ken at you.

Purpose of this Thread
We all know that being a weyrling can be a complicated endeavor. There's a plethora of things to remember -- dragon growth charts, development timelines, important dates... and that's not even including who else is in your class. As new clutches are hatched and Impressed to Candidates, a thread will be created for each class to serve as a centralized location for all the information you'll need to know. As the dragonets and their riders grow, relevant announcements and class threads will be posted here as well.

Graduation Protocol
It's no secret that the default post-graduation Wing for most weyrlings is Prairie -- though of course, your characters are welcome to apply for a transfer with another Wingleader after they've graduated. But while it's less common for Beach and Jungle to accept recent weyrlings, it does happen. Because of their more stringent IC requirements, and to make sure each weyrling considered is a good fit for such a Wing, we will only be allowing weyrlings with 20 posts or more to be considered for Beach or Jungle. As per previously established canon, Mountain does not take freshly graduated weyrlings.

Please understand that this is not a punishment or a requirement -- simply that only characters who fit these guidelines will be considered for these Wings immediately upon graduation. Your weyrling can always request a transfer from another Wing if their dream lies outside of Prairie. Final tallying for such post counts will end the day before their graduation ceremony will take place -- on 37.10 -- in the interest of fairness. All weyrlings, regardless of post count, will be sorted into Prairie unless they meet the 20 post threshold and other considerations like personality fit and any extracurricular training it may be mentioned that they have done.

We'd also like to get a feel for what Wings your characters might be aspiring to! So as their graduation approaches, we'd like you to fill out the following form and PM it to Southern Records for us. Please let us know if you have any questions or comments!

He'd probably go seek her out - but that would be once the weyrlings are all settled - so she'd probably have heard by then. So anything running from that is good for me, I don't mind who does the finding :D
