Current Month

9th Interval

Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every OOC week. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Whers here, though not for firelizards.  There are Candidate events, Weyrling classes, Holder plots, and Crafthall developments -- a little bit of something for everyone.

See previous events here!

Feel free to say hello, guesties! Registered members can request a colored name here.

Remember,
this holds no IC consequence and is only for fun.

Southern Winds is a Mature Roleplay. This means we allow for sexual, violent content that would be found in a struggling, 9th Interval Pern. Sex is common place in the Weyr and terrible deaths are no stranger here. As such, our players should be 18+. These themes are to be handled maturely at all times.

Your Reflection...

Appearance: Sokon has a preference for darker clothing, though gets by with more earthy tones should there be no other choice. She has only one set of leather gear, worn from use and tattered from the constant repairs, aspirations to obtain more items made from the soft material dulled by the understanding that it was a rare commodity. She has made sure her clothing choices reflect the weather of Southern Winds Weyr, though will rarely be found wearing anything less than functional for whatever tasks come her way. The only exceptions to this are her formal wear, and, more recently, the dress she is having made to offset her dragon, Creath’s hide. An item that she will only suffer to wear when attending formal events, and then only when wearing her usual attire would be deemed inappropriate. Beyond her clothing choice, Sokon stands at a height of 167cm, with slight curves and a relative average bust, a rigorous training schedule keeping herself fit and well-toned. The only vanity is her hair, which she allows to remain at shoulder-length despite the hassles that come with it. While she prefers to keep it loose, a band is always kept handy to pull it up out of the way of her face should the situation call for it.

Response to 9th Pass Catastrophe: Like her mother, Sokon faced the threat of thread caused by the catastrophe head on, doing everything she could to help out (once she was able to). With her parents doing everything she could to fight off the near constant threadfall, often Sokon found herself assisting her more than anyone else, assisting in the care of her dragon and/or her siblings. Living in the weyr at the time she grew quite accustomed to the dragons’ mourning song whenever their kin failed to return from between, and she quickly grew numb to the grief caused by deaths of those she knew.

Response to dragon color mutations: Not overly fussed on them – it seems a bit unnatural to her, but the appearance of more mutations are causing her to change her mind about them. Ultimately, an extra set of wings when thread falls would be beneficial, regardless of the colour.

Who are you...

Likes:
Pain: For Sokon pain is a physical reminder that she exists, and she embraces it for that reason. She will not intentionally harm herself, or allow others to harm her, but even so, grazes on her knees from falling or bruises from a particularly painful sparring session make her happy.
Running: Sokon was basically a runner for the weyr while growing up, delivering messages and running supplies back and forth as needed. Her mother insisted that she be useful, and even a child of five turns could dart from place to place if they could remember people’s faces. Her desire to meet the expectations of her mother led Sokon to doing runs on her own time, often through the passages of Fort Weyr during the early hours of the morning or very late at night. Since the move to Southern Winds Weyr, she has been better able to stretch her legs, and tries to run at least once daily – harder though, with Creath to look after.
Honesty: Be it a brutal truth or not, Sokon holds a lot of respect for those who are honest. It is a trait she tries to reflect, despite the negative side of it, and one that she desires of others at all times.
Laughter: It is the best medicine, after all. Whether or not it is she who brings the laughter, Sokon enjoys the sound.
Liquid Courage aka. Alcohol: Her uncertainty in large groups is only diffused by a liberal application of alcohol. She may not drink to excess, but she’s socially at her best when there are a few cups of wine in her stomach.

