Guest Info Plot & Events

Current Month
4.2590 A.R.
9th Interval

Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every 4 or 5 OOC days. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Flits here, as well as whers.  There are Candidate events and classes and Crafter plots. A little bit of something for everyone.

See previous events here!

Offline Callista

Callista sighed deeply as she sank a bit further into the warm water. She loved relaxing in the baths after a long day. Being in the water not only warmed and eased the tension in her muscles, but the water made her feel a bit lighter—particularly in the abdomen area. Her hands slid around her belly that by now was large enough that she’d begun to use it a bit to set things down on when she needed a free hand quick. Only two more months, and her bronze-riding baby would be born.

The thought elicited a soft laugh from her lips. Obviously a bronze rider wasn’t going to walk right out, but she was convinced that he would end up that way. Beyond the pride in bearing the child of the Jungle Wingseconds’, she was also excited for him to be born because this would be her first. So many of her wingmates already had children. Any time she’d gotten pregnant before, she had always gone between early on. Any of her bed partners at that time hadn’t been worthy enough.

She had decided long ago that she wasn’t going to be anyone great to influence the Weyr. Her mother had always pushed her to change things…to Impress a Gold. When she Impressed Ariyath, she realized her own dreams weren’t to do anything so grand as become a Weyrwoman. But she did decide that she would be the mother of those who were going to do great things and change the Weyr.

The green rider smiled and ran her hand along the side of her protruding stomach. There was a swift kick against her hand followed by a stubborn push. “You’re a feisty one, aren’t you?” She chuckled and leaned back against the edge of the spring. Feisty was a good sign. The past month, the babe had been frequently active. Leaning on one side, kicking, hiccups, just moving around in general. Maybe he (because it must be male to be a bronze rider) had sensed the stress of the past month between the hunter attack and then…yesterday.

She hadn’t seen what happened with the riot. One moment holders were spouting wherry shit near them, and the next thing she remembered, she was being escorted from the Weyr Hall and told to sit tight in her weyr until she heard otherwise. And so she did. And she missed everything. She understood R’sin’s reasoning for having those injured removed before the fight. And maybe she could see why she needed to leave considering the disadvantage she’d be at with such a large belly in the way. But no one had filled her in afterwards. What happened with the holders? Were they punished? Did the riders get involved?

“Maybe Yestine can fill me in,” she absently commented aloud.

Cassipiora was so envious. She settled next to Callista, always mindful of her sensitive but healing ankle and ribs. Her head was doing a lot better. She hadn’t had any dizzy spells or headaches in a couple weeks which, really, should mean she could start training and returning to normal duty any day. Her ribs were about done healing, her ankle was weak but fine.

Really, she was just excited about everything.

In that moment, it was a very pregnant, very beautiful Callista.

The hot water was certainly lovely and a welcomed respite from her day of light physical training. Soon she’d be back out there. As soon as she could get a Healer to tell R’sin. Since she was so close to Callista, Cassipiora heard her murmured commend. “Fill you in on what?” Cassipiora could guess, but she wanted to be sure. Her mind wasn’t exactly on the Holders or their spat from the day before. What did she care? They’d been put in their place. Cassipiora hadn’t been a part of that fight either. She’d been escorted out, still being on light duty and a possible risk. Understandable.

Getting into a fight and risking another head injury was not Cassipiora’s idea of a good time. “If you’re talking about the Holders and their mess from before, I’d heard they’d just gotten one lash. One! Can you believe that? Don’t they lash Prairie riders more than that?” Then, because she couldn’t help herself, Cassipiora smiled sheepishly and indicated Callista’s belly. “Can I?” She wanted to see if the babe was moving.

The bathing pools had been Esclamonde's best friend since her back had gotten ripped to shreds. The healers encouraged daily soaks, even, saying the heat and bubbling water would relax her muscles and help them heal properly. After she started walking laps around the weyr bowl (stubbornly, she might add), she started looking forward to her nightly soak even more than her numbweed applications.

She had her bath stuff tucked under one arm and the other was braced against the cavern walls, pulling herself along the long trail down to the pools. Esclamonde had refused a crutch the moment she felt confident enough to not fall on her face, but sometimes after a long day it just ached to walk.

