Current Month
8.2591 A.R.
9th Interval

Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every OOC week. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Whers here, though not for firelizards.  There are Candidate events, Weyrling classes, Holder plots, and Crafthall developments -- a little bit of something for everyone.

Pernese Online A Gift of Dragons Shadowplay Topsites Top RP Sites

Hello and Welcome!

http://southernwindsweyr.net/Images/news icon copy.png We are a mature, 9th Interval AU Pern. We've destroyed almost the entire planet in a catastrophic event. While we feature 2 new mutations, we stick pretty close to canon. We've Ranks, roles, and positions for just about anyone who wants to get involved, with a relaxed community. Play and post at your own pace. Swing by and say hello!

Southern Winds uses a subaccount system to distinguish between Players and their Characters. So REGISTER with your Player Account Name and the admin will assign you your Character Subaccount once your character is approved!

Southern Winds is a Mature Roleplay. This means we allow for sexual, violent content that would be found in a struggling, 9th Interval Pern. Sex is common place in the Weyr and terrible deaths are no stranger here. As such, our players should be 18+. These themes are to be handled maturely at all times.

[ 10.8.2589 ] Move to Mountain Base
« on: May 05, 2014, 12:26:53 PM »

10.8.2589 // 9AM

Construction on the Hold is finally about to begin! The Miners will be digging into the mountain at its base, in order to carve out the bulk of the tunnels that will make up First Hold. The few Woodcrafters still alive will be beginning to push back the edges of the jungle in order to accommodate for farmland. There will be a few others from various Crafthalls—Smiths to mend broken tools and help the Miners; Healers to tend to any wounds; and a few drudges in order to prepare lunch. Everyone currently working on the Hold will return to the weyr at nightfall. These shifts will occur every day barring circumstances that might inhibit the riders—such as Flights.

Participating Riders
If your rider is among those guarding the Hold, you can have them included in any of these groups:  helping the Crafters to unload and guard them while they work, or one of the three patrol groups sent out by M’rek.

We would like at least those in Beach Wing to respond to this event in some way. If you do not have time to respond to this thread, you can always note what your rider will be doing in this thread instead.

Characters Who Have Participated

IC Thread

We ask that all ranked characters have some manner of reaction to this event moment. You may post in the thread, in a new thread as a reaction, or in this topic here to detail what your character might do.

Otherwise, standard event participation practice applies. Post in the event thread or here giving us a sentence or two as to what your character might be doing at this time. If you miss 5 events in a row, your account will be deemed inactive. If you are posting elsewhere but skipping the events, remember : we do not require IC participation. Simply post here under your Player account and let us know what's going on with your character.

Ard'on is rather indifferent to the whole thing and has better things to do than ferry people around, like hunting for food with his Wing.

Vanelwynne is displeased by the whole thing and will likely be ranting about it to anyone that will listen. But as much as she would love to go disrupt things, since Oriath is grounded until the eggs hatch, she mostly just rants.

Nevyin will be there and helping the Crafters wherever an extra hand is needed.

Leaekko and N'ves are both indifferent and busy with Candidate and Weyrling duties respectively.

S'bok is not pleased and thinks the Lord Holder is doing this entirely because he doesn't like the concept of having to listen to other people. He's fairly open about his displeasure.

T'hir thinks the move is hasty and foolish, and should have involved a lot more planning. With the recent hit to Jungle Wing, he's worried with how Beach Wing will fare - and his sister being a member of the wing doesn't help.

T'nan is likewise concerned for how this will reflect on the Weyr. He assumes any holder deaths will be blamed on the riders, and is keenly aware that the people working in the danger zone cannot be readily replaced.

Kayden - She is excited for the Holders to have their own home again, though she is not sure what is going to happen with the already few Riders they have in order to protect everyone. She would want to help, if only to be one more body of protection, but she is still busy with Candidate classes.

D'von - He is pretty neck deep in his Weyrling training right now, so hasn't thought too much about the Holders getting their own. Though, since he will be a Rider soon, he is figuring he will helping out towards the tail end of the construction, if there is still any to do.

Toranyin - She thinks the Holders are being ridiculous. They may not have the best living conditions right now, but isn't it still better than being eaten by Hunters? Did they not just lose some of their best Riders to the beasts? We need to be protecting one place with what they have, not spreading thin because the Holders are feeling a little cramped. Unless she gets a direct order from her Wingleader, she has no intention of helping them. She will focus on their normal tasks of gathering food and protecting the Weyr.

