Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every OOC week. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Whers here, though not for firelizards.  There are Candidate events, Weyrling classes, Holder plots, and Crafthall developments -- a little bit of something for everyone.

See previous events here!

Feel free to say hello, guesties! Registered members can request a colored name here.

this holds no IC consequence and is only for fun.

Pernese Online A Gift of Dragons Shadowplay Topsites Top RP Sites

Hello and Welcome!

http://southernwindsweyr.net/Images/news icon copy.png We are a mature, 9th Interval AU Pern. We've destroyed almost the entire planet in a catastrophic event. While we feature 2 new mutations, we stick pretty close to canon. We've Ranks, roles, and positions for just about anyone who wants to get involved, with a relaxed community. Play and post at your own pace. Swing by and say hello!

Southern Winds uses a subaccount system to distinguish between Players and their Characters. So REGISTER with your Player Account Name and the admin will assign you your Character Subaccount once your character is approved!

Southern Winds is a Mature Roleplay. This means we allow for sexual, violent content that would be found in a struggling, 9th Interval Pern. Sex is common place in the Weyr and terrible deaths are no stranger here. As such, our players should be 18+. These themes are to be handled maturely at all times.

[ 30.8.2589 ] An Unfortunate Advance
« on: June 06, 2014, 01:02:58 PM »

30.8.2589 // 10 AM

Beach Wing Gathers
Beach Wingleader M’rek has summoned the remaining members of his Wing to the Weyr Bowl for an announcement. Construction has been halted on First Hold while they recover from the Hunter attack, and it’s unclear at present whether it will ever continue with so many dead and injured as a result.

Among those grievously injured is S’lar, one of M’rek’s trusted Wingseconds. The man was pulled from the back of his dragon in the jaws of a Hunter, sustaining internal injuries as well as broken bones and a concussion. For the past few days, it’s been unclear whether or not he would survive at all. But his condition has stabilized—even so, his path to full recovery will be a long one. For now, and potentially permanently, he has stepped down from his position as Beach Wingsecond.

In his place, M’rek has promoted K'mar of Berynth to Wingsecond. The occasion is as subject to grief as it is celebration; so soon after the attack, many of the Wingriders are still recovering from their physical and psychological wounds. But the fact remains that Beach needs two reliable Wingseconds—and M’rek is determined to honor K’mar for the distinction despite the pressing and unfortunate timing.

Rest of the Weyr
M’rek has invited only Beach Wing to this event, but others may be present for the announcement in the Weyr Bowl when it seems that Beach Wing is mustering for some kind of gathering. You are also welcome to post with your other characters hearing about the appointment later in the day after the announcement has been made.

Feel free to comment as to what's going on with your character during this event, or if they'll be in another thread. Otherwise, standard event participation practice applies. If you miss 5 events in a row, your account will be deemed inactive. If you are posting elsewhere but skipping the events, remember : we do not require IC participation. Simply post here under your Player account and let us know what's going on with your character.

S'bok approves, overall, but isn't happy about it since it means S'lar's out of commission. Not much to comment on from his side.

T'hir and T'nan would be congratulatory but both would be saddened at the occasion that brought it about; the election of K'mar is more confirmation to them of S'lar's condition than it is a cause for celebration.

A'sier is...neutral. He respected S'lar as a fellow Wingsecond and may harbor some doubts about the younger and untested K'mar.

Ishanae is happy for K'mar, but mostly sad because of the reason why K'mar needed to be promoted. It cements the fact that S'lar, even if stable, will be out of commission for a long while.

Kayden is still learning about Wing politics, so doesn't exactly understand the changing of roles. She does understand that a lot of people were hurt and is still focused on helping out around Healer Hall for it.

D'von is sorry that they are needing to change WingSeconds for the reason of injury, but glad they were able to find someone so quickly to help keep the Wing strong.

Toranyin feels this is all too familiar - rushing someone to fill a position. Not saying that it will be a bad thing, but she wished they hadn't had the need (which they wouldn't have needed to if they had all just stayed at the Weyr where they belonged.) She will try to be supportive of beach through this hard time like they were for Jungle.

Zelryon is very busy in Healer Hall. He probably won't hear about the Wing changing, and it isn't very high on his priority list.

Pryndel will hear of the news as just a change to be recorded for future reference, but not to much care other than that.

Evesa//Seriath: They are both saddened by the tragedy that was the Hunter attack, and are particularly upset over S'lar, who led them well. But K'mar is Evesa's friend, and so they'll both support him and do their best to congratulate him.

Iradin//Leoth: They wish they could have saved S'lar. If only they had been there sooner... So they're not happy that there needs to be a replacement. However, they will be there to aid the "untested noobs" and Ira will scrounge up some alcohol as a congratulatory gift.

Catari: Could not care less. She's still in the infirmary with head trauma and severe Catsk-death depression.

F'lan//Rakanth: They feel bad for S'lar and everyone who was injured or killed. It's a tragedy. But they wish K'mar luck, even though they don't know him.

Eimerra is saddened by the change and the reason for it, but wishes K'mar all the best with his promotion.

Sh'lon is probably still suffering the effects of concussion, but will still be shocked by the news that their Wingsecond is out of action. He will congratulate K'mar of course, he lies the guy and thinks he'll do well, but not with his usual gusto. When he's allowed to stand up he'll probably hobble over to see how S'lar is doing.

J'hal is not very much affected by this, beyond wondering how likely it is that he may get a promotion from the misfortune of another rider sometime in the future. They seem to be pretty common at the moment...

Shenzani also isn't much affected by it, but has some sympathy for the Wing. That was some rotten luck they had. Also a bit worried about her own future fighting the bastards...

Daesilena is saddened by the turn of events but is mainly neutral.
Sauri is pretty neutral as a candidate. She knows it sucks and wonders if having a dragon will reserve the same fate for her.

Margana is a little more sympathetic to the riders based on what she saw at the Hold site, but she blames S'lar for the fact that the attack was essentially a surprise. She hopes K'mar will be more successful.

R'eso doesn't mind the change, wishes S'lar the best, but knows the Wing has to have strong leadership. He doesn't know S'lar or K'mar so is mostly ambivalent.

Jaenellia is terrified that impressing will put her face to face with the Hunters. After helping in the Healer Hall and seeing S'lar's condition (from a distance) and some of the other injuries, she can only wish K'mar the best.

K'mar has posted finally  :faint:

Nalata is still mortified by the shock of the attack and hopes the Wingsecond of Beach being replaced so quickly is not a sign that they will be going back to the construction site soon.

Callista will keep her mouth shut since Beach did so when S'tas and the other riders were taken by Hunters.

M'kale couldn't really care less that they are replacing their Wingsecond. It only makes sense to do so with one incapacitated from flying.

Esmyond found out considerably later in the day what was going on. The steps Beach Wing are taking now make sense, yet there is something missing in the equation.

Osaiyes found out early on, and has been blabbering non-stop at Esmyond about it.

T'veck has been locked in the Healer Hall until further notice so he has no real idea what is going on unless some tells him.

T'yod will congratulate K'mar on his promotion while also mourn the loss of S'lar.  He is taking M'rek's decision to call a new wingsecond as a sign that S'lar is unlikely to recover from his wounds.  He will likely be found drowning down his sorrows while also congratulating K'mar with all the joyfulness he can muster on such a somber occasion.