Making her way into the bathing caverns, Esclamonde's entire demeanor shifted when she saw Cassipiora and Callista tucked into a pool. She carefully picked her way over to the girls and slipped out of her clothing, wincing as she pulled her shirt over her head.

Sinking into the water up to her neck, her sigh of bliss was audible. "Was it just one lash?" she asked. "I thought the riders just received one lash and the holders got more."

All powerplay by Cassipiora is allowed.

Full... Half-full... Fat crafter... Great, is there a single person in the Weyr that isn't in the bathing pools tonight?

Maybe you should join one of them? Iralye could hear the flirty nature of the green's words. That's what I would do. Rolling her eyes as she peeked into another almost full room, Iralye continued to search.

With all the private pools, Iralye had no choice but to head back towards the more public area of the bathing carvern, and it was then she spotted a convergence of fellow Jungle Green riders. She supposed if she was going to have to socialise with others as she relaxed, that would be the best option. Besides, she did like them, she just didn't necessarily choose to relax naked in the company of anyone, regardless of her like or dislike of them.

"Hello ladies." She said quietly, not wanting to completely bust in on their conversation they were having, but curious none-the-less. "Oh! I was there." She nodded her head as she spoke. "Since my hand has been deemed fit for duty again, they didn't rush me out of there with the rest of you." It had been quite a situation, a bloody scrap of both riders and holders, but afterwards, the tension which had settled in the Weyr had seemed slightly lifted. "Just one lash for everyone. R'sin told us to line up the holders, for their punishment, but all the riders volunteered for theirs." Her brow furrowed as she remembered more details. "Even some that weren't even involved I thought." The move of the Beach Riders had not gone unnoticed by Iralye, while she had stayed outside of the fighting, it had given her more of an opportunity to observe.

Done with retelling her knowledge of the story, she slipped out of her clothes and slid into the water beside the rest of them, smiling a little at the warmth of the water ironing out the stress in her muscles.

She had been hoping to catch up with some of the others from her wing, not having been able to have first-hand experience of the event involving the holders. Arlais had heard wildly contradictory accounts from the few people she'd asked and the truth which would be much more welcome seem rather hard to find. Arlais wasn't sure that she would find it at the bathing pools but the odds were at least moderately better that someone would have actually been there.

It had taken her a little while to locate any familiar faces but it had been the convergence of her fellow members of the jungle wing that had finally got her attention "Really Iralye? I've been heating all sorts of different things most of the afternoon. You make it sound so.... mundane really" she was teasing a little bit, as she settled herself into the warm welcome of the hot water. It was exactly what Arlais needed - even if her day had been an apparently quieter one than that enjoyed by several others. Which only went to show that she had missed all the fun and action going on around here lately.

"What exactly sparked it all off? Anyone heard about that?" Arlais asked settling her nude self down and leaning her head back slightly at the same time. While she was waiting for an answer she might as well enjoy the comfort provided by the pools.

Callista looked up just as Cassi gently eased herself into the water beside her. She was immediately glad for the company, considering she’d just asked Ariyath to see if Yestine had time to join her. She smiled at her wingmate and fellow green rider. “I was hoping to hear how Jungle Wing put those dimglows in their place. I think I even heard R’sin was teaching them a lesson.” She grinned, then frowned at the comment about a single lash. “That’s it? That’s not going to do much. It’ll be healed in no time.”

Her hand moved to the side of her belly where Cassi was seated, and found the stubborn foot still pressed firmly there. Callista chuckled and indicated on her belly where her wingmate would be able to feel him. “He’s getting more energetic by the day. I think he wants out of here already.” She turned when Escla joined them. “I hope that’s the case.” One by one, the Jungle green riders began to trickle in. Not so lonely anymore, are you? The green rumbled softly with laughter coloring her mind voice.

Once Iralye chimed in that she’d actually been there, Callista perked to attention. The confirmation of only one lash was disappointing. The holders weren’t going to stop their nagging from just the one. The next time she heard them complain about construction stopping, she was going to just drop them off at the construction site and let them fight off the hunters themselves.  She nodded with understanding when Ira commented on the riders volunteering for theirs. Yes, riders were respectable and would take the punishment for fighting without a fuss.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that the holders made a fuss about the one lash. How they get anything done is beyond me.” The holders had no sense of discipline or accountability for their actions. The Weyr had structure. Order. Rules to follow, that when broken, led to punishment. It was very cut and dry. And it held so many people in line that they never worried about riots among the riders. What did confuse her was the added statement of riders who weren’t involved getting lashes. “They volunteered? Which Wing were they from?” It wouldn’t take much of a guess to figure it out.