Dislikes:
Numbweed: Sure the stuff’s good for dulling pain but the distillation quite literally leaves a foul taste in Sokon’s mouth. It’s one of the few chores she will attempt to palm off on a colleague regardless of the consequences. Then there is the numbing sensation of the cream itself. Sokon has never been able to comprehend the total loss of feeling to the affected area (having only ever incurred minor scrapes, and not a greater wound that the numbweed just dulls) and will flat out refuse the application of numbweed unless you give her a very, very good reason why she needs it.  She’d rather grit her teeth and bear the pain then lose all sensation in the area.
Liars: She may not like white lies, but she can tolerate them to some extent. Those that lie and manipulate to twist situations to their advantage, however, she utterly despises. There is no place in her mind for liars, particularly following the 9th pass catastrophe. In an area where co-oporation was paramount to survival, people who lied had no rightful place.
Negativity: It has no place on Fort Island. They'd made it and they were doing everything possible to survive. If you were just going to spout off reasons why the residents should all be dead, or how they were going to run out of various resources or even just complain about your lot in life, then you might as well go try your luck in hand to hand combat with a hunter. Negativity has no place in a world that needs all the faith and hope the denizens could spare.
Weakness: Not in others, but in herself. Particularly if it is known to others. She strives hard to be as infallible as possible, and hates herself for every flaw, particularly when they are noticeable. Her dislike runs to her mental and emotional state and not her physical state, however, as any physical flaws are simply a sign of growth. Her fear of between, for example, is something that she cannot hide, and while she tries to continue to remain stoic despite her terror, she is not entirely convinced that others cannot see through the facade.

Strengths:

* HIGH PAIN TOLERENCE : Considering her almost complete refusal of numbweed, Sokon’s level for pain tolerance is quite high. She doesn’t go out of her way to get hurt, but she can deal with more than her fair share of cuts and bruises before she starts to cave.

* MEMORY : Tell her how to do something once, and Sokon will be able to repeat it back to you, acting on the instructions as required with only minor confirmation during the initial attempts. Once it’s committed to memory, it stays. It doesn’t translate to names, however, but she gets by via the terms “Sir” and “Ma’am” if she hasn’t had enough exposure to the person to remember theirs.

* DETACHMENT : At least outwardly, Sokon displays little to no emotion when it comes to pain and/or disaster around her. She is able to push aside grief or fear when faced with difficult or emotionally damaging situations, conveying a calm façade despite her actual feelings on the matter.

* PROGRESSIVE : If there’s a use for it in Pern society, then chances are Sokon is going to be supportive of it… or at the very least do nothing to stop it from happening. She won’t necessarily lead the charge, but she’ll be in the stands, so to speak. There is some hesitation when faced with something that could go either way (such as the appearance of Black and Red dragons), however once the usefulness is made clear, she will back it completely.

* AGILE : Rigorous training sessions and a desire to always improve has given Sokon a lithe body and the ability to utilise it well. She may not get into many fights, or even have need to utilise her skills, but should the opportunity arise, Faranth knows her body will be up for the challenge.

Weaknesses:

* GROUPS OF STRANGERS : More than three people that she doesn’t know, including herself, and Sokon will immediately withdraw. She can appear to hold her own, her playful side protecting her to some extent, particularly when boosted with some wine, however ultimately social situations with strangers cause her to feel drained and mentally exhausted by the end of the encounter.

* SMALL TALK : Her difficulty in social situations is due in part, to the necessity of small talk. She has no idea how to hold a conversation, for as far as she’s concerned, most conversations should be short and to the point. No use beating around the proverbial bush when saying something outright works. Unless it’s something incredibly close to her heart such as Creath, she’s not going to be very good at keeping a conversation going beyond the initial topical point.

* SENSORY DEPRIVATION : Blindfolds, extended periods of times with her head under water, loss of feeling and the inability to sense where she is (such as when stuck in a large cavern in pitch blackness). Deprivations to any of her senses causes her panic. Taste and smell are the only senses she can tolerate losing… so long as it is only for a short period of time, such as when her nose is runny or her tastebuds burnt from a too hot cup of klah, but other than that, she will not willingly succumb to sensory deprivation of any sort. This weakness extends to between, and no matter how often she goes, she needs a significant amount of time to prepare herself for the trip. Once she’s done one, however, she is able to do several in a row, a trait she discovered when her mother was trying to help her overcome her fear. She does not, however, do it knowingly, as she functions more from instinct than rational decision and needs a significant amount of time to recover, proportionate to the time she had spent blinking in and out of between. The voice of her mother’s dragon also assisted in dealing with the moments between, often simply counting the moments as they pass, thus giving her something to latch onto when there quite literally is nothing else.

