Current Month

Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every 4 or 5 OOC days. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Flits here, as well as whers.  There are Candidate events and classes and Crafter plots. A little bit of something for everyone.

See previous events here!

Tired of Waiting [07.04.2590] 5:30am // K'zaya
« on: February 15, 2017, 04:16:45 AM »
Inanna was sick and tired of waiting in her Weyr for someone to come seek her out. Enough was enough. She was a nubile, young woman, who deserved to have suitors barging into her room during a queen flight. And if no one was going to come a-barging, she was going to drag a loser into the nearest reasonably secluded area.

Stumbling out of her Weyr and into the corridor, she staggered towards where she vaguely knew, in the back of her mind, the failed suitors of Imyth would be soon stumbling out as well. Bronze, brown or blue. She'd take them all. Inanna didn't have any preferences, she really just didn't want to be alone during a flight like this.

Wouldn't you be so much more comfortable spending your night alone? Cremath, shy as ever, asked. Knowing that if Inanna brought someone back to their Weyr, that Cremath would likely have to share her ledge with the dragon of said rider, for a least a short period of time, while he was picked up later on in the day.

Cremath would have been much happier if she wasn't put in the company of any failed dragon at this point in time.

"Sorry Cremath. I have needs." Even if her own dragon didn't want the feel the pull, Inanna couldn't help it. She needed to take this flightlust out on someone, and flight losers were always worth their while.

Spoiler for Hidden:
@Kyya Let me know if this is okay. You can powerplay if you have any ideas of where they want to go.

It was an odd line to tread, trying to ignore the flight lust just long enough to pull Fyenoruth away from the chase without disheartening the bronze dragon from trying in future flights. It was no secret that his partner hoped to be placed in a higher position than just another wingrider, and queen flights were about the quickest ways to achieve that, even if only until she flies again.

Unfortunately, K’zaya himself had no desire at all to catch the queen and bed her rider, so while he found himself completely immersed inside Fyenoruth’s head, as the strain of the flight started to wear on the dragon, he found he was getting steadily closer to the exit of Eimarra’s weyr.  As he dragged his way out of the room, fighting hard not to be drawn completely into Fyenoruth’s head, he found himself embraced quickly by a slight woman who must have been waiting for just such an appearance.

His arms immediately went to embrace the woman, lips trapped by hers as he struggled to define himself. They hadn’t caught the queen, and there was an ecstasy there at that knowledge. He pulled himself from the surprisingly tight grip long enough to catch sight of her face. Taking in the dark eyes and light smattering of freckles even as he wracked his brain for her name.

It came to him surprisingly quickly considering every fibre of his being was distracted elsewhere, and he reached out to Fyenoruth, an easy enough task all things considered. //Find Cremath. I have Inanna.// he practically grunted as he pressed the woman closer to him, not in the least bit surprised as he felt his bronze pull out of the gold flight, though whether because it had ended or she had been caught he didn’t know.

“Your… Weyr…?” He whispered between breaths, fighting the urge to just press her up against the stone wall and take her where they stood. He wasn’t the first to have left the junior weyrwoman’s weyr and he would not be the last, and while almost every action seemed excusable while under the throws of flight-lust, he did not want to be that guy. The very least he could do was find a bed to throw her onto.

It was a relatively short trip to the woman’s weyr, and the slight clarity to his thoughts gave him the chance to take in the scenery as it were.

Fyenoruth, despite the lust stabbing through their bond, had made his way as close to the edge of the ledge as he could, eyes whirling sadly as he looked at the green dragon with such a forlorn expression it was easy to tell he had been unable to cajole the other dragon into a rebound-romp. He was curled up on himself, head resting on his tail and very clearly feeling underappreciated.

He didn’t have long to linger on the two dragons as his eyes fell onto the cot, flinging back the bed furs before doing his best “Suave dragonrider” impression – a feat that started with an attempt to lift Inanna off the ground and fall with her as he placed her delicately onto the bed, but ended with him just falling onto the bed with Inanna being dragged along with him. He wasn’t gentle – who was in the middle of a flight? - as he rolled on top of her and pinned her down, removing her clothing in rough motions. He barely got the laces to his breaches untied before he was thrusting inside her, the euphoria almost stifling as he managed the first step in sating his flight lust.