K'mar will be partaking in guarding the Holders as a member of the Beach Wing. His response will be up tonight or tomorrow. He is on the fence with this decision, going back and forth between agreeing the Holders should have their own place and it being the duty of the dragon riders to protect them, but on the other side timing couldn't be worse after S'tas' death by Hunters and that the Weyr is still scrounging for food while riders are busy with Holders. But if asked, he will stand by M'rek, his Wingleader's decision.

Nalata is thrilled for the Holders and hopes that Craftshalls will be built as well one day in the next Turn or so, but she is very nervous for everyone considering that Hunters just took out some of their finest riders. She does wish they would have post-poned this a bit longer until everyone had regrouped a bit or come up with a better plan to prevent the most chance of casualties.

Callista thinks they are all morons. The Holders should just be happy that her Wing has been so kind as to let them eat the food that they kill. Their ungratefulness is likely to get them all killed during this process. Her biggest annoyance is that riders are actually defending them. If riders' lives are lost for Holders, she will be pissed.

L'andis thinks this move is ridiculous and overly optimistic. Particularly after the deaths of five talented Jungle riders, who knew the dangers and still fell to them, this is a waste of talent, time, and most likely lives. He's viciously glad Jungle riders aren't involved in this mess.

Ishanae, as a member of Beach Wing, is assigned to help guard the holders and the construction site. She is nervous, and doesn't think this move is the wisest decision given the current status of the weyr. She will stand by her wingleader however, and won't voice her doubts in public.

[Sauri] - She believes this was the right decision but feels slightly biased considering she came from a Hold herself. She is also glad that there will be less people around, it means less noise and more space and that's always a good thing!

Sh'lon as a Beach Wing rider will naturally be involved in the move. More specifically, he and Kitath will be helping ferry supplies and guard the miners while they're working, rather than patrols, since he's pro-hold and unlikely to cause any offence to them xD I will hopefully be getting a post up at some point, when my muse recovers a little from revision :/

Eimerra is still relieved that the holders are getting their own place at last, though she agrees that the icing couldn't possibly be worse what with the Jungle rider seeing killed so soon before. She won't say much to anyone of this though.

J'hal and Shenzani aren't really involved and don't much care.

Margana couldn't be happier that the Hold is getting started. She probably won't be as involved right now seeing as she isn't skilled at being a miner or a smith, but as the fields around the hold begin to take shape, she'll be more involved with planting and farming.

R'eso is going to be involved with his Weyrling classes. He might want to help, but will likely volunteer at the Weyr with the glass-smiths instead of going to the Mountain Base.

Evesa is a little scared, but supports M'rek's decision one hundred percent. She will do her best to keep her wingmates and Crafters.

F'lan is very consumed with Rakanth and his weyrling training, and so he has no opinion either way. He just wants everyone to be safe and come back alive.

Catari is not going to be involved with the construction, but she's ready to get out of the Weyr. She'll offer Catsk to do heavy lifting just to spite those idiot bronzers and goldriders once she seems it safe.

Solik would be going down to help with this. I'm sorry that I don't have focus or time to post.

L'rak would be doing whatever is needed of him. He would be helping with protecting the crafters and holders that are down there.

B'gos would watch the dragons fly around when he could, absently wondering what it was like to have a real assignment.

T'yod, as a member of the Beach Wing, will be assisting in helping the crafters unload and guarding them.  He is likely to pitch in wherever help is needed, sometimes to the determinant of the cause, simply because he doesn't like being skilled and building/preparing-to-build a hold is far more interesting than he thought.  Fortunately his earnest desire to help is easy to see or some crafter might be irritated (not that some still won't be).

Sebek wishes he could assist more, given that Sebisk could be of great help, but alas he has his work cut out form him on the farmlands the Weyr is currently tending to.  He is willing to take some time off, if the farmers can spare him, to assist if he is needed.

Arianr is using what free time she can scrape together to help the effort in whatever small way she can.  As a weaver, however, she will stay stationed at the Weyr and only be able to volunteer her help taking care of small insignificant tasks here and there.

Iseult is once again trying to get in the way of her sister's efforts to assist with the hold work, but is finding this harder to do with a clutch on the sands.