* OVERCAUTIOUS  : To keep her distance from things that could possibly cause her grief – such as the death of a close friend, Sokon finds it very difficult to build relationships beyond superficial ones. She has very few friends, and even those took turns to truly blossom, the other parties often too stubborn to take into account her cautious nature. This can alienate her to her fellows however, and while social due to societal norms and duty to her peers (and sometimes her dragon) she struggles to create and maintain meaningful relationships due to her cautious nature.

* INFANTS : Sokon will deny it, but anything, human or beast, that is young enough to be called an infant strikes a chord with her. Though she has actively prevented all but one pregnancy, her desire for children has always existed… It’s just hidden under a generous amount of caution. Prior to her impression to Creath, it had been about maximising her chances on the sands, and now the restriction placed on all weyrlings would prevent her from becoming pregnant for until Creath was mature enough to handle the hormonal changes it would cause. She does not want to become a brood-mare, however, and so while the idea of having any more children makes her smile, she is more than happy to simply mother all other children in the weyr, including dragons, flits and should they ever let her near them, whers.

Describe Yourself:

* PRACTICAL: Life is what it is, there is no way to change that… But there is always a way to go with the cards you are dealt.

* RESPECTFUL: Rank is rank. I may not like the person, but that doesn’t mean I’m about to go around being disrespectful to them. Above or below me in the pecking order, all people are deserving of respect, even dim glows.

* PLAYFUL: As long as I have nothing to attend to, I’m ready and willing to let my hair down with a few friends. Let me show you this game I learnt from the miners.

* UNFORGIVING: One chance and one chance only, use it up and we’re done. Nothing will change my mind on that.

* CARING: Yeah I have my flaws, but if we’re close, you can bet I’ll do anything for you, all you have to do is ask.

The Magic Touch: Creath. Sokon will talk about her dragon all day and has an immediate enjoyment in the company of anyone willing to talk to her about her.

Tell us a story...

* 2569, 0 Sokon is born. She is the third child and daughter of Tyxana (19) and G’fri (21), and while her oldest sister, Aeylah (3) spends most of her time in the crèche, Teeahn (1), still much the infant herself, acts as cot companion for the newborn.

* 2570, 1 G’fri (22) and Tyxana (20) send Teeahn (2) to the crèche after her second nameday. Sokon is too young to remember this, however regular visits from both Teeahn and Aeylah (4) mean she’s quite familiar with her siblings.

* 2571, 2 It is Sokon’s turn to be sent to the crèche. No longer reliant solely on her mother for care, she is adopted into the expanded family unit of the crèche. Aeylah (5), and Teeahn (3), do not hesitate to welcome her to crèche life, and regular visits to their parents’ (23 & 21) weyr as well as from their parents themselves ensure that all three girls are never in doubt as to whose children they were. The crèche expands greatly with the influx of surviving weyrbrats from High Reaches Weyr. Sokon’s small family unit tightens, and visits from their parents become more frequent as the increased fighting power gives them more opportunity to rest.

* 2573, 4 Chaisooli is born, Sokon and her sisters (7 & 5) have a little brother to dote on. Aeylah has been doing errands for their parents (25 & 23) for little over a turn, now, and sees less of Sokon, Teeahn and Chaisooli outside of mealtimes and lessons. The family bond remains strong, however and Aeylah’s absence is seen as a practical one.

* 2574, 5 Sokon’s family unit remains strong (26, 24, 8, 6 and 1). The death of her father’s wingmate during a fall causes him great grief, and Sokon stumbles on him sobbing at his failure to save him. It is the first time she has known someone affected by the deadly rain that she had grown up knowing, and she is emotionally shaken at the breakdown it caused, even briefly, in a man who had always been an unwavering pillar in the wake of the storm. She starts to notice each death more, now, and despite her age, her personality alters ever so slightly to protect herself from the emotional pain caused by grief. As she grows, this change becomes more pronounced, until cementing the personality traits she currently exhibits. Teeahn has now started running errands, and like Aeylah before her starts pulling her proverbial weight, this further solidifies Sokon’s resolve in the practicality of utilising manpower no matter how small. Starts preparing herself for her chance to prove useful to the weyr as a whole the following turn.