They get to do it. Fyenoruth grumbled, the hope in his voice as he eyed off the green on her ledge unmistakable.

It was the last thing K’zaya heard, however, as he gave all his attention to the woman beneath him and the need that permeated through to his very soul.

Spoiler for ooc:
There you go. Have fun. It’s a fade to black-ish thing so hope it’s alright. Fyenoruth wouldn’t have pushed very hard trying to get Cremath to mate with him so however you wanna play that is up to you. He’ll be up and perky once the flight lust has faded, and won’t resent her at all for not being willing xD I also hope the powerplay was OK >.>; I can change whatever if need be.

Inanna was pleased when it didn't take too long to find a suitable man for the night. She didn't even both to take a look at his face, just latched onto him not wanting to let go of him in fear that for some reason, he might be pulled away from her and she wouldn't be able to get rid of all this lust.

She almost growled in annoyance at the idea of having to walk back to her Weyr, she wanted him now. Not later. But she knew it was close, and so, with a fist clenched in the front of his riding leathers, she dragged him towards her Weyr, occasionally pushing him up against a wall to kiss him once again.

His rough handling pleased her. And she wasn't put off by the awkward fall, she didn't have enough brain power to think and process what was happening. Her clothes were gone and it was skin on skin and she was lost, letting the flight lust spiral her away.

Cremath shuffled as close to the edge of her ledge as she could as she watched Fyenoruth wing his way towards her. Why were these bronzes all so big? They took up all her room. And... he wanted her to? He... thought she would? No. Of course not, he hadn't even flown her before, she barely knew the dragon.

You... you... stay on your side of the ledge. The green demanded shakily, although admittedly, the bronze took up more than half of the space.

Fade to Black

Inanna woke later in the day deliciously sore. It seemed she had snagged a catch after all. Turning over to stare at the rider next to her, she was finally able to put a name to a face.

Ah... So how did Fyenoruth take the loss?

He complained. Cremath said simply, happy enough that he had stuck to himself for the rest of the night, not approaching her again after his initial complaint.

You can't blame him. He loses a Queen flight and ends up on a ledge with a beautiful green like yourself. Can't hurt him to try.

Cremath didn't respond.

"G'morning K'zaya."

Fyenoruth had woken a short time before Inanna spoke, eyes whirling impatiently as he eaoted for Cremath to pay attention to him. He rumbled gently, trying to draw attention, though the volume at which he spoke to her was not nearly so subtle. May I move, now? he asked bluntly, making a point not to do any more than resettle his wings while he waited for the green’s approval. He didn’t care to keep the request to himself, the surprisingly pleasant gonging tone to his voice heard by rider and dragon alike.

K’zaya, for his part had rolled over as Inanna stirred, propping himself up using his elbow and grinning at her with all the satisfaction of a firelizard among the wherries. “Mornin’ yourself, Inanna. Didn’t think I’d be lucky enough to run I to you outside of Eimarra’s Weyr mid-flight. Thought you would’ve holed up with one of those pretty beach riders instead.” He teased, though the genuine happiness at having Inanna for a partner post-flight would be clear in his tone. A moment of concern, though, as he searched her face for any sign of injury. Flight lust wasn’t the kindest of situations for your first sexual experience with a new partner, regardless of how badly one was effected by it. “You’re OK?” he added before rolling over tot ake in the sight of his bronze, dwarfing the petit green despite his own narrow build.

“And you, big guy? Who’d you lose to? Worth it to  share a ledge with such a beauty, right?” he was a little giddy, to be honest, as he spoke to the Fyenoruth. Another proverbial bullet dodged, and they’d managed to find themselves a pretty pair indeed. No responsibility, and an altigether pleasant awakening.

I could have. Fyenoruth whined, petulantly, Maelboroth caught Imyth. he continued his complaint, daring a glance back to the green who he was surprised to note was much more appealing in the morning sunlight than the gold he had just lost. He knew it would have upset K’zaya if he had won, and some greens, he knew were less… well. Flighty than others. Despite her refusal to let him have her earlier, Fyenoruth found the loss affected him less with her so closeby.

“Maelboroth? But he’s a-“

BROOOOOWNNN the bronze finished with a noisy groan, the dismay at losing to a smaller colour. The floor practically vibrating with the sound he made.

