Guest Info Plot & Events

Current Month
4.2590 A.R.
9th Interval

Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every 4 or 5 OOC days. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Flits here, as well as whers.  There are Candidate events and classes and Crafter plots. A little bit of something for everyone.

See previous events here!

A matter of Inconvenience [08.07.2590 / 12PM] EVENT
« on: June 15, 2017, 07:13:56 AM »
Nalise had just sat down with her meal she knew that Hiakimth had been moody, proody, and glowing brighter. Which made Nalise moody and proody lately as had she and that was not a normal thing for her. The girl did not want to eat much today as she was not hungry. She sipped on the soup that she had in front of her dipping the bread in it.

That was when she felt it and jumped to her feet knocking the soup and her drink to the floor she yelled out loud though she did not realize she had done that. “HIAKIMTH BLOOD THE KILL DON’T EAT IT.” With that she ran out of the room at full speed and towards her weyr on bare. But I want to eat it. ~If you do they will catch you faster~ Hiakimth started to blood the kill spitting out the meat she had almost swallowed. No one catches me. No one.

Hiakimth blooded three more heard beasts before she took to the air. She was not going to let anyone catch her. She flew into the clouds and almost went over the Jungle as she was in the clouds but did a cartwheel as she flew so she was back over the weyr and then over the Beach and the ocean. She loved the look of the water better than the trees anyway. Come and get me if you can. She teased the males.

Nalise on the other hand had just made it to her weyr her mind on her dragon at all times as eyes fixed on the wall of her Weyr and nothing else. She remembered her training and keeps her mind locked with her dragon and the fact they were going to out run the males that chased them. If she lost her lock with her dragon she would lose her dragon.

Spoiler for OOC:
The OOC thread can be found here.

Dragons rising for Flights during lunch wasn’t unheard of, but it usually happened with much less fanfare than this one. Even seated a few tables away as she was, with most of the rest of her wing, Finna couldn’t help but overhear the younger woman’s shout before she went running out of the Weyr Hall. Her quick exit had upset her food and drink too, leaving the other weyrlings that had been seated with her scrambling to avoid hot soup and clean up the mess she’d inadvertently made.

Ah, to be young.

//Were we ever that scattered when we were weyrlings?//

Why are you asking me? You’re the one who would remember. But no, I don’t think so. Kimisuth was likewise rather amused, though he’d perked up on the lower ledge where he’d been sunning himself while his rider was eating. He was ever a Blue interested in chasing pretty Greens; and though he hadn’t caught Hiakimth during her maiden Flight, that wasn’t about to dissuade him now. Even if she did seem young, reckless, and untempered.

She killed four herdbeasts…

//Four? Damn. Wouldn’t be surprised if she gets the Weyrlingmasters on her ass for that.// Some Greens didn’t even bother blooding one anymore, with as scarce as resources were in the weyr. But no Beastcrafter was probably going to argue with a proddy dragon in the midst of her making her kills. Nevertheless, four was an especially excessive number.

Probably.

//You want to chase?// There was no reason not to, really, if that’s what her Blue wanted, so Finna quickly bolted down the rest of the food on her plate even as she heard her dragon’s response. Of course.

//Go ahead, then. If she’s a weyrling, she’ll have a ground weyr.// No reason for Kimisuth to wait for her, then. Finna extracted herself from the table with a grin to some of her Wingmates. Others were already rising as well, their dragons no doubt having taken notice just as Kimisuth had. //Looks like we’ll have a little competition.// And there usually was, for weyrling flights. With such young and inexperienced Greens, those on lower colors were more likely to win even if they were a force catch. Not to mention they tended to last for less time, which meant that squeezing in an encounter before having to get back to their Wing duties was entirely possible.

As such, Finnmaghaine followed the small train of riders toward the ground weyr where the girl had fled. Like the others, she’d enter it from the outside rather than traipsing through the Weyrling Barracks.

Her Blue, for his part, quickly took to the sky after Hiakimth. Nice day for a Flight, he crooned to her—and it was. With a light wind blowing around the Bowl, the air was neither still nor as hot as it could have been earlier in the summer.

Lunch was a chance to relax. Time to sip some water, munch on some hard bread, and mess about. At least, that’s how C’ace saw it. As he was presently claiming Inanna’s lap, there was absolutely no reason he wasn’t going to try and convince her that there was a lovely nook in the hall that they could dart off to mid lunch. Ya know, because some fun in the middle of the day was one way to ensure a lovely day.

Especially with Inanna.