* 2575, 6 Chaisooli (2), joins Sokon and her sisters (9 & 7) in the crèche. As before, Tyxana (25) and G’fri (27) are ever present in the lives of all four children when not facing the threat that was the constant threadfall. Sokon starts to run errands for her mother and father, though more often than not it is her mother who asks. Often she is entrusted to carry it out on her own, and her sense of responsibility begins to blossom.

* 2578, 9 Aeylah (12) gets an apprenticeship as a Harper and moves to the Harper Hall. Teeahn (10) takes responsibility for Sokon and their brother (5) and takes it upon herself to assist the crèchemother so as to be closer to Chaisooli while Sokon continues to run errands. Visits to and from their parents (30 & 28) have remained consistent, and pride for the loyalty of all children to the continued survival of Fort Weyr is paramount in their unbridled affection towards all children.

* 2580, 11 Teeahn (12), officially requests to be trained as a crèchemother. Sokon respects the decision, and carries on with her errands, Chaisooli (7) has been tagging along with Sokon for the past turn, assisting with the larger jobs. Aeylah (14) has developed a knack for singing, her soprano voice harmonising well with other harpers in her classgroup. Tyxana (30) and G’fri (32) continue to check in regularly.

* 2581, 12 Teeahn (13) and Sokon (12) are searched by a blue rider who was in attendance at her nameday lunch. Their upbringing ensures both girls regularly accept their candidacy, though Teeahn expresses some upset at not continuing with the crèchemother. The very same night, G’fri (33) and Tyxana (31) bring furiously rocking eggs to the crèche, Aeylah (15) in tow. The six eggs hatch within moments, each family member receiving a flit of their own (Though her parents already owned the parent Fire-lizards). This was the day Sokon received Float, and was given firm instructions on the rearing of him, “Practice for when you impress his cousin.” The following day, both girls move into the candidate barracks to join their ranks. With Aeylah in the Harper Hall and Chaisooli (8) on his own in the crèche, G’fri and Tyxana remove him from the crèche into their weyr, so that he is not alone.

* 2584, 15 Aeylah (18) is searched and impresses later that same turn. The whole family (36, 34, 16, 11) celebrates her achievement and both Sokon and Teeahn view it as a good sign, understanding that it may take a while yet, but that their parent’s blood was running true. Eventually, they would impress. Sokon loses her virginity to a Bronze Rider called D’ion following flight lust caused by a gold dragon’s flight early in the turn, resulting in a son, named Tasik, nine months later. Apart from flight lust, Sokon does not pursue any sexual encounters, and a discussion with her mother leads to the determination to fly between after each encounter to prevent her from having to forgo a chance on the sands due to pregnancy. Her absolute horror the first time she chose to do this had no equal in her mind, and it only the idea that she would need to get used to it if she ever wanted to be a dragon rider made her tolerate it. She still needs to talk herself into the trip whenever it is necessary, and will often find herself murmuring the mantra “Cough thrice and you’re through” before going between. Fortunately, the fear numbs her so thoroughly, that she is able to conduct jumps in tandem so long as she is able to get sufficient rest after it is done – a feat her mother assisted her in discovering when she found out how the bleak nothingness terrified her. As she is unable to care for a child while in the candidate barracks, G’fri and Tyxana take him into their weyr, Chaisooli taking care of him when his parents were fighting thread. Like her parents before her, Tasik is not left without knowing his mother, and Sokon enjoys his company outside of her duties. The busy schedule of a bronze rider means that D’ion does not have as much to do with Tasik as Sokon, though whether or not it is a bad thing for him remains to be seen.

* 2585, 16 Chaisooli (12) follows in his oldest sister’s footsteps, impressing in the same year he is searched taking the honorific “C’sooli”. Sokon and Teeahn (17) meet this with celebration once again, and no resentment. The same blood shares their veins and while the wait is undeniably long, surely they still have a chance. Tasik (1) spends some time with Sokon in the candidate barracks whenever G’fri (37) and Tyxana (35) are tied up with their rider duties, though it is not a great burden for her to bear, and she enjoys his company, allowing her more playful side to be more prevalent whenever he’s around.