K’zaya couldn’t have been happier at the news, turning back to Inanna with a devilish grin. “You hear that, Inanna! Brown’s can win a flight! More competition! Less chances to win.” He laughed before throwing himself back on the pillow, hands behind his head and staring at the ceiling with unfiltered delight on his face. “What a wonderful world we live in, right?” he added in case his joy at the news could have been possibly construed as something else.

I suppose so. Cremath responded very primly. She was not going to feel guilty about what did or did not happen the previous night. Just because he couldn't win a gold, doesn't mean that she was just going to let him have what he wanted. A surprisingly stern and stubborn frame of mind for the usually more docile green.

And she supposed he was being polite, if a little petulant. So she stretched out on her side of her ledge, a little more relaxed in his company now, letting her tail fall over the side of the ledge in her relaxed position.

Inanna shrugged, but grinned at K'zaya's misconception. "I not so snobby as to stick to my own wing, I know that there are perfectly handsome riders in other wings as well." She finished with a wink. More honestly, it was because she really just wasn't that picky, the beach riders she was friends with in her wing, didn't want to settle down, which was fine with her, but had made her expand her horizons a long time ago.

"I'm fine." The question was sweet, so the response was laced with content, one of her hands coming up to trace the ginger scruff that lay on his jawline. "Thank you."

Fyenoruth's got a pretty voice. Inanna said, for Cremath's ears alone.

I suppose. If you like that kind of voice.

Cremath did. But she wasn't going to admit that.

Inanna's mouth formed a round o of surprise at Fyenoruth's news, that quickly turned into a grin at K'zaya's exuberant reaction.

"A strong brown, I'm sure. Are you really that against Queen flights?" She asked curiously, sitting up and pulling the furs with her, as she balanced herself on one elbow to look at him. It was an interesting take to be sure, K'zaya of the impression that now that one brown had caught one queen, that the odds had moved against him in winning a queen flight.

Cremath seemed to lose a bit of the fire that she had found at that news. If all the browns have their sights set on Queens now too. No one will want to chase me. This. Again. Was to Inanna only, however

Inanna looked from K'zaya to Cremath at those words, holding up a finger to stay any response to her previous question. She needed to sort out Cremath. Pulling off the top layer of furs and wrapping it around her, she walked out onto the ledge, and placed a hand on her dragon's snout, who was pointedly trying to avoid eye contact with her.

This she said aloud. "Now don't you be ridiculous. You're beautiful and strong. And just as many dragons are going to chase you as they did before. And I think you've won yourself another chaser here in Fyenoruth." Inanna kissed her dragon on the snout and felt the greens body relax into the stone of the ledge.

I love you.

I know.

Taking a deep breath, she walked back into her Weyr and slid into bed next to K'zaya, more awkward than it had been when they first awoke. "Sorry..."

Fyenoruth made a show of standing up and stretching himself, the dragon equivalent of a yawning groan as he (supposedly) realigned all his joints because it was so hard to have had to stay so far to the side of the weyrledge. That is very much better, Cremath, your generosity is greatly appreciated. He said, flopping himself down and stretching out on the weyrledge to take up more room than absolutely necessary, mimicking the green dragon's pose. His tail dangling off the edge in much the same way, though his eyes whirled softly as he swung it ever so slightly so every so often it brushed against hers. If he could, the dragon would be smirking each and everytime it happened. Beyond that, however, he did respect her boundaries and remained mostly out of Cremath's face.

Mostly.

She adores me, K'zaya. She just doesn't know it yet. He whispered to his bonded, causing K'zaya grin, the touch of Inanna's hand on her face making it all the more goofier. He was glad he hadn't performed poorly, knowing that flight lust only gave you a bit of leeway in the bedfurs. He found himself silently thanking the first egg that it was Inanna who met him outside Eimerra's weyr, even moreso with Fyenoruth's pleasant feelings buzzing through the bond. He may not have sated his post flight lust, but he was quite pleased with the green he shared the ledge with, a feeling amplified by K'zaya's contentedness with her bonded.

Lucky. Lucky. Lucky.

He went to respond to her question when she shushed him, and he found himself rolling over to watch her walk away with a layer of furs wrapped around her. He mirth disappeared as he noticed the green's avoidance of Inanna. //Is she OK?// he queried the bronze, wondering if perhaps something had happened between them. The bronze only shrugged mentally, though he shifted so he was a little bit closer to the green. Unfortunately Fyenoruth's empathy wasn't exactly high, so apart from knowing she was a little upset, he hadn't a clue as to why.