Reesskith had opted to take a nap on the ledge next to Kimisuth – his buddy Blue. He was sprawled on his back, legs up in the air, so he missed the little Green taking wing. At least, initially. Lazily, Reesskith rolled onto his belly and likewise perked up. A new one taking wing, even! His interest did wane a little when she kept blooding kills, but his wings still fanned out. C’ace! Look! Not that his Rider could, but that was hardly the point.

C’ace made a face and sweetly kissed Inanna just below her ear. “I’m being called away by my dragon. Rain check on the lunch snack, hm?” he murmured before sliding off of her lap. He hated leaving her like that, but… well, C’ace was never one to deny his dragon. Anyone that knew him would know that. So, instead, he skipped a little to link arms with Finnmaghaine.

“Heya, dearheart. Going to chase too?” Silly question that he asked with an equally silly grin, made all the more so by his blue hair. He’d need to dye it again.

Reesskith let out a trumpeting roar before he took to the sky after Kimisuth, as eager to be after the Blue as he was after the Green. After all, racing his buddy Blue would be just as fun as winning. Well, ok, winning would be more fun. But playing in the air was still all in good fun. Fly far and fly fast, pretty young thing, he called to her.

“Streuth, mate. Tell me that yobbo ain’t one of ours.” Wa’by, never one to care whether he spoke to Vicith mentally or not cursed as the young weyrling shouted about blooding beasts instead of eating them, making a mess of a perfectly good meal in her haste to leave the weyrhall.

She belongs to C’ren’s mob, fortunately for us… A disapproving note from the blue as he adjusted himself on their weyrledge, eyes whirling curiously as he watched the young green leap from beast to beast. She’s a little erratic, I’m afraid. Three beasts so far and going for a fourth. I’ll catch her. She needs to bring it in a bit.

“Could have at least waited ‘til tucker was done and dusted.” He grumbled in response, shoveling another chunk of bread his mouth before standing up and moving to leave the table, dusting his hands on his pants before moving. //Go on then, Red. Her thingamajig’s only a couple of clicks away, I’ll be right.// He added, noticing two other blueriders ahead and jogging on up to them. Might as well make it a party, right?

“Heading my way boys?” He asked, injecting himself between them with all the subtlety of a wher on the piss.

“Woop. Sorry Sheila,” he corrected as he realised it was Finnmaghaine walking arm in arm with C’ace. “nothin’ like a lunchtime root to make the day go faster, eh?” He continued without missing a beat, sidling off to the side so he and C’ace were flanking Finn instead, looping his arm around her other, practically skipping as they continued the relatively short romp.

“Bit of a shonky start, I reckon. Vicky says It’s gonna be a short one. Betcha a middy at dinner we’ll be done before ‘Sinbad’s got his greens ready for the arvo hunt.” His tone was light and teasing, the faint scold for the dragon’s wasteful start barely noticeable beneath the promise of sex and booze. Green flights were definitely not uncommon, but the chance to participate in one always lofted his spirits, and this one promised that lunch would have barely finished before they had cleaned themselves up, win or lose.

“Vicky” meanwhile, had waited only for the four firelizards in Wa’by’s fair to rock up before diving from their weyr, his wings snapping open as he angled himself for a glide that would have him rocking up into the air in a lovely, sweeping maneuver. He was not far behind Reesskith to follow Hiakimth, beating his wings with all the strength of nigh on years flying straight over the rest of the planet. He doubted this would be a test of endurance, that was something that the larger, and more experienced greens offered, but that didn’t mean brute strength couldn’t persevere over the agility of the smaller suitors.

Give us a challenge worthy of your beauty. He crooned, otherwise silent as he dipped through the clouds as close as he dared so soon after her challenge.

R’sin was sitting contentedly with the rest of Jungle Wing as always for lunch. The din and cacophony of the Hall masked the initial yell from Nalise. Jungle didn’t sit near to the Candidates or Weyrlings, a very purposeful decision. It wasn’t until R’sin, in the habit of always watching the crowds more closely since the riot, saw her running from the Hall and heard Dekkath that he figured out what was going on.

Hiakimth rises!

R’sin could feel the eagerness in his bronze, the need to chase whenever there was a dragon in the sky. It was simply nature. And competitiveness. The bronze flared his wings from the ledge of R’sin’s weyr as Hiakimith finished blooding her kills. She left a trail of carcasses in her wake.

//Hiakimth?// The name of the dragon didn’t immediately register to him. Shards, he had an entire Wing of dragons to concern himself with, he didn’t care to memorize the dragons for every other rider too. But soon enough the lightbulb went on and R’sin stood quickly. A simple nod to one of the twins was a wordless gesture handing over command in his absence. He briefly stopped to kiss the top of Cassi’s head as he left. “I’ll see you later.”