* 2587, 18 The year the pass ended. Sokon’s family (39, 37, 21, 19, 14, & 3) were separated only briefly during the move, however they were quickly reunited and settled into the routine of taming the unknown wilds that claimed Southern Winds Weyr. The appearance of a black dragon during the first hatching was met with great suspicion, however as he grew, Sokon’s outright concern dulled to nonchalance so long as she didn’t have to deal directly with the black and his rider. The native fauna of Fort Island cause some grief, particularly when Sokon finds herself unable to go for runs outside of the passages of the weyr despite no longer needing to fear threadfall. Despite the interval, Sokon’s parents have found themselves overly occupied in assisting with the resettlement, and Tasik has been shuffled between the candidate barracks (outside of lessons and chores), G’fri and Tyxana’s weyr and the crèche dependent solely on who can look after him when.

* 2589, 20 Black Neisoth flies Kalestath, and the resulting clutch produces more dragons with the same colouration, with the addition of red dragons. Sokon’s response is immediate. They may not be the colours of old, but more than one meant they were just as natural as the hunters that plagued their island. No longer would she keep her distance from the odd colouring, and so long as they proved able to fly as well as any other dragon to protect their new home, she would harbour no ill will towards them.

* 2590, 21 G’fri is in his 42rd turn, Tyxana in her 40th, Aeylah in her 24th, Teeahn in her 22nd, C’sooli in his 17th and Tasik is in his 6th, living almost permanently at the crèche with the opportunity to visit whomever he pleases. Together they bring in the new turn in style, catching up with each other’s antics and openly mourning the losses incurred to get them to the place they were that day. It was Teeahn’s last turn on the sands, and Sokon’s second last, and while there was still no disappointment at their lack of a bonded, both women had been discussing at length their pursuits should they be left standing much longer. The new turn did not start out as well as it ended, however, and the tragedy at the beach the day after caused Sokon a great deal of pain. Despite the grief, Imyth’s hatching occurred the day after, and both she and her sister were given a reason to dwell less on the catastrophe and more on the future. On the second day of the first month of the year 2590, two dragons found their bonded in Creath to Sokon and another dragon to Teeahn, all concern for the betweened dragonets and the death of so many paling in comparison to the reality that was their dragon. Of course as befitted the impression of their children, mother and father celebrated the new weyrlings with as much vigour as they had the others, albeit privately, for not all those in the weyr that night had cause to celebrate, with the four betweened dragonets leaving a leery crowd over those that attended the hatching.

She hadn’t wanted to get out of her cot that morning, the warmth of her son against her chest comforting in the aftermath of yesterday’s despair. It was not something that she allowed often, but it couldn’t be helped, he had refused to sleep anywhere else and once every few months wouldn’t hurt. Despite her desire to stay there curled protectively around Tasik, the drive to actually do something instead of wallowing in her misery forced her awake, and she was quick to throw the furs off her and get dressed in her daily attire.
The boy who mirrored so much of her own appearance stirred, grumbling in protest at the cold spot his mother left, though the firelizard that had been resting at his feet quickly moved to steal the child’s warmth. “Keep him safe, Float.” Sokon whispered, giving the flit an affectionate rub and planting a soft kiss on Tasik’s forehead before pulling the bedfurs up to cover both, only the soft, melodic trill any sign the bronze had heard her. She took a few moments to ensure she was presentable, her face a mask to hide the grief she felt. It was just another day, and there was business to attend to.

The morning flew past, and Sokon was given little time to think beyond the task at hand, something she was grateful for. Then, the tell-tale humming began, and she excused herself. A hatching? So soon? She thought, excusing herself from her current duties to return to the barracks, fully aware by now of the process that was in place. She bumped into her sister on the way, and couldn’t hide the grin from spreading over her face. “Race you?” A hatching was perfect. Already the humming of dragons was filling the air, and she couldn’t help but revel in the joyous sound as she dashed away from Teeahn, not bothering to wait for an answer. It didn’t matter that there had been deaths the day before, nor that she had very little time left to impress. Hatchings were always merry affairs, despite the occasional maulings that occurred.