When Inanna spoke, however, both rider and dragon lifted their heads, K'zaya nodding his head enthusiastically while Fyenoruth's posture got slightly more possessive. You are rising soon? he asked, resuming with his swinging tail though with a little more purpose than before. I would be honoured to give chase. You are much more suited to a bronze. Maybe with a dark hide. A little lighter speckling under his belly than with a plain old brown or blue. he rumbled for all to hear, even as K'zaya spoke up himself.

"Fyenoruth only chases after the prettiest of dragons." he added, trying to further reassure the green. He wasn't always the most perceptive of people, but he tried. And there was clearly a few self esteem issues with Inanna's bonded.

When she slipped back under the bedcovers K'zaya shrugged nonchalantly. "Dragon's come first." He brushed aside her concern. He wouldn't condemn her from addressing her bonded's needs. It was important.

He did pull himself upright in the bed, not quite willing to leave the bedfurs just yet. They were going to have an entire day off, afterall. Queen flights were wonderful for a drill-free day. So long as she wasn't kicking him out, he was content. "In any case, I don't really wanna deal with all that... pressure. Fyenoruth is more than capable of winning a queen's flight... but that ties me up for a whole turn. And then I'm not even guaranteed to win again. That's a long time to get to know someone just to have to step away because another dragon wins her next one." He shrugged again. There were many reasons that he didn't want to catch a queen dragon, and it was a genuine relief that a brown had won over Fyenoruth this round.

That's... Cremath hesitated, perhaps wondering how she was going to approach Fyenoruth's comment. That's very kind of you, Fyenoruth. She finished sincerely. Surprisingly enough, she believed him. Now, Cremath wasn't the most ordinary green, self esteem issues didn't really belong in dragons minds, but it did in Cremaths. Inanna had learnt to deal with it, be able to resolve her dragon's issue and move on before anyone could wallow in the confusing emotion for so long. But it seemed Fyenoruth too was... helping.

Cremath actually seemed to perk up a little more at the bronzes words and when his tail swung far enough to brush up against hers, she twined her own around his. She did turn her head away to avoid looking at him. But it was a start none the less. There was something about the bronze that made Cremath want to come out of her shell. Perhaps it was the optimism that oozed from him, but it seemed like it was brushing off on her just a little bit.

Now Inanna knew that Cremath was fine, she turned back to K'zaya with a smile, her head cocking to the side to listen to him as he answered her previous question. "I can understand that. A turn is a long time to get to know someone. Live with them. That sort of thing." She waved a hand vaguely in the air.

"So." She said, sitting herself upright next to him as well, resting her head on his shoulder and cuddling up against his warmth, Inanna hoped that he wouldn't move away from her, but she would respect the move if he did. "I know of you, but I don't know you. Tell me about yourself K'zaya." She said with a encouraging smile from her position on his shoulder.

Smug pleasure trickled through Fyenoruth's link with K'zaya as Cremath's tail twined around hers, an odd little wiggle as he shifted ever so slightly closer to the green. He truly did adore a pretty green, and knowing she would be flying soon made her all the more desirable. Truth be told his feelings towards the green were a might bit stronger than what he had previously experienced, drawn, perhaps as much to her insecurities as her appearance. He did not understand why she would think other dragons would not chase, though the longer he lay there, enjoying the warmth of the morning sun, the more he hoped she was right. He was so far enjoying her company, and K'zaya and her bonded also seemed to get along. Having less competition from the smaller dragons would give him better odds at catching Cremath when she flew.

K'zaya was sharing his dragon's pleasure as the beachrider snuggled into him, unable to wipe the goofy grin from his face as he brought an arm around her to make sure she stayed put. Post-flight interactions weren't always the greatest things, in his opinion. There could often be tension or awkwardness depending on who you ended up waking up with, but he was quite pleased that he'd ended up with Inanna. She was one of the few Beach Wing Riders that he tried very hard to talk to when they were assigned to the same tasks, and he'd worked hard to commit her face, name, and her dragon to memory.

