Current Month

9th Interval

Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every OOC week. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Whers here, though not for firelizards.  There are Candidate events, Weyrling classes, Holder plots, and Crafthall developments -- a little bit of something for everyone.

See previous events here!

Your Reflection...

Appearance: H'riel has worked very hard to try and be the picture perfect hold-bred young man. He tries to keep his face cleanshaven, dresses practically - though not without the little embellishments he so prides himself in - and walks with a straight back and his head held high. Despite the malnourishment encountered in his early years, H'riel has managed to gain a reasonable amount of height, being only an inch or two above average for your standard holder, and while he'll never be a bulky man, he is at least a solid looking sort.

His time as a weaver apprentice allowed him to develop a little more physically from the emaciated child he had been, and the candidate training combined with the more rigorous weyrling training in the past turn and a half have filled him out nicely, so while he will probably always remain lean, there wasn't too much muscle wastage from his childhood years.

The only other notable mark on him, is the puncture wounds that trace a circle around his right buttocks, over his hip, and the back of his thigh. Impressive, still, despite the turns that have dulled the colour slightly. Since he hadn't finished growing on incurring the injury, it's managed to appear a lot larger than it actually was, though he's rarely inclined to explain how it came about.

He does tend to keep to himself a fair bit, though those he's has managed to trust enough to let beyond the defenses he's set up will find him a fairly pleasant and good natured fellow, if not quite as intelligent as some others his age, and while his language is eloquent enough, prolonged conversations may prove how little he does actually know and understand.

Response to 9th Pass Catastrophe: While not a selfish person per say, H'riel had a lot to occupy him during the pass, and with no family to call his own and no ties that were created out of anything except survivability, he remained fairly ignorant as to what the catastrophe entailed for anyone outside of his social sphere.  He survived it at least. So there's that

Response to dragon color mutations: Considering his first proper introduction to dragons happened around Kalestath's '87 clutch, while the sight of a black dragon made him uneasy, it was only slightly worse than his general opinion on the rest of the populace. So far as S'bok himself is concerned, he has no strong feelings either way... He's relatively new to the ranks of the weyrfolk and is much more concerned with his own weyrling training to be worried about what some bloke on a black dragon has to do with anything.

Who are you...

Likes:

Leatherworking:- Prior to being searched, H'riel was already showing an affinity for all things leather. While the consistent action of simply cutting, moulding and stitching leather is a wonderful release, the intricacies involved in some of the more ornate carving one can do into a piece of leather is what really draws him in.

Lists:- The main benefit to having to sit through lessons where he was taught to read or write has to have been his ability to use this knowledge to create instructions for himself to better apply what he has been taught. It doesn't really matter the medium, H'riel will use anything he can get his hands on to be able to make notes for the latest task he has had to complete. These are usually quite detailed off his own back, but even if someone were to provide him with their own list, they would find his pleasure almost palpable, even despite the guard he often puts up. He may make changes to them, but there is no denying how greatful he is to have someone do at least part of the work for him.

Praise:- There are very few ways for one to see if they are actually succeeding in the world, and praise is one of them. He likes knowing that he has done a good job. Enjoys the moments where his achievements are recognized and noticed. He's not going to go and parade around or press people to offer him a compliment or an acknowledgement of a job well done, but when it's received, it's a surefire way to turn even the most sour of days into one of his better ones.

Dislikes:

Theory:- It's not that he lacks the ability to concentrate, but the whole aspect of learning through what others have to say on the matter rubs him up the long way. So much of his life was spent learning by doing so limiting himself to someone else's opinion seems a waste of space. He is greatful for having been taught how to write, however, but only since figuring out exactly how to apply that particular skill to the real world.

Watch-Wher's:- They were common enough in the hold where he grew up, and again now that he's part of the weyr, but the only time he ever really got to meet one ended quite badly, and he's never really gotten over it. Slightly more confident now that he has a dragon to protect him, there is still a fear of the draconic cousins that he's not been able to disperse, despite the time that has passed since his negative encounter.

His past:- H'riel isn't usually one for lying, however any prying into his past tends to result in a tall tale or two. He tries to stick somewhat to the truth, however the fact he wasn't just your average holder brat embarrasses him to no end, and he'd much rather no-one he knows in the present, has any more than a rudimentary knowledge of his past. Considering he's not the most chatty person on a normal day, an inquiry or observation that can link him to his actual background can cause him to shut down completely.