While the Jungle riders knew their place and when to take punishment, there was no way any of them who hadn’t been involved would volunteer. Prairie riders weren’t so noble—they were out for themselves more than anything. And with Mountain gone, it left Beach. The self-righteous Wing that always seemed to try and act all noble. As for what started it, she still wasn’t sure what all the fuss had been about. “I remember them shouting dumb remarks one minute, but I hadn’t cared enough to really listen. Then R’sin had us leave, so…” she shrugged.

Cassipiora managed to contain her squeal of job when Callista indicated where she might feel the baby – and sure enough, he was there. Cassipiora’s hand smoothed over Callista’s belly, an affectionate touch for her fellow Green Rider, before she returned to her place next to Callista. “I’m sure he’ll be a strong son,” she remarked fondly.

When Iralye recounted her being there, Callista nodded a little. She knew that the Riders had taken their own lashings – R’sin had as well. She’d expected nothing less. Of course Jungle would volunteer for theirs and… well, honestly, every Rider should. Cassipiora wasn’t sad she missed the fight, not with just starting to recover herself, but she had wished to be there to support her Wing if nothing else.

Granted, she knew the importance of not being in the way too.

“I had already heard complaints coming down here,” Cassipiora added. “About how the Holders had been abused by Jungle Wing.” At that, she scoffed. “Can you imagine? One lash and they’re acting like they were really beat.” As to who had started it… Well. “I’m not sure who, but I know it was our Wing that threw the first punch.” Not that it bothered Cassipiora any. Jungle shouldn’t be made to listen to such runnershit from the Holders.

"Ah cha, ah cha, ah cha," the words accompanied the sound of an uneven and light gait as it echoed down the cavern. It was the pitter-patter of the bare feet of one of the Jungle Wing's blue riders. Kaladesi winced her way down the dark cavern, a worn towel wrapped around her bare body and a basket of glows, uncovered, and carried ahead of her.

The crafters and holders that she passed by gawked at her lack of clothing. Stuffy holderfolk. Its like they've never seen skin before! she scoffed to herself. A gentle, husky voice whisked through her head, her lovely blue bonded spoke with her. You know, many riders come from the same type of people. They are not stuffy, they are just not used to Weyr life. Desi rolled her eyes at the blue, despite him not being able to see her. Don't you roll your eyes at me. You know that I am right. Somehow, the blue always seemed to know that she did that to him. Maybe he just guess from the emotions that Desi gave off, or maybe he could even sense the eye roll.

Kaladesi was chuckling at the blue dragon when she rounded the corner to her favorite bath. She paused for a second. It was full; full of her favorite ladies in the Weyr. While the browns and bronzes in the Jungle Wing claimed the green riders as their own, Desi knew that only she could give them the satisfaction that a lady could.

She grinned from ear to ear and entered the bath chamber. "Ah cha, ah cha." The smile faded from her face as she winced her way towards the warm water. Kaladesi dropped her towel to the floor, revealing a few healing scars on the back of her right calf. The tiny woman slipped into the water from the ledge with a hissing "ah." The warmth of the water brought a satisfied look to the redhead's face until it splashed under the water level.

The surface of the water bubbled as Kaladesi blew all her breath out in frustration. She fought against the water and made her way to steps of the bath. It was the only place that the short woman could sit. She emerged from the water, flopped down on one of the steps and crossed her arms, pouting about the depth of the pool. It was warm though and the water lapped at her body at belly button height.

She sighed, slowly catching up on the conversation. "I saw it. It was Y'tol! He threw the first punch! And the holder that got his face reshaped... well, he deserved it." Kaladesi nodded emphatically.