He frowned a little as she asked to know more about him, though it was a fleeting thing, his smile returning between on eheartbeat and the next. "I'm glad you asked, Inanna." he laughed as he gatherered his thoughts. "There's plenty about me you should know. Like. My name's K'zaya. I'm ruggedly handsome, delightfully charming and ride a Bronze Dragon. So that makes me the elite of the elite, yeah?" He grinned as he looked at her, waggling his eyebrows suggestively. He was teasing, of course, and he waved away any possible response with a dismissive noise.

"Nah. Me and Fyenoruth only just graduated at turns end, you know. So we're mostly new to the game. Imyth was his third gold flight, so even if I hadn't wanted us to lose, he would've ended up outflown by the older dragons." He paused, lowering his voice conspiratorialy. "We've managed a few greens in the past few months... But they were all... Well. Flighty." He sighed allowing himself a moment to muse over their past wins before returning his attention to the woman beside him.

"Anyway, Weyr born and bred. Started in the High Reaches Creche, Moved to Fort Weyr when I was tiny, got searched, did a bunch of hatchings. Impressed in Imyth's clutch the first turn on the island. Been a good round, if I'm honest with ya." He rattled off the brief history of his life with as much enthusiasm as he'd spoken about everything else. No hint of the horrors that may have befallen him during the catastrophe in his voice.

Fyenoruth rumbled in annoyance, lifting his head to glare at the two humans in the bedfurs. You didn't have to tell them how old I am... That is not something they need to know. Nor do they require information about who I have, and haven't caught in the past. He let Inanna in on the first part of his conversation, inviting Cremath in for his next words. Cremath's flight is all that's important, now. He glanced at the green then, shuffling a teeny bit closer in the hopes that his rider's misguided conversation hadn't alienated her from him, eager to impress the smaller dragon.

Spoiler for OOC:
Fuckit. I think this post is done. Yell out if there's a blatantly obvious hole in it.[/ooc]

"The elite of the elite?" She snorted amusedly. "You bronzeriders." There wasn't any heat in her voice, just affection. Inanna knew he was joking, especially considering his dismissive snort when she responded, they got along well enough when they talked in the past. He was cute, funny, this was just his sense of humour and she liked it.

"Fye, your age doesn't show at all, I don't think of you as a sevenday younger than 5 turns." Inanna said mock seriously to the bronze. It didn't matter to her how old they were, K'zaya and Fyenoruth seemed happy in Prairie, sure, it was where most newly graduated Weyrlings were put, but he also just seemed to suit it there. Besides, there were all one and the same once they graduated.

Cremath too, did not mind one bit that he was young. He was big, and kind, and seemed to like her, so when he scootched a little closer on the ledge, she didn't move away from him, and thrummed happily in response to his comment.

"Most green riders are like that, since some of us don't get to pick and choose, we can't always end up with someone we like in our Weyr when we wake up." She shrugged. "And flighty isn't a bad thing, it's just not what I want, and from the sounds of it, not what you want either?"

"What about family? I've got my rider mother and brother as you know, and a crafter sister, but do you know your parents? I know a lot of stuff when down during the move over here, so heaps of riders don't know their parents."

K'zaya stretched with a grin at Inanna's playful exasperation. "Yep. Us bronzeriders." He purred before settling back down in the bedfurs to listen to what else she had to say. He quite liked this. Usually flight lust was followed by some interaction, but not often for long, and despite having a full day off during gold flights, K'zaya often found himself enjoying the break alone. Having Inanna beside him this morning was a more than welcome change.

Fyenoruth practically purred at the compliment, his entire mental state one of fuzzy happiness. Already he had forgotten that Cremath had scorned him after the gold's flight, and while he gave a rather wordy thanks to Inanna, his attention was soon on the green beside him and the welcome warmth of the morning sun on the weyrledge.

K'zaya, buzzing from the serenity of pleasant company shrugged non noncommittally before nodding his head with a resigned sigh. If Fyenoruth was larger, or stood more of a chance, he may have risked the weight of leadership that came with catching a gold. But even then it would only be until someone younger or stronger came along. B'ron was a perfect example of a long-term weyrmate being displaced by a younger rider and dragon pair.

He frowned at the family question, though it was not anger but temporary confusion as he tried to find anchor points in his past to answer her. "I was a crechling before becoming a candidate..." He said softly, brow still creased in thought. It was hard for him to draw up specifics, though he really was trying. "My father is a bronze rider," a shooing gesture with his hand, "somewhere. And my mother." This one was easy. He grinned sheepishly as he watched Inanna's face, wanting to see how she reacted.