The Jungle Wingleader strode purposefully towards the Weyrbowl. //Sorry Dek, you can’t fly this one.// There was a lot of leniency when it came to bed partners in the Weyr for this very reason but R’sin wasn’t going to explain that it his brother if Dekkath cause Nalise’s dragon. Dekkath shifted, agitation palpable but this was hardly the first or last flight R’sin would keep him from.

He could have ignored it and finished his lunch but Nalise was family and this was her first flight. When he got to the Weyrbowl he found a ledge to watch from, arms crossed over his chest. He frowned at the sight of the four herdbeasts. Well, at least the Weyr would get a small reprieve from fish. It was easier to keep his mind firmly on Dekkath from here too, outside the noise and bustle of the Weyr Hall. //Stay with Tesayonth// He ordered, knowing that focusing the big bronze’s attention on his favored green would keep his mind off the young green in the sky.

There is a green in the sky.

The bronze’s voice was curious and almost lazy as if he wasn’t sure it was worth the effort to leave his ledge. After all Hiakimth was no gold. And she was practically still a Weyrling though she rose now. Y’vis smirked, amused at his dragon’s commented observation. He stood, a beat behind his Wingleader but chose not to address anyone as he too exited the Weyr Hall.

//Yes. And what are you going to do about it?// Y’vis wondered if it was simply the fact that it was a young green that Xnyeth seemed only mildly interested or if it was age showing through.

Y’vis limped toward the bowl, picking up his pace once his leg had unstiffened from sitting. The bronze hadn’t answered him but Xnyeth being in the bowl by the time Y’vis got there was answer enough. The dragon deposited his rider at Nalise’s weyr, saving him the walk to the ground weyr, and took off into the sky in pursuit. Xnyeth bellowed his challenge to the sky of opponents, mostly blues so far. Too bad, this green would be his and his alone. And like his dragon’s egocentric mindset, Y’vis paid no heed to the other riders who were already in Nalise’s weyr, jovial and buddy-buddy. That was blue riders for you.

Hiakimth did not look back as she zoomed though the skies. She flies into the clouds and over the ocean diving towards the water. Yes I am lovely come and catch me if you can. Maybe if you don't swim first. She got to where she was 15 stories above the water before turning and heading back up to the sky no she was not scared to do risky maneuvers like that. She was back in the sky and flying high into the clouds she started to hide in the clouds and she looked to see what the males did as she moved through the clouds.

Nalise keep her mind locked on her dragon though she was upset about the beast Hia should not have blooded so many but she would take care of that later. She did not notice when the riders of the males made it to her weyr she was to locked on her dragon. She was hot and wanted out of her clothing but that would wait. ~NOT SO CLOSE TO THE WATER. BACK IN THE SKY~ she said that to her dragon as she got close to the water. She maybe connected to her Dragon but she was also getting upset with her. This was not going good for a flight but she was keeping her mind locked with the Dragon to not lose her.

Hiakimth slowed only slightly as she did her flying in the sky this was getting fun for her she would fly for ages and make them chase her for as long as she could.

“Of course, darling.” Finna didn’t make any effort to temper her likewise wide grin when C’ace all but bounced up and linked his arm with hers. Though most of Kimi’s attention was focused on little Hiakimth, his rider did peripherally catch sight of Reesskith winging after both of them. So it seemed Kimisuth’s previously relaxed companion was going to give chase too—not that it was unusual, at all. Much like Finna with her own Blue, C’ace didn’t make much habit of denying his dragon the chance to fly when it came. “Wanna bet on whether or not our Blues get distracted chasing one another?” Both were playful, after all, and tag was one of their favorite games.

It was a bit surprising to feel another body practically pop up between them, but Finna just laughed when she realized who it was. And to show she hadn’t taken offense to his mistake, she waved her free hand dismissively just a second before Wa’by claimed it. “No worries. Reckon it’s a compliment you think I’m that handsome, hm?” Grinning again, she winked at the other Blue rider.

What he was saying was a bit hard to decipher sometimes, but Finna liked hearing him talk. It was always exciting, half a game in and of itself to figure out what his shortened words meant and what nickname belonged to who. But Sinbad had to be R’sin from context, which made her cackle. Who else would dare call the serious Jungle Wingleader such a thing? “Nah, I don’t think it’ll be a long one.”

Not that there was anything wrong with that, specifically. A quick Flight—or a quick tumble with another hopeful—would be welcome between a good meal and the continuation of their Wing duties for the day.