Strengths:

* DEPENDABLE : H'riel doesn't like to disappoint people, and there's some drive in him that pushes him to make sure he makes those around him happy with his performance. So if you want him to do something, he will make sure it's done... As far as he can comprehend the parameters of the task, in any case.

* ORGANISED : Because H'riel finds it hard to tie different bits of information together, he spends a great deal of time making sure to have appropriate thing sin place to minimize the chance that he will fuck up. This manifests itself in instructional lists, nightly routines in which he gets ready for the day, and reuseable checklists for things that require regular perusal (like riding gear checks).

* PERSISTANT : While he may struggle with certain ideas or instructions, H'riel is perfectly willing to fail consistently until he gets it right. He fixates on certain things, particularly when it's something he wants to master such as weyrling drills, and will quite happily stay up an entire night testing each step and making a note on whatever material he may have lying around. He works hard to do well, and takes a great deal of pride in finally achieving his goal - plus having a step by step list on how to do it again and again until such time as he can manage to commit it to memory good and proper.

* CREATIVE : His creative side rarely gets the opportunity to rear it's pretty little head, though it does, in fact exist. It manifests itself most obviously in the embellishments he adds to his clothes and even to a lesser extent his riding gear (since if he goes too far, he can do more harm than good). It was something that made him a reasonable recruit for the weaverhall, and while there is always a precision to it that almost seems in mimicry of other things, there is no doubt that he enjoys exploring the more artistic side of pern in his downtime.

* DETAILED : If you ask H'riel to give a report on something, prepare for an in depth conversation. In the initial stages, you'll find him asking questions to ensure he has a firm grasp on what needs to be done, sometimes repeating himself as he tries to commit things to memory (in particular when there is nothing to take notes on). He will then set out to complete the task, and on returning, will no doubt have an incredibly well rounded series of observations on the task.

Weaknesses:

* LITERAL : He understands sarcasm and the application of such, however he survived for many years by ensuring he followed instructions exactly as they were given. It is a very difficult thing for him to simply infer meaning from someone's words, as he can't quite make the logical leaps in a timely enough manner not to have ended up causing whoever was giving him the instructions to punish him for either not paying enough attention or not acting on the words immediately after they were spoken. As such, while he may be capable of thinking for himself, as far as instructions from others goes, he will always take the easiest interpretation and go with that. As such, metaphors can be a little bit... Tricky.

* SHORT-SIGHTED : H'riel has goals. Who doesn't? but they're always... Well.. Short term. He has only started considering what wing he wants to join in the past couple of months since Graduation is around the corner, each day is met as it comes and no real thought is given to where it can lead. While he may have enjoyed leatherworking in the weaverhall, until someone had pointed it out, he had never even begun to consider that he could specialize as such. H'riel has difficulty seeing the bigger picture of things, and decisions he makes are rarely based on anything beyond the here and now. It might not matter so much when it's simply whether or not he wants another bubbly pie since the repercussions can be a stomach ache, slight regret at the missed opportunity, or nothing at all, but larger choices where more angles need to be considered can pose long term issues that he doesn't necessarily comprehend until they are closer to fruition.

* MULTITASKING : When he sets his mind to doing something, he has a hard time taking in everything else that's going on around him. H'riel thrives on the structure of drillwork, and works wonderfully within the formations he is assigned to. He does tend to zone out everything else though, and it is perhaps weyrling drills that remains one of the only things he can successfully perform despite the multiple facets involved in applying them. As far as other things go, however, like if he's working on checking his riding gear or figuring out how best to wrap his bonded's wing-joints if he strains them, he will oftentimes block out everything else that goes on around him until something brings him back to the present. It makes him a little more efficient, with regards to the task at hand, but does result often in the skipping of meals or a lack of sleep, among other things.

* SCEPTICAL : H'riel doesn't trust easily, and while he is somewhat open to accepting change when and where it presents itself he will always hesitate ever so slightly if he can't comprehend ones motives for things. For a critical part of his childhood he was treated well when, and only when, he could prove useful, and whenever he was unable to be such, he was punished to varying degrees. Sometimes it was simply the lack of a meal for the day, othertimes, he was simply abandoned and expected to fend for himself. He does not understand how someone could be kind just for the sake of being kind, and much of his standoffishness is due to the expectation that getting too close to someone means they could use him for their own means.