"Well. She doesn't know me, but it's Yinaya of Rantasyth." His face was much more relaxed as he spoke of his mother, the grin growing wider as he added. "She actually brought me here, to Southern Winds. I was one of her passengers."

"What?!" She shoot up in the bed, gaping openly at him. "You haven't told your mother that... that you exist?" Inanna ran the name through her head Yinaya... Yinaya... "She's in the same sharding wing as you."

Wapping him lightly on the shoulder, she shook her head at him. "How? Why?"

Inanna couldn't imagine seeing her mother day after day and not telling her who she was. Whilst she didn't need her mother in her life anymore, she liked to know that there was someone out there for her, if she ever needed her.

Even her siblings, she went and visited them everyday, she needed them. Whilst she didn't necessarily think that K'zaya needed to... know his mother if he didn't want to, it just wasn't something that she could ever understand.

"I mean, you do you, I just... I'm surprised that you haven't told her by now?"

"Woah- hey, easy. Easy!" K'zaya was laughing as he tried to fend off Innana's outburst, finding no offense at her accusation but scooting over slightly all the same, cheeks burning with sheepish embarassment. He had expected a reprimand, though really hadn't anticipated outing that particular tidbit so early in their getting to know eachother.

He rubbed the spot she had hit him, more to tease then because it had actually hurt. He'd been in enough fights to have a pain tolerance to well aimed punches, and a light whallop was anything but. He was aware enough to understand that Innana's query wasn't entirely teasing though, and his ears burned knowing she knew just exactly who his mother was.

He shrugged helplessly when she gave him the chance to speak, a spark of fear in his eyes as he reiterated the reason he'd spent so much of his life avoiding that conversation.

"She's done so much to help in our survival... I don't wanna just. Pop up one day. I mean. What do you say? 'Yo Yinaya. I'm one of yours'? I'd like to be able to surprise her. Achieve something that she can be proud of, you know." Another shrug, defensive , not overly comfortable with the topic but wanting to be as honest as possible with Inanna. He liked her company. Just because she asked the important questions didn't mean he was going to up and leave... He'd just never had someone so... invested in his thought processes at all.

"I'm gonna tell her soon, I think. I think she'll wanna know, you know. And I owe her... well... everything. So... " he stopped a moment, looking over at the happy dragon whose mind he shared. "What craft would you have picked if Cremath hadn't found you?" A change of subject. He wasn't dismissing the topic of his 0arentage, though the question was well off the pain point. He didn't tend to be one to jabber on about himself and he was feeling a little negligent. He was sharing a bed with a lovely bewch greenrider, and all he seemed to chat about was himself.  It didn't matter that Inanna was the one asking questions. K’zaya could be doing more to find out about her too.

Spoiler for ooc:
Phone post. Good luck >_> hope it's alright. I was gonna bring up the eggs but K’zaya thought craft possibilities would make better chitchat.

Inanna cuddled back into him at his explanation. It was a good one. Whilst she still didn't know whether she would have made the same decision, it did sort of make sense. Inanna knew what it felt like to feel like you owed people something, to feel like you wanted to do well by them.

"You're a good rider K'zaya. I think she'd be very proud of who you've become. So whenever you do tell her, I think she'll be very happy to know." She said softly, allowing him to change the subject after that, pleased that he had shared that with her, and not wanting to push him further than he wanted.

"I wanted to be the Headwoman once." Inanna admitted grinning. "I was never much into the crafts, I'm a Weyr girl born and raised. But the headwoman at Fort when I was younger. She was a wher of a woman, hating dragonriders and everything about them." She shrugged. "And so I had it in my mind, that if I didn't impress, then maybe I could take over from her. They all seemed to like me there, I knew how everything worked." Waving a hand dismissively she showed how little that mattered to her anymore. "But that's all in the past, I have Cremath now and I've never looked back."