She checked in with Float, pleased to see that Tasik had him occupied with some game in the weyr hall. He knew the drill by now too, and would not risk the wrath of a queen dragon to follow her. She threw her robes on, giving only a cursory brush-down to the white cloth before darting out, a flash of pink as her tongue darted from her mouth at the sight of her sister, never the one to rush as she did, was met still outside the barracks. “Meet you there.” She called, before heading to the sands.

Teeahn had made it to her side by the time they were ready to file in, and they took their place with all the eagerness with which they had met every hatching since they were searched. Three marks passed before the appearance of a blue hatchling, though Sokon was not one to disrespect the clutch mother by fidgeting, regardless of the burning sands beneath her feet. Any joy she had at seeing the first hatchling was immediately dismissed however, as he tumbled into another egg, the force of his movement smashing it open and causing a green hatchling to tumble out with a shrieking protest. She wanted to move forward, to comfort the green, and had already taken a few steps forward before she caught herself. So intent was she on the keening dragonet that she almost missed the blue’s clumsiness causing a second green to spill out. She mentally curses the blue, she didn’t think it could be a good thing for eggs to hatch before their time, and here he was causing it to happen all willy-nilly. Where was his bonded? Why had he not chosen anyone so the candidate-come-weyrling could stop the disarray? For the first time since the dragon’s hatching song, Sokon considered that the losses the day before could mean dragonet’s unable to impress. Her concern was short lived however, as one of her peers’ steps forward to claim him.

Her eyes snap back to the first green as a sharp keen is heard, Imyth’s voice confirming that one of her hatchlings had gone between. At the same time, she realises that the first green is looking right at her, dark hide decorated with sand from the tumble with damp hide.

I will not ask again, Sokon. Feed your Creath. Worry not for I have found you.  She charged forward and throws herself at the green dragonet, her eyes watering from the sensations filling her mind and soul. “I’m sorry, Creath. I’ll never let you go hungry” she whispered, brushing away some of the sand half-heartedly before standing, guiding her Creath off the sands.

I cannot express how pleased I am to be able to bring Sokon and Creath back to life here at Southern Weyr. She is a very old character as far as my roleplaying timeline goes, and so her family is structured on my own family in regards to siblings and parents, but it ends there. She is not me, pernified. Though she used to be, once ‘cause N00b. I just couldn’t bear to cut her family out. Which is why I haven’t changed them.

Place of Birth:
Southern Winds Weyr
Clutch Mother:
Imyth
Clutch Father:
Thianorth
Measurements:
Mature Length: 25 metres
Mature Height:  5 metres
Mature Wingspan: 44 metres

General Appearance...

Creath’s base colour is a teal green, brighter patches decorating her hide and giving it a rippled effect. Both colours remain with her throughout her whole life, though as she matures, the splotches seem to find each other, giving her body and wings a paler, smoother tint, the brighter colours becoming more pronounced when she is in direct sunlight. Her colour does not change beyond this and, when in the later stage of her life cycle, a slight greying around her muzzle.
As a hatchling, Creath’s oversize wings constantly pose problems, and she’s taken to shuffling while she walks to minimise the times she’s stepped on them. Thankfully, as her muscles get stronger, they are less likely to get underfoot, though she still finds them quite heavy and awkward. She will grow to be the maximum size for her colour, and her proportions will be perfectly normal excepting the wings, which will be twice the size of her body by the time she is fully grown. She will never lose the habit of shuffling when on the ground, and while she will be no less clumsy for the awkward gait, she will become better at disguising the shuffle. Despite the wings, she possesses the same, lithe body of most greens, granting her a graceful disposition while flying.

Personality...

Mind Voice: Maternal, clipped and low in tone, though unmistakably feminine.