* OBSTINATE : H'riel has a method for most things... He knows how his current life ticks, and he has somewhat of a reasonable understanding of what sort of areas may require a teeny bit of flexibility and what areas can just stay as they are. He's not necessarily one to try and find a better way to do things, and can become downright annoying when he has a way to do something that doesn't tee up with your way, because he will point blank refuse to compromise his way for yours. It works well so far as ensuring things get done properly just doesn't really make for a very efficient way to do things. Quite frankly, once he makes note of a particular way of doing things, very little will sway him from continuing to do it that way.

Describe Yourself:

* FIERCE: Generally a pacifist, there is a time and a place for defending oneself and H'riel is no stranger to fighting when it's required. He does work hard to make sure he isn't a hassle to anyone, but if someone feels the need to bully him for whatever reason, there is only so far he will let it go before he's going to push back. Preferably with enough force to stop it happening again.

* OSTENTATIOUS: He spent much of his childhood in rags, so when he first discovered he could use something as miniscule as a needle and thread to add embellishments to what clothes he owned, H'riel didn't look back. He adores the opportunity to dress up. And takes great pride in the patterns he can make with a needle and thread. They may not be as noticeable as some of the more ornate clothing choices others may have, but for himself, at least, they are a luxury which he absolutely revels in, even more so when someone actually notices his work.

* SELF-RELIANT: He may have preferred to be in the company of others, and looking back, has never truly been alone, but the wall he wraps around himself to stop people getting too close and his difficulty trusting others has made him quite self-reliant. Even though it may take him longer, he would much rather work things out on his own than to rely on another person to help him. He can of course work in a team, but will always find out exactly what needs to be done so far as his role, and will work hard to make sure there is no slack being produced on his part for someone else to have to pick up.

* CRITICAL: He's not quite so bold as to critique others, but so far as his tasks go, he spends as much time critiquing his work as he does creating it in the first place. While enjoying praise for a job well done, he will rarely feel as though he has done something perfectly and will always seek to improve it the next time around, so long as it conforms to the structure he places on it. This means that while he may feel as though there is improvement to, say, replacing glows around the place, perhaps in moving quicker so that they are used to the best of their ability, he will never think to alternate his route so as to deliver them in a faster manner.

* PHYSICAL: H'riel wants to feel things. He wants to touch. He wants to hold. He wants to know through motions what exactly is going on. He doesn't learn by reading, or listening to people talk. He learns by doing, and he would much prefer a hands on approach to everything he does. It's the only way to properly understand what's what.

The Magic Touch: Despite his dislike for lessons, H'riel has worked painstakenly hard to ensure he is articulate when he speaks. He can get embarrassed easily if someone points out a word he has misspoken, and can become frustrated when someone either cannot understand him, or is otherwise aware that his speech pattern was developed to further separate himself from his past.

Tell us a story...

* 2573-78, 0-5 Not even dragonriders are totally immune to the underbelly that is Fort Hold’s deeper corners, and when Ceeah of Blue Limaweyth finds herself pregnant by a trust with a whore she had found to dull the pain of her day to day life, she takes the opportunity to remain grounded for all of the forty weeks or so that it would take to have the baby – less so for those “honourable” reasons other riders shared, and more because even a comparatively short period of time where she is not forced to join the fighting ranks offers relief. When Hiyidgriel is born, she manages to convince the attending healer that she needs more bedrest before fighting fit, and while it was a short-lived respite, it was long enough for someone to enquire and subsequently locate his father. Since Ceeah didn’t take the opportunity to get to know the man beyond his unsavoury profession, she assumed (incorrectly so) that her son would be fine to stay with him instead of the crèche. It was, ultimately, a selfish decision that resulted in Hiyidgriel being left in the care of a stranger until he was old enough to fend for himself.

* 2579-2584, 6-11 Hiyidgriel is adopted into one of the lesser gangs that roamed Fort Hold. While he isn’t immediately useful, it soon becomes apparent that while perhaps not as clever as the other holdbrats, his stubborness and penchant for  following instructions to the letter makes him a very good road block. It is these traits that give him the proper place he needs to be able to survive those turns in the darker parts of Fort Weyr. While it may not have been much, he has enough food and water to survive, and enough of a sense of self-preservation to not get himself killed for some reason or another. He keeps his head down, does what is asked of him unwaveringly, and is rewarded with what protection the gang can provide.

