Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every OOC week. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Whers here, though not for firelizards.  There are Candidate events, Weyrling classes, Holder plots, and Crafthall developments -- a little bit of something for everyone.

Your Reflection...

Appearance: Z'tai is a man who takes care of himself. Taller than most, he has quite the impressive build and is rather muscular and toned man. Though his muscles could be bigger if he had more food to eat but with the spare supplies, he makes due with what he has. His dark blonde hair is typically kept a little longer on the top, seeming to just call for fingers to be run through the thick locks but he makes it a point to keep it short around his ears and at the nape of his neck. He refuses to let it grown long enough for a tail and tries to keep his hair as immaculate as possible. His facial hair, however, isn't much of a concern. He'll typically shave it clean when it gets long enough but he has no issues with stubble showing on his jawline. He has several scars from his younger days fighting the thread, most marring his back in jagged lines. They don't seem to bother him except for during colder times when his whole body aches.

Response to 9th Pass Catastrophe: It was a devestating and shocking event but in Z'tai's mind, something that was meant to happen. A firm believer in everything happens for a reason, he's just grateful that he and Jenrath made it through alive. As for those who managed to survive, he still believes it was for a reason. They were either the strongest or the smartest and therefore will be the biggest help to Pern's survival.

Response to dragon color mutations: He was wary at first, but again believes everything happens for a reason. Perhaps these new creatures are to be Pern's savior? He doesn't know, but he's not one to judge and will stand up for the mutations and do his best to help mold them into the strong riders he believes they can be.

Who are you...

Likes: Women- While he isn't probably the most sexually active of men in the Weyr, he does have a decently healthy libido and enjoys the companionship of a woman. He isn't one for true committment though, unsure of what tomorrow will bring so he prefers a life of random fun than settling down.

Woodcarving- With a father and older brother as woodcrafters, Z'tai has learned a thing or two about the art of carving wood. He is far from being an amazing and famous carver but he can handle a blade and hunk of wood pretty well. It isn't something he gets to do often as his days are pretty busy but when he seeks a nice distraction from the insanity of Weyrlife, he likes to carve wood into little shapes and often passes them on to children whenever he should encounter one.

Equality- He believes everything happens for a reason, people are who they are and should all be treated equally for it. In his mind, they're all in this battle together and the only way to come out on top is to treat and respect everyone equally.

Dislikes: Cruelty- He thinks everyone deserves to be treated equally and with respect. He'll quickly dole out a punishment of his own if he sees someone treating someone in a cruel manner.

Negativity- He prefers to look to the positive of everything. Dwelling on the negative only makes for a sad existence. While some of the things that have happened haven't been the best, he believes everything happens for a reason so they may as well focus on the good things that happen and get on with life.

Bullies- He's constantly standing up for his wing and it carries over into everyday. He can't stand to see someone getting bullied for being smaller or weaker. He's very much the advocate for all and has no problems doing so.

* TRAINING : A strong and determined man, he takes pride in all of his training. Whether it be drills with his wing or just his own personal training, he has a strict and true regimes that he utilizes. It helps to keep him, and his wing, on their toes and ready.
* INTEGRITY : As an honorable man, he takes great pride in doing the right thing. Standing up for those who need it, taking the high road when needed, following the rules set for the entirety of the Weyr. He has strict moral and ethical beliefs and does his best not to waiver from them.

* COMPASSION : Some may view him as a bleeding heart, caring too deeply for those around him. He doesn't see it in such a way and believes it makes him a better person. He truly cares about all he encounters unless they prove to be the things he dislikes in a person. He's the go-to man for those in need, even if its just an ear to rant to.

* PERSONABLE : He gets along with most anyone in the beginning and even then, gives those he's unsure of the benefit of the doubt. His optimistic attitude helps him to see the good in people and makes him all the more friendly for it. He is rarely seen with a glower or frown on his face and is typically always found smiling. He doesn't like to raise his voice and actually enjoys talking to strangers and hearing their life stories.

* FORGIVING : While he defends his wing whenever needed, he won't hesitate to forgive the wrongdoer should they repent and prove their remorse. The same goes for any who should cross him. He isn't one to hold a grudge and would rather forgive and forget. Call him naive, but he'd rather believe that the person was simply having an off day and that it was a one time occurrence. And though he may be quick to forgive at first, he's not one to be fooled twice. A second forgiveness is unlikely.

* PERFECTIONIST : While some may view it as a good thing, Z'tai takes his perfectionism to a whole new level. He's nearly OCD with things being in place and running smoothly. Perhaps it is why he is so determined to see his Wing become what he knows they can but he has to keep it in check from time to time otherwise he knows he'll push too far and end up with bad results. But one look at his Weyr and its obvious the man has a problem with making sure is exactly in its place.