Flanked by both men, Finna stepped through the entrance to Nalise’s weyr with the others. And though some might think it odd, she didn’t bother to unlink her arms with theirs. Either would be on hand, then, if Kimisuth didn’t win and one of the others’ didn’t either.

Thrilled as he was to chase her, Kimisuth followed Hiakimth unthinkingly at first when she first dove down toward the water. But he flared his wings nervously even through the rising Flight Lust when he caught sight of the ocean beneath them. Watch out! The Green was already on her climb back into the sky, but he projected the words to Reesskith anyway. With the faint fog, wind, and darting shadows of dragons over the water, it’d be impossible to spot a Snake if one were lurking below.

The last thing they needed was one of them getting snatched out of the air with a paralytic bite.

Reckless little thing. A message accompanied by a breathless mental laugh, relayed to both Finna and Reesskith.

The day's training had been more of the same: wresting drills, blue-green races, wherry tossing, etc. Though Desi would never say that it was dull or easy, the repetitive nature of it all always seemed to bore her after a few sevendays of routine. After the chaos of Kalestath's hatching, the Weyr had resumed a sense of normalcy once more.

'Normalcy?' You mean bronze dragons and their riders staring at their own reflections is a normal thing? Rodeth muttered in droll fashion. Kaladesi stifled a laughter with a snort and looked down the table at which she sat. She could see the twins doing just that; preening in front of the reflective sheen of the bathing pools, complimenting each other on their toned bodies... Desi had to shake her head to get the image out. She shifted her legs, aware of the sensation that the thought caused.

She paused, realizing that the feeling did not come from her, but rather from her bonded. //Rodey?// Thoughts of men didn't normally turn him on. In fact, thoughts about other people did not turn him on period. He was not one for flirty thoughts or possessive feelings either. //What's going on, Big Blue?//

She saw the answer rise from her table at the same time that her dragon responded. Hiakimth bloods her kills! The feeling of desire surged through their link, knocking the wind out of Kaladesi. Rodeth sure loved his greens, though his rider did not recognize the name. She must be a young one, Desi concluded.

The Jungle Blue stood from her seat, just as her Wingleader did and promptly made her way to the trickling train of other riders. Mostly blues, she noticed, a few of which she was familiar with. Try as she might, though, she could not catch up to them before they made it to the girl's weyr. She had short legs after all. Entering into the weyrling barracks with the rest, she finally caught up to them. Wa'by, C'ace, and Finna, the first of which worked with the Weyrlings, and the latter two were Search riders like her, were well known to Desi. She slipped under the arm of the Assistant Weyrlingmaster with a bubbly giggle. The Flight Lust was starting to get to her. With a grinning nod to the others, she turned her mind on her blue, who had already taken to the air in chase.

Rodeth soared after the green, keeping his pace slow and under control. He knew that he could not keep up with the bronzes and browns that were in the air. He just might, however, be able to outlast the other blues, and maybe, just maybe, he could out sprint his larger siblings. Other than the simple pleasantries that is necessary for a Flight, Rodeth kept his words to himself, for fear that his intent could be heard through his tone.

He followed the green as she dove down to the water, though he pulled up before she did, placing himself in a good position to close the gap with the rest of the peloton. He crooned with excitement as he followed the green.

He made a show of seriously considering whether or not he’d take Finnmaghaine up on that bet. While Reesskith loved Flights, he also loved playing. It was hard to say what he liked more, though he would probably naturally inclined to side with the Flights more. Playing was a serious close second. Same for C’ace, though. “Not a fair bet,” C’ace decided with a grin.

If one Blue Rider was a good time, then two was a party. At least to C’ace. Once Wa’by had opted to join them, he actually laughed. Especially because C’ace honestly had no idea what the man said half the time. Maybe more than that. He didn’t even try to guess. Rather, he had to look to Finnmaghaine for any context.

That was as good as it was going to get for C’ace.

“She must be new, hm? Four blooded kills and… “ C’ace actually swayed at the sheer panic that laced through Reesskith when the Blue backwinged away from the water. There were three things about the Blue. He was playful, he loved flights, and he was an absolute coward. When Hiakimth dove toward the water, Reesskith did not need Kimisuth’s warning. Instead, his eyes bled yellow into the purple and he shot higher than he needed. Ruining the rush of Flight lust into his Rider with a hefty dose of fear that nearly knocked C’ace off of his feet.

//Whoa, whoa. Calm down,// C’ace soothed, actually stepping away from Finnmaghaine and Wa’by, rubbing at his temples to try while he tried to bring Reesskith back to the Flight.