* 2585, 12 As he gets older and less able to blend into the crowd, Hiyidgriel finds himself becoming more of a liability than previously. Persons he's meant to be stopping from venturing further into the tunnels - and thus uncovering whatever scheme his fellow gang members had underway began to see him as a little less innocent, and a lot more threatening. His point blank refusal to move out of their way was becoming tiresome, and on more than one occasion the holder would just shove him out of the way by any means necessary to continue on their way.

Usually it wasn't an issue. Not really. Many a holder had more important things to worry about than a group of hold brats skulking around the tunnels. Once or twice they may have even glanced at the riffraff before turning and going on their own way - until a peacekeeper encountered Hiyidgriel's roadblock and decided they didn't like being stopped from doing their rounds.

To be honest, Hiyidgriel was quite lucky. While he never knew the identity of the handler, nor even the gender, the wher itself was somewhat gentler than others, a blue, he thought, though the glows were dim and it could have been any colour, really. The handler didn't even say anything, just frowned down at Hiyidgriel as he stood there, stubborn as a mule, refusing to let them past. He made a gesture with his hand, and the wher at his side growled - a warning, perhaps, but one that was unheeded - and resulted in the creature clamping it's jaws on the closest part of him it could reach - that being a significant part of his upper thigh, right buttocks and hip.

It's hard to stay standing when pain was blossoming so close to his groin, and while it would ultimately heal with minimal complications, the wher itself not one prone to worrying his catch like a canine with a bone and instead making it as clean an injury as possible, the subsequent capture of fellow gangmembers due to the not-so-happy peacekeeper meant that when their punishment had been sufficiently doled out, he would no longer have a place among them.

Had they been found in a seedier part of the hold, perhaps Hiyidgriel would have had the misfortune of being simply beaten and passed over, left to rot while his gangmates abandoned him and the wound from the wher bite festered and ultimately caused his death. As it was, despite the peacekeeper's ire, there was some pity for the children, and while he was taken to the healer's for a brief respite, their punishment ended up being to assist the weavers still located in the hold in whatever duties they saw fit.

They were there for only a short time, however his attention to detail and precise stitchwork when tasked with mending small, non-essential items is noted, and prior to he and his fellow gangmembers being released to return to the slums, he is given a choice. Though it wasn't a hard decision to make. He could apprentice as a weaver and join the classes they still taught, or he could leave with his peers - to what home he could dig out now that his usefulness to them had worn out.

Throughout all of this he finds out about the birth of a child that same turn, resulting from a casual encounter he had had with a fellow gang member at the start of the turn. It's the first time he's ever considered the possibility of becoming a parent, but considering he can barely take care of himself he leaves the child's upbringing to the mother - never mind whether it would mean the babe's survival or not.

* 2586, 13 While he may not have enjoyed the shittonne of theory work that was involved in being an apprentice, Hiyidgriel thrived on the practical application of the weavercraft. Taking meticulous care in everything from stitchwork to dying. It wasn't the most glorious of crafts, but it beat being on the streets begging for scraps. He found he had a particular affinity to leatherworking, and by the end of his second turn as an apprentice, he was pushing for more lessons with the material. On top of this, he started hoarding the bits and pieces he could, in the small chest that had been provided to him on accepting his apprenticeship, and adding adornments to his clothes. They were never anything too in your face, you'd have to look quite close to notice the patterns he'd stitch into his sleeves or on the front of his vest. It was a way for him to lose himself, the time it took to create such things, while also giving him a physical application of some of the things they were being taught.

He also began to work on his speech, trying to steer away from his past as much as necessary. He wasn't involved in many things of concern, but found himself embarrassed whenever someone queried his background. Surrounded by so many crafters who came from standard, traditional families made him feel like he stood out, so he fabricated a story to explain why he did not have a home to go to at night. It wasn't anything fancy, just a sad tale of parents who fell to one of the many illnesses that was prevalent in the hold, but not before sending him to live with a cousin until he was old enough to apprentice into a craft.