* NAIVE : His often times optimistic outlook makes him look rather naive to some. Choosing to look only at the good shields him from see the true evils of the world and perhaps leaving him more susceptible to that evil.

* SELF CONSCIOUS : Z'tai is surely a man that takes care of himself and focuses on his training and hygiene but he doesn't view himself as the irresistible bronzer so many of his brethren are. Perhaps it is why he has yet to truly commit to a relationship and even pushes other women away.

* CLUMSY : The man has two left feet. He isn't one to dance and really should spend all of his time flying where Jenrath can do the maneuvering because he is quite frequently tripping over his own feet. Surprisingly enough, on the odd occasion that he has been drinking, he's much more nimble instead of stumbling worse.

* IMPULSIVE : He is quick to act, without actually thinking things through. If he feels what he is doing is the right thing, he'll do it regardless of what consequences it may have.

Describe Yourself:
* HONORABLE: ----- Z'tai is a man that believes in following the laws of the land and upholding values and integrity. He is honest, sometimes to a fault, and it can get him in trouble but he doesn't believe in lying or sugar coating things. The world can be cruel but with honesty and respect, it can be an easier place to live in and work together in.

* PROTECTIVE: ----- He will protect any and all that he feels need it, especially those in his wing and his family. Whether it be from others or themselves, Z'tai will be there to help. He won't stand for the bad mouthing of anyone he cares about and won't hesitate to put others in their place.

* LOYAL: ----- His Weyr is his life, his family. He will stand by the entire Weyr through thick and thin. His Wing is his extended family, he will always be there for them through thick and thin, never wavering. Anyone that should get close to the man by any means will always have him to rely on in a time of need, no matter the circumstance or the hour.

* INTELLIGENT: ----- Z'tai is a smart man, both in a tactical sense and a street smart sense. He's had to survive many things like most still alive and he's used his experiences to his advantage. He works hard on his drills to make sure they help his riders in multiple ways and not being so monotonous.

* DETERMINED: ----- He's the leader of a wing most feel will do nothing but fail. He doesn't see it that way. Not only is he determined to prove the doubters wrong, but he is determined to get anything done he sets his mind to.

The Magic Touch: He has a nervous tick, probably tied to his OCD nature, where he spins a wooden ring on a chain that he is never seen without, a gift from his father as a way of congratulating him for impressing such a fine bronze. As time went on and the ringHe does it often when trying to calm himself over a disagreement, typically about Prairie Wing.

Tell us a story...

* 2555, 0 Born the second son to a family in High Reaches Weyr.

* 2558, 3 His first sister is born, Ikzarin.

* 2561, 6 Zaknar is born.

* 2562, 7 Zikinel is born.

* 2563, 8 Zatainal is irritated with the Lord of Nabol and his accusations against the riders. Though he won't admit it, he believes they deserved the fall of their hold.

* 2565, 10 He is gifted a firelizard egg on his name day. A pale, creamy gold breaks the shell only to prove herself as a spoiled and jealous creature.

* 2567, 12 Loses his virginity to a girl a couple turns older than him. It is an experience that leaves him a little confused but still intrigued.

* 2569, 14 His first year in candidacy and he impresses to a nice specimen of a bronze, Jenrath. He's surprised but happy. His father gives him a ring carved from wood and sanded down to a shine as a congratulatory gift. He'll wear it on a chain once he outgrows the ring.

* 2571, 16 Shortly after his Weryling graduation, the areas surrounding High Reaches falls. Z'tai's family manages to get safely to Fort, one of the few to have a whole family survive. It is devestating and terrifying but Z'tai still feels everything happens for a reason. He's just glad his whole family survived the whole ordeal.

* 2577, 21 His younger brother impresses to a stout brown and becomes Z'nar. He is proud though feels his brother surely had the potential for a bronze. His father gives Z'nar a ring similar to the one he now wears around his neck.

* 2578, 22 His younger sister impresses to a small green that is just as sweet as Zikinel. He couldn't be happier though worries for his sister. The life of a dragonrider is not an easy one but he is sure she will manage. She ends up with a bracelet instead of a ring from their father.

* 2579, 23 Jenrath wins his first gold flight and produces a mighty clutch with Gold Tremath. The win is something that surprise Z'tai in many ways, having never experienced a flight win of such a magnatitude. Needless to say, he is rather sore the following morning leaving Tremath's rider's weyr.

* 2582, 26 Jenrath catches Tremath a second time. The bronze is deeply sadden when she betweens following the hatching of their clutch and he refuses to leave his ledge for near two seven-days. Z'tai is saddened as well but not near to the extent of his bronze.

