Guest Info Plot & Events

Current Month
4.2590 A.R.
9th Interval

Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every 4 or 5 OOC days. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Flits here, as well as whers.  There are Candidate events and classes and Crafter plots. A little bit of something for everyone.

The sun glinted off of her freshly oiled green hide, like olive oil on a freshly pruned leaf, and Olaryth crooned in pleasure. She was pleased that her rider managed to have a few minutes to oil her hide at lunch and that the sheen lasted through the wrestling drills that the dragon's of Beach Wing went through today. Olaryth took her eyes off of the verdant color of her hide, her eyes matching, when she heard the clanging of metal against metal.

She was perched on a moderately-sized ledge that overlooked the training field below where the riders of the Beach Wing were currently sparring. She focused in on her rider, T'lor, who was currently squared off with another rider, a thin sword in his hand. He was posed like a fencer and parried almost all of the other rider's attacks. She hummed a proud note as she watched him disarm his opponent. Despite his calm and peaceful manner, he definitely enjoyed working with weapons.

Her attention was drawn upwards as she heard the tell-tale thump-thump sound of inbound dragon wings. She bellowed a greeting and shifted towards her left to allow for room to land. When she was alone, Olaryth tended to hog the entire ledge, but she was pleasant enough to share a ledge.

Dallarth looked around for something to do. It was fun watching M'dak spar sure, but he wanted someone to talk too and he knew, that during sparring time, there would be more than enough other Beach Wing dragons for him to talk to.

The young brown looked around and spotted Olaryth, glistening beautifully and sunning herself on the ledge above him. His rider and her rider had not talked much he was sure, but that didn't mean he couldn't talk to her. Sure that the older dragon would be interesting to talk to and fill in his time.

Olaryth! I spotted you shining up here and I couldn't resist coming over to talk to you. It may have sounded like inconsequential flirting, but the brown was being serious, not much of a flirter himself. He simply like to compliment people, or what he liked to say, tell them the truth, and it was. The brown was simply a socialite, and liked to make people and other dragons happy in his company, Dallarth having found that telling them they looked nice was one of the ways to make other dragons happy.

He hummed in thanks as the green moved over to give him room to land on the ledge. Our riders surely look like they're having a good time. Yours is very skilled. M'dak didn't do too badly for himself, the young brown rider was quick and nimble on his feet, and worked hard outside of drills to ensure that he could match most sparring partners put against him. Although, Dallarth thought that he may have trouble going up against Olaryth's rider, once again, he had been telling the truth, T'lor was very skilled.

Spoiler for OOC:
I couldn't resist jumping in here with Dallarth, let me know if this is okay.

Olaryth crooned in response to the young brown's compliment. She was a vain creature, constantly preening and decorating herself with flowers and other leafy greens. But today, she wore none of such accoutrements; she did not dare smudge her oily sheen. Not one to be rude, she responded to the young brown with a compliment of her own. You have grown quite well. The compliment came off as motherly, though the brown was much bigger than her. She was present at the brown's Hatching and, though she possessed draconic memory, she did remember the young brown's development.

It is good that your rider, and mine, can enjoy their training, yes. But it is important for them to remember that it is, indeed, still training. Olaryth hummed. She was in a good mood. The sun was warming her aging bones and a light breeze was keeping the bugs away from her. She shifted slightly and snaked her head around to look at Dallarth for the first time. How is your rider today? Olaryth asked, offering the courtesy that is commonly found in the draconic attitudes.

Thank you! The brown responded excitedly to Olaryth. Rustling his wings on his back, he settled himself next to Olaryth, stretching his legs out in front of him and his tail looping over the edge of the ledge and twitching there, almost feline-like.

Dallarth snorted amusedly at Olaryth's comment that they should remember that it is training. My rider thinks of nothing else, Olaryth, he doesn't forget. Take things very seriously.

M'dak is always quiet and busy at the same time. He is just the same today. And how is yours?

Olaryth's eyes focused momentarily on the twitch tail of the brown. It was an odd movement to her, something that she had not seen too frequently among her species. It seemed carefree and happy. Most of the dragons that she knew where relaxed, but not relaxed enough to seem carefree. It was refreshing. My rider worries for his child. She was injured when the Hunters attacked. Olaryth shifted her gaze back to her rider. Training is good for him. It gives him peace of mind.

There were two pops and puffs of condensed vapor as a bronze firelizard and a brown firelizard appeared from between. They crooned a greeting to their green cousin before they simultaneously squawked with surprise at the sight of the larger brown. The portrayed images of surprise and awe at the dragon's size. The fluttered off a few lengths before settling on the ledge themselves. They sprawled out on their backs, wings spread, but kept their eyes on their green and brown cousins.