She looked about at the other girls and smiled softly. She was a sort of anomaly in the Jungle Wing, which was a predominately traditional wing. She held a traditional mindset about Weylife and Holdlife, yet she was a woman that Impressed a blue dragon. When she was first assigned to the Jungle Wing, she was afraid that she would not find her place in the Wing, but she proved her mettle and the girls accepted them as one of their own.

Iralye stayed quiet while the other girls talked for a while, and only really responded when she was directly spoken to by Callista. She didn't feel the need to fill in the gaps, the other Jungle Greenies were very much capable of doing that themselves. Unusually, Iralye was comfortable with this companionship, and raised an eyebrow sardonically at Callista questioning which wing volunteered.

"Do you really need to ask? We were the ones beating them up," she said with a sparkle of excitement in her eyes, "and the other two don't really want to read with anymore than they already have. Of course it was Beach."

With Kaladesi's reasonably dramatic entrance, Iralye simply nodded in acknowledgement of the blue rider's words. Desi was sort of an honorary greenie for them, as much as Iralye wasn't particularly fond of everything about her, she was still in Jungle Wing, which put her head and shoulders (figuratively, definitely not literally) above most of the rest of the Weyr.

"You should have seen how angry Y'tol was." Their usually more kindhearted Jungle Bronzer had really flown off the handle. "They started throwing out the slave word and he really blew his top."

It was kind of hot really. Not that she intended on admitting that out loud.

"Y'tol threw the first punch?" Esclamonde interjected, opening her eyes and sitting up in surprise. "No way. M'kale had to have had something to do with that." Y'tol was so sweet! In bed, in helping her... M'kale was always the furious one.

She grinned at Kaladesi and scooted over to sit near the other woman. For all of Esclamonde's strict views of weyr hierarchy and the roles everyone played, Kaladesi was one of the few blueriders who she acknowledged. Part of it was the fact that she was a woman. Male blueriders were of no interest to her, but another lady in Jungle? She'd reach out to them anyways.

It was just a bonus that Kaladesi also agreed with how Jungle viewed the rolls of the weyr and didn't try to be a greenie just like them.

"How many riders got lashed?" Esclamonde asked their gathered group at large. "Was it everyone in the hall?"

Callista wasn’t surprised that the holders had tried to say that they’d been abused by Jungle. They couldn’t handle one measly lash. It was no wonder they were such a mess. No accountability for their actions. If they didn’t learn that quick while they were all stuck here together, they wouldn’t last long. Not that she particularly cared if they didn’t.

She looked up when Kaladesi suddenly chimed in with who had actually thrown the first punch from Jungle. She hadn’t even seen the blue rider come in, but then, it was like a Jungle green rider festival happening down here at this point. Even though Desi rode a blue, she was still considered by the others as an honorary green. Callista’s eyes widened as Iralye elaborated on Y’tol before Escla jumped in.

The green rider laughed and joined in again. “Yea, if I had to place a bet, it would have been on M’kale. But I can see him getting riled up over some of the crackdust they were spouting. The holders may have started the battle, but Jungle knows how to finish it.” She grinned with pride at their Wing. They weren’t going to take the holders’ wherry shit laying down. They didn’t have the right to an opinion with all that the riders had to do for them. They should just be grateful they were taken south when the Pass ended and given food and shelter.

She turned back to Escla when she asked another question. Well, everyone in Jungle had volunteered and Beach as well according to Iralye. Mountain was away as usual, so…“I doubt Prairie Wing did anything—fighting or volunteering for lashes. If there were even any Prairie riders around.” She hardly paid any attention to that Wing, so they could have all been off lazing about somewhere for all she knew during the entire fiasco.

Desi smiled at Esclamonde when she scooted over to sit near her. Desi rested her had on Escla's shoulder momentarily, like she was hugging her without using her arms. When she lifted her head back up, she nodded towards Callista, though she stuck out her bottom lip slightly and furrowed her brows. "I think some of the Prairie Wingriders were involved too. I think the one... you know, what's his face, the one that rides that one brown..." She slapped the water gently, which sent ripples through the surface. "Shards, I can't remember his name."

She shrugged, "Well, I do know that Z'tai took a lashing. All the Wingleaders did." Desi nodded enthusiastically. "They showed those Holders what real honor was. They showed them that the riders who are risking their lives everyday are not above receiving the discipline that they were handing out."