Likes:
Flying: It may seem normal for a dragon to enjoy flying, but for Creath it means doing away with her ungainly gait that has restricted her for so long and actually being able to show off her agility and grace. Her larger wingspan gives her better stamina than average for a green and her lithe body pairs nicely with it, allowing her to keep up with all but the most complicated tricks. By the time she is fully capable of flight with her rider, Creath is inclined to attempt to fly straight whenever possible instead of flitting between from place to place. Basically, if there is room for her to be aloft, she will attempt to be so unless expressly ordered not to.
Puzzles: She may not be great at them, but Creath adores puzzles. Usually in the form of riddles, Creath can spend days at a time trying to find the answer, taking great pride in providing answers regardless of if they’re correct or not. Similarly, drills and formations she appreciates for the mental challenge they provide, and even though she may be forced into close quarters with others during those times, focusing on the task presented to her helps alleviate her nerves.

Dislikes:
Unassisted Take-off’s: Contrary to enjoying her aerial ability, Creath has never been able to appreciate the necessity that is getting air born from a static point. Ledges are a much more convenient way to get aloft, and she treats any time where she is unable to use a fall to fly with complete and utter disdain. Particularly when she has to do it with Sokon riding her. Her bonded didn’t weigh much but she would swear that if it weren’t for sheer willpower, she would never be able to make it off the ground with her rider attached.
Space Invasion: Creath has a line. It’s an invisible line that surrounds her like a bubble. The only people able to cross into that invisible bubble are her bonded and the little flit that follows her. Anyone, or anything else will be met with outright aggression unless they have been introduced and given permission to approach. Whether or not the proddiness caused by her mating flight would be the exception to the rule remains to be seen. It’s an unfortunate offshoot of the clumsy dragonet that forced her from her shell before she was absolutely ready to hatch, and while she was alive and well, the need to keep her distance is absolute.

Strengths:

* EMPATHIC : As a weyrling, Creath was always aware of the feelings of others around her, and as she grew that empathy did as well. While she will never challenge a bluerider’s empathy, Creath does possess above average empathy herself, and will possibly be able to sense the ability for people to impress at hatchings when she reaches adulthood, though never as often or accurately as true searchdragons, so despite the possibility, she will never act on her feelings, leaving that job to the blue dragons themselves. She will be more inclined to speak to candidates however, and less likely to talk to those without the capacity to be dragonriders.

* AERIAL GRACE : As clumsy Creath is on land, she is as graceful in the sky, her instinctive understanding of the air currents allows her to manoeuvre quickly and efficiently regardless of her restrictions. Once she’s in the air she’s (almost) unstoppable. Quick, strong and agile, she is truly in her element in the air.

Weaknesses:

* CLUMSY ON LAND : While proportioned correctly, the unusual size of her wings caused Creath to adopt an odd gait to accommodate the weight and her tendency to step on them. It makes her slow and unable to move quickly should she need to respond to a threat, any action that she hasn’t fully prepared for potentially causing her to throw herself entirely off balance. Unfortunately, this trait never completely disappears, often making itself known in situations Creath deems “Entirely innappropriate’

* IMPULSIVE : Tied with her empathic nature, her instinctive urge to lash out at someone based on an impulsive thought causes her some major grief. She tends to go with the first thought that comes to mind, and will act on it without questioning whether the interpretation is sound. While her response isn’t always violent, it can be aggressive either through her posture or her verbal actions. Combined with her distaste of people in her personal space, the chance of injury to a person is high, and insult to a dragon quite possibly higher. She is immediately apologetic should her action cause harm though, so there’s that.

Flit Details

Name:
Float
Pronounced:
[Flowt]
Color:
Bronze
Date of Birth:
30.05.2581 9th Pass.
Place of Birth:
Fort Weyr.

General Appearance...

Float was born a solid golden-bronze, with no discolouration marring his hide. Since reaching maturity however, a shaggy, chocolate brown strip has appeared, decorating from his forehead, along his spine, down the length of his tail until the last third of it, where it starts to spiral until solidifying to completely cover his tailfork. Mottling in the same colour has since appeared on his wingsails, though he has shown no sign of further colouration changes. While smaller than normal at birth, he has reached the average size for a Bronze, and possesses no other distinguishing features.