Of all the things that must be done in a day, Niema hated Rider drills. Whether it was sparring with another Rider or fixing nets in the Fisher Hall, it was the time of day for drills where she was separate from her dear Vorloruth. Of course a Rider had to maintain a good physical condition and that was why she was currently doing a laps around the weyrbowl with the others who weren’t currently sparring.

Didn’t mean she didn’t hate it. Sweating. Running. Ugh.

Vorloruth, however, was now free to do as she pleased. Rider drills was free time for dragons. A time when their bonded took care of themselves, if only for a little bit. She’d already spent time hauling nets and catching fish. Now she took the opportunity to join some of the other dragons perched along the ledges, watching and sunning themselves. Vorloruth landed higher up than Olaryth and Dallarth. She was just as vain, if not more so, than the other Green and didn’t necessarily want to be around her. But a Brown? Well, Vorloruth did have a thing for Browns.

Hello Dallarth, she hummed before glancing at Olaryth. Reluctantly, she added, Hello.

A deep green to rival the jungle shadows, Vorloruth flared her wings. The undersail was a brilliant, almost neon green that clashed beautifully with the rest of her hide. That same brighter color dappled her neck and top of her head – like sunlight piercing through thick foliage. A pretty green, for certain, and one that definitely knew she was. Vorloruth settled on her stomach on the warm stone to watch, though her attention was idly on Dallarth.

His attention focussed on the new firelizard arrivals, the large brown craned his head towards them. Firelizards amused him, he liked them, and tried not to be too scary, so he sent them images of a warm sunny day, and the time he had sunbaked on a rock with M'dak's Rudas, all interspersed with some very positive emotions, hopefully that would encourage them to not be afraid of him.

Sure, maybe he looked scary. But he was a big softy truthfully.

Dallarth was distracted when the green arrived. He couldn't help but admire Vorloruth in her flight up above his head, although was probably being a little bit too obvious with his staring, his neck craning to watch her as she landed, and he hummed in admiration at the beautiful colour of her undersails.

Good afternoon Vorloruth. He thrummed, deep and low in his chest, pleased and welcoming to the new green.

Good afternoon, Vorloruth, Olaryth greeted the younger green. While she was light and bright, Vorloruth carried the depths of green only found in the jungles of the island. Your scales shimmer beautifully today, she complimented. The older green dragon shifted slightly so that she could see the darker green dragon without having to turn her head. The ledge was too warm to want to waste needless movement on.

Though she was vain, she was not offended that the brown dragon found more interest in Vorloruth. Olaryth had a mate and had been with that mate for Turns. She did not want a new one, despite the fact that they may have been younger and more spirited. She was bonded to her blue and would not willingly change her caught her in her Flights.

How is your rider, Vorloruth? Olaryth queried respectfully. Right now, the riders of the three dragons could see their riders training below but it was good manners to greet a newcomer in such a way.

Vorloruth liked the attention Dallarth paid her. If she preened a little more, fanned her wings more so, who was to say? Her eyes settled into a deep blue of contentment as she relaxed in the warmth. Though the spring usually meant it could be windy, the day seemed too good to be true. Sunny, cloudless, warm. Everything a dragon could hope for as they waited for their riders to complete their own drills.

Vorloruth didn’t look at Olaryth, or physically acknowledge the other Green, but she didn’t need to in order to answer. Niema dislikes her own drills, but she completes them to the Wingleader’s satisfaction. Your own? She might be a proud, vain creature, but she could be polite. To Dallarth, who did have her attention, she thrummed and teased, Are all browns always so handsome? She meant it in good humor, of course. There was no heated interest. Vorloruth wasn’t proddy and she was quite familiar with him since their riders had worked together before.

That and she had Berynth to keep her company when she was proddy. She just happened to be a flirty, playful dragon.

Dallarth was not really affected by any of the possible undercurrents between the two greens. Not particularly the most observant, he didn't seem to notice the lack of physical acknowledgement towards the other green, but partially because they didn't need to.

He rumbled happily when she acknowledged him however. Oh, I wouldn't know. Brown always seemed like a boring colour to me, we don't get much of the beautiful brightness that you have Vorloruth. And you too Olaryth.

It was not out of pity or even politeness that he included the other green, Dallarth truly did appreciate the green colouring. Being dark himself, he could appreciate all of the dragon colours.

Olaryth shuffled her wings. The other green's attitude did not even faze her; she had been around for far too many turns to let the flirty and dismissive nature of younger dragons bother her. She turned her gaze to the brown dragon. She knew that his rider was one of her own rider's offspring. She hummed at the polite nature that had developed in him.

She responded to the deep chested brown. You are handsome, young one, Olaryth reassured with her lilting and breezy voice. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

The older green turned her attention back to Vorloruth. T'lor understands that drills are what keeps our riders alive. Without them, the ones of the forest would pick them off one by one. There was no tone of criticism or negativity in her voice. Just simple, draconic logic.