Rolling over, she raised her long arms over her head in a stretch, pointing her toes as she did so to give every muscle a good move around. When she opened her eyes again, they went wide. "Oh!" Jumping lightly out of the bed, she raced over to the pot by her hearth, shoving a hand into the sand to check the temperature. "Sorry," she said, glancing over her naked shoulder at K'zaya as she knelt before the hearth. "I needed to make sure the sands were still warm." Her eyes widened as she remembered the day she had received her egg from K'eeda and remembered handing K'zaya's own over to him. "How is your egg going?"

“Headwoman? Really? They’re so… Cranky all the time!” K’zaya laughed, the image of Inanna threatening him with a ladle for getting into the bubbly pies flashing through his mind. It wasn’t the most truthful of statements, since the Headwoman he had known had actually been lovely people… Until you tried to steal a few treats for the revelries of Room Seven- For the fourth time that month.

He didn’t get much of a chance to dwell on what he imagined Headwoman Inanna would look like, finding himself once again watching her escape the bedfurs to attend to another part of the weyr. As with before, she remained mostly covered, though K’zaya did not mind the modesty. Flights didn’t dictate a riders preference at all, and gold flights in particular left everyone desperate for some relief. They’d rarely had cause to talk outside of business – so to speak, and he was loving the opportunity to get to know – however briefly – Cremath’s rider. Not to mention Fyenoruth’s happy buzzing in his head indicated he’d rather stay as long as possible.

K’zaya’s eyes widened in mimicry of Inanna’s as she questioned him about his own egg, blanching at the question because he had, until that moment, forgotten about the tiny egg that he’d placed in an almost identical pot near the hearth of his own weyr.

The little Bronze is doing fine. The hearth was warm before Imyth rose and will be safe for a few hours yet. Is yours perhaps a little queen my bronze can chase? Fyenoruth had lifted his head off the floor as he spoke, huffing softly in K’zaya’s direction as if annoyed that his rider couldn’t remember something as important as their future companion.  He did swing his head to glance at the green dragon beside him, his eyes whirling anxiously for a moment before adding A green would be lovely, too. Bronze and green go very well together. He kept his gaze somewhat on Cremath, the slight concern at possibly offending his current ledge mate flaring up along the bond.

Calm yourself big fella. She’s too small to throw you out herself. K’zaya reassured his partner, though both of them were fully aware that should she ask it of them, they would not remain. “Has there been much movement for yours? I imagine they’ll hatch the same day, and so far ours is harder, but no signs of life.” He frowned at that, having no clue about firelizard egg care despite how common the little beasty’s were.

“Fyenoruth reminds me to keep an eye on it. Since it’s not doing much, I do tend to forget to check the temperature all the time. Fyenoruth is better at the timing than I am.” He shrugged self depreciatively. It was the way he was wired, and Fyenoruth was perfectly suited to remember what he did not. Anything Fyenoruth didn’t remember wasn’t important enough for him to stress over. Despite his words, K’zaya did worry that he hadn’t done enough for the egg, and finding out just how far along Inanna thought hers was might help him figure out if he’d stuffed up the care for his.

“You’ve got a firelizard already, yes?”

"Well then, I'm pleased to tell you that I would have been the first non-cranky Headwoman." She retorted with a laugh.

Pleased that the sands were sufficiently warm, she returned to the side of the bed to pull on some clothes, having already gotten up and about, knowing that there would be no chance now of going back to sleep, despite how nice her bedmate looked.

Cremath decided not to respond. She couldn't deny him the typical bronze tendency to prefer Golds to Greens. Did it make her a little self-conscious? Yes. But was that any different from her normal mindset? No. She simply didn't say anything. Cremath would let him stay on her ledge, besides, she felt the pangs of hunger from her rider, and knew they wouldn't be staying for long now. She could tolerate the Gold-loving-bronze until then.

"No movement yet." Inanna responded as she pulled a long shirt on, "From what K'eeda said, they're still about a month out from hatching. We got them the morning Goldie clutched them." She waved a hand nonchalantly in the air whilst she searched for her pants. "Hard is good, and no movement is fine."

"Aha!" She said, finding her pants thrown over her work table, before she started to search for her undergarments. Surely they'd be in the same approximate area, at least? "Ah yes. I do." She cocked her head to the side as she searched for his presence in her mind. "He's... sleeping right now. Thank Faranth for that." Turning her eyes to the ceiling, she looked on the tops of doorframes, on top of her dresser, before spotting him curled up on the far side of the room on a little ledge high up. "There." She pointed out his tiny body.