* 2583, 27 Jenrath catches Nometh, Z'tai feeling it is his way of rebounding from the loss of his first queen. More accustomed to a winning catch, he enjoys the aftermath a deal more than the first time Jenrath caught Tremath.

* 2585, 29 Jenrath catches Imyth, resulting in a decent clutch. It will be their last win for some time.

* 2587, 32 Z'tai and Jenrath are a pair to help find a new home for the survivors of Fort. He isn't lucky enough to have found the new island but grateful to have had a chance to offer whatever assistance they could have offered.

* 2589, 34 The pair have yet to win a flight in their new home but seem unaffected by it. They are the Wingleaders of Prairie Wing and take their job quite seriously.

RP Sample:
The Prairie Wingleader idly twirled the wooden circle around the chain on his neck. He was sitting with the rest of the crowd in the stands around the Hatching Sands, his face nearly lost among them. That was how he liked it. Wingleader or not, he was no different from the rest and would sit with fellow riders and weyrfolk who had come to watch the Hatching. His face was the image of excitement with eyes glowing and lips turned upwards while the deep hum echoed through the cavern and seemed to resonate through him.

However it was the wooden ring that betrayed his excited, yet relaxed demeanor. It was the one sign for those who knew him that something was bothering him. Fortunately, it was unrelated to his Wing this time as it usually tended to be. This time, it was more out of concern for the hatchlings with the sadness still lingering in the air from the previous day. Hatching into the world was scary enough for them, but they could likely taste the sadness in the air. And what good did they know of the world that it was worth staying for?

I was not scared, mine. I knew you were with me the moment I hatched. Z'tai grinned and nodded, sparing a glance up at the ledge where the bronze was perched to watch the event below. He was far happier up there by the coolness of the ceiling rather than close to the hot Sand. Not that he would dare approach the Sands with eggs or a Queen there. After three marks of watching and waiting, and some ring fiddling, the first eggs began to hatch.

General Appearance...

While Jenrath may not be the largest of  bronzes, he is tall for his length along with a massive wingspan. He's a rather bulky beast with a good deal of muscle tone.And those his hide is relatively smooth in its greenish-bronze color, there are a few threadscores to mar his smooth hide.


Mind Voice: Jenrath has a rather calm and smooth sort of tone to his voice. He rarely speaks much louder than that of a quiet talking voice

Likes: Children- The big beast seems to have quite the soft spot for children. He often time watches the young creche children run around.

Training Drills- He loves being in the skies with his wing and teaching them all that he knows. There's a pleasant relaxation that comes with it.

Dislikes: Excessive Heat- He would much rather enjoy a nice overcast day or even a raining one than one that is overly hot. It is why, if he isn't training or bathing, he prefers the solitude of his own ledge.

Failure- He's typically calm and stoic but he doesn't do well with failure no matter the type. Whether it be losing a flight or losing a wingmate to an attack, he doesn't deal well. He's known to pout and sulk for days afterward.

* AGILITY : While he may be a large beast, he's actual rather agile. He moves through the airs rather effortlessly and seems to enjoy doing so.

* PATIENCE : With a rider that is rather OCD about order and a wing that is known for typically always lacking something, Patience has become something Jenrath is rather good at. He would do well with children if Z'tai were to ever have some but for now, he deals with the proddy and jealous gold firelizard that claims Z'tai.

* STOIC : Being rather calm in nature, sometimes he comes of as uncaring and just too neutral. Almost oblivious and unaware.

* DREAMER : More often than not, Jenrath's head can quite literally be found off in the clouds. He gets lost in thought from time to time only adding to the oblivious misconception.

General Appearance...

She's a rather prim and dainty little thing, by far not one of the largest golds but she feels she's all the better for that. Unique and original compared to the typical large golds. Her coloring is that of a light and creamy buttery gold with a slightly mottled appearance but the coloring is just a smidge lighter than her natural coloring that it isn't too apparent unless seen within the right lights.


Mind Voice: Haughty and shrill, its more annoying than anything but still definitely commands authority.

Likes: Hot Baths- And quite frankly, she expects to be given them at least three times a week and that Z'tai gives her a good lathering of oil afterwards.

Attention- She likes the spotlight being on her and she's known to be rather obnoxious if it is not.

Dislikes: Other Females- Doesn't matter what the species, she despises other females that show any sort of interest in Z'tai. He is hers, plain and simple. And for good measure, she'll snarl and squawk at any female that even approaches him. Ya know, just in case.

Bright Colors- She feels they pull attention from her with vivid colors and sometimes prettier than her. Doesn't matter if its in clothing or a flower, she doesn't like anything that's bright.