Reesskith lost a lot of momentum and traction in the Flight as he floundered in the air, having taken off in his own direction and gained altitude. Pointedly away from the water and the danger there in. It was one thing to work on the beach, surrounded by bigger dragons, and quite another for him to willfully dive toward it. He would not.

Invariably, the allure of Flight Lust won out over the mild panic and he righted himself. Opting to give chase. But some of the playfulness had been lost and he was now seriously behind.

“Fuckoath.” Wa’by agreed to Finna’s jest, joining in with the laughter as they waltzed to the weyrling’s weyr. He was disappointed that no-one took him up on the bet, though couldn’t really blame them. You’d have to be a real Wally to think this flight was going to be anywhere near the maximum flight time for a green. When you went for broke like a bloody hoon there was no way you’d manage long enough to get any but the youngest of dragons off your tail. He relaxed once they were standing still, focusing his attention on the weyrling in the room with them, though the grin on his face was as much about his company than the flightlust filtering through their bond. He waited only so long as to recognise Kaladesi claiming his free arm and allowed himself to lean on the comparatively tiny woman before giving Vicith his head. Just in time to watch the green dive towards the vast expanse of blue that was definitely not the sky.

//Pull up Red! Sheila’s ain’t worth finding out how high the little blighters can jump// He called, the anger at the green’s stupidity lending him some mental clarity despite the flightlust, and lending itself to Vicith himself.

The Blue, irked by the presence of the Bronze’s hadn’t immediately registered the Green’s warning, instead focusing on getting as close to her as possible to try and increase his chances of catching her before they managed to bully their way through. Wa’by’s voice, however, did register, and his flightlust was quickly laced with his rider’s irritation, giving him the presence of mind flick his wings in a way that turned him around without losing too much ground on the green before beating them with every ounce of his strength developed from turns of standing launches and straight flying. He was closer to the water than he wanted to, having finished his turn just under half a dragonlength from where Hiakimth herself had pulled up, and quickly resuming his chase, though Wa’by’s anger still pulsed along their bond, ropeable as he was.

If Nalise wasn't in the shit for the wasted resources he'd get up her himself. Managing to gain control of her green barely two dragonlengths above the ocean's surface had to have some repercussions. If he'd been caught up in the joviality of his mates much longer there was every chance his bonded would have taken a dip... and this far out from land there was no telling whether he'd survive submerging himself. "Fucking grommet... here's hoping the chooks turn into Terry Wherries and tear down the privacy screen to her dunny." He cursed, his hand tense where it rested on Desi's shoulder, the otherone remaining tightly looped with Finna's own to prevent him going forward and giving the girl a what for.

He’d have to have a chat with C'ren when there was time. Find out if there was any way to prevent such idiocy from his own mob. If ANY of his weyrlings pulled that kind of shit when they started rising he'd be getting Kalestath herself to ground the bloody lot of 'em. He needed this sort of shitshow like a bloody third armpit.

Since Vicith seemed unwilling to give up the chase, Wa'by leant himself only a few moments longer to get himself together before reaching out to the blue's mind once more, though a lot of the carefree attitude of earlier had abandoned him with the volatility of this weyrling pair. At least the green was more intent on dipping and diving amongst the clouds this time.

Vicith, affected mainly by the flight lust once more now that Wa’by had vented as much as he needed to at that point, crooned enticingly to Hiakimth as he pressed forward, trying to outfly the Bronzes and Browns who were the more challenging of opponents should the green surprise them and end up flying longer than expected. Wa’by wanted to catch her almost as much as he did as she burst through the cloud layer. Though there was perhaps more to the man's reasoning than lust in that moment. For Vicith though, given as much of his own self as his bonded dsred considering the circumstances, only wabted to envelope the pretty little green with his body, every inch of his being focusing on the glistening green hide that stood out so clearly against the blue sky.

Spoiler for OOC:
Please don’t kill him >_>

I'm hoping this is all pretty logical, though if you think I need to adjust please give me a shout.

Spoiler for Working for where the hell Vicith is:
Guessing a dragonlength to be around 23 metres (Average sized Green dragon), 15 stories around 45m (3m/level) and Vicith being just shy of 30m. 63% of a dragonlength gives Vicith his own length between the water and him if he was directly vertical thus: just under half a dragonlength past Hiakimth (37%) ... It still seems incredibly close to the water in my opinion. 'Cause you know... crocs can do this shimmy thing out of the water to almost their entire length which for the beachsnakes is close to 25 metres... but THEORETICALLY he's still safe.