Personality...

Mind Voice: High pitched but not as grating as one would think, varying slightly depending on his mood at the time.

Likes:
Creath: At the moment Creath is just a babe, and his affection towards her is one of paternal nature. He is, however besotted with her, and when she matures, he will (try to) claim her as his mate. He will refuse to fly fire-lizards, though each time Creath rises he will soar to the challenge, succumbing to satisfying his need with a green or gold firelizard only when he is unable to chase her any longer – which will often be within the first five to ten minutes considering the speed difference. He will try, however, for he cannot help but be absolutely infatuated with her. On the plus side he helps out with oiling and, when he can manage it, bringing her food scraps. Useful when she was smll but not so brilliant once she grows up.
Singing: Float has a good voice on him, and he adores using it. When not attached to Soon for whatever reason, he will often venture in search of harpers, the best place, he’s found, to settle down and chirp along to whatever song may be underway on his arrival.

Dislikes:
Brown, Blue, (Male) Red, Black and Bronze Dragons: The dastardly villains to his one-flit show. If it weren’t for their insistence to give chase to Creath every time she flew he figured he’d stand a bit of a chance. Again, though, his dislike of the male dragons of the weyr only rears its head after Creath hits maturity, prior to that he views them with disinterest. For at least the sevenday following Creath’s flights, Float will greet any dragon he saw chasing her grief for doing so, and the one who managed to catch her is met with downright animosity. During this time he’s often rounded in Sokon’s weyr, for fear of bringing embarrassment to the rider.
Running Errands He can do it, certainly, but he tries to make himself scarce whenever Sokon starts thinking about getting him to do something. Coercion works. Just don’t expect him to seek out jobs nor act quickly when (finally) tasked to do something.

Anything Else:
Yeah, so Float may have been dropped as a hatchling. He was perfectly content to fly his own species before Sokon impressed Creath, but all interest is securely on the green dragon now. Between Sokon and Creath, he has no time for anyone or anything else.

Flit Details

Name:
Sky
Pronounced:
How you'd say it.
Color:
Blue
Date of Birth:
17.05.2590 9th Interval.
Place of Birth:
Southern Wind Weyr

General Appearance...

He might be small, but that isn't how he views himself in the slightest. In fact, he'll challenge the biggest bronze going and be fearless doing it. This blue has soft delicate almost seeming markings that remind the viewer of watching clouds cross the sky; that is however the only delicate thing about him. The rest is a lean and agile flyer who is unafraid of taking risks or diving anyone who upsets him or his bonded with a swift bugle of challenge.

Personality...

Mind Voice: He isn't a talker, obviously, but rather than he is vocal in his own way. Lots of sounds but also very surprisingly clear pictures and images. This is a flit who knows what he wants and is clear in sharing it. He is obviously intelligent as he is one of the few who is readily trained and willing to learn. There is a brightness to the few words he does use to express himself; that clarity of purpose that shapes the rest of him.

Likes:
-- FLYING; when he is awake then he isn't the sort to sun himself or anything like that. He is an active soul and it shows. He is rarely found in the same place twice. Though one of the few exceptions is when is bonded is eating or otherwise unable to join him outside.
-- BEING OUTSIDE; the idea of not being able to fly as, when and where he wants is not welcome or encouraged. He is not one of those flits who will settle comfortable in company. At least not if it means being inside. This only really changes at night when he sleeps.
-- RACING; and playing in general. He loves to play with the other flits and isn't shy about approaching any of for games and the like, particularly ones that allow him to race around in flight and show off his skills.

Dislikes:
-- FISH; he isn't one anything at all related to the ocean. He is far more interested in anything meaty and will definitely spend a lot of time pouting if he isn't being offered it for pretty much every meal. But he will swallow it down reluctantly.
-- GOLDS; they are the only flits or dragons he'll listen to but that doesn't have to like it very much. He personally thinks they are a whole lot of stuffy and pompous in not understanding how important it is to fly and have fun.