No doubt many knew the truth, but he had managed to find himself among a kinder sort of people, for the most part, who felt no need to point out the holes in his story, nor make it known to him that they knew how he had managed to find himself one of the weaver craft. He did tend to keep people at a distance, even so, and spoke minimally just in case his words gave him away. Solid worker though he was, he was not nearly as social as the other apprentices in his peergroup, though he does not shy away as much from flitting about with the women in his age group - resulting in two more children that are once again, regarded with only the mildest of interests before left to the care of their mothers.

* 2587, 14 Thread ends, and Hiyidgriel moves when told without complaint. He is barely settled in to their new home when he is searched, and asked to stand at the first clutch on the island. The appearance of Neisoth makes him feel uneasy, though to be honest, the entire idea of impressing a dragon, when his only experience with anything mildly draconic had resulted in scar tissue over his hip, was mildly terrifying, and had been accepted more for fear of what could happen if he didn't accept than an understanding of what exactly it meant. As his candidate lessons continue, however, he finds himself enjoying the work involved, and to a lesser extent, embracing the idea of having a dragon of his own. The newly impressed talk about how it completes you in a way he cannot even begin to imagine, yet he feels the need to find out what exactly that feeling is. With a goal to give him purpose, he is able to move forward at a comfortable pace, and even manages to open up to make a few friends - not many, to be fair, but some.

* 2588, 15 This is the turn he finally succeeds. After finding out about yet another child born that he wants nothing to do with, this time the result of flight lust, he stands first for Kalestath's clutch to no avail, and then, Oriath's. He didn't enter the sands expecting it to happen, though that is not to say he was resigned to not impressing, not at all. He was just focusing on each and every dragonet that entered the sands doing what the candidate master had instructed so far as keeping as open a mind as he could when one of them spoke to him.

How he had ever found the thought of a dragon frightening was beyond him the moment his partner told him its name, as well as his new one. No longer Hiyidgriel of Fort Hold, but Weyrling H'riel, with the added bonus of having one of his few friends impress the same time - though perhaps not to the dragon she had been expecting. While there was the standard euphoria that seemed to hit anyone who bonds with a dragon, there was also a sence of contentment in H'riel that cemented itself in his heart.

* 2589, 16 While H'riel still struggles at time with the theory aspect of his weyrling training, he exceeds quite well at the practical application of them, muddling it up perhaps when the instructions aren't quite clear enough and thus forcing him to fill in the gaps with his own knowledge - an ability he is definitely lacking in. As he gets into the proper swing of things, however, and grows in confidence, he is able to at least carry out the more complex drills without needing to be guided every step of the way... Though if you were to check his chest, you would be sure to find lists on whatever he could find to write on, detailing in full how to conduct every drill that they are taught. Lists which go so far as to be made using a needle, thread and scrap cloth from worn out items of clothing or things that are of no real use to anyone.

* 2590, 17 H'riel and his bonded were doing brilliantly. Graduation was around the corner, and with each day that went by they were only becoming more suited for their eventual acceptance into a wing. There was no doubt about it. They were destined for more than just Prairie wing. (As far as they were concerned, anyway). That is, until a younger classmate appeared out of between just as his dragon let out a string of flame. It was (fairly) common knowledge that weyrling deaths were a rare occurrence since thread stopped, but that there were some training accidents that could cause an injury…. Yet no amount of first aid would have helped Illoth from going between… Just as it wouldn’t help R’sin and Dekkath disentangle themselves from the death-bound dragon before she dragged them all between forever.

Hiyidgriel had attended four hatchings already, and while he liked to try and prepare himself in advance as much as possible, but not even the golds themselves knew the eggs were hatching until they started rocking. It was a small blessing indeed that he hadn't found something more... enthralling to do when the announcement was made.

Despite the slight uneasiness that always fell over him when his routine was interrupted, he managed to get himself to his room quickly enough, his robe already set aside with a warn piece of hide placed precisely in the middle of the white cloth. He paused to pick it up, scanning the relatively short list with a furrowed brow.

Bow to queen
Step to side
Stand straight
Don't fidgit
Mind clear

He had most of the instructions down... but the clear mind always stumped him. The closest approximation was to think of something you could see through... like the water in a cup. At least there had been no adjustments required after the last hatching... he was definitely getting the hang of it.

A small smile crossed his face as he tucked the bit of hide into his storage chest, where it would stay until the next hatching grew closer or a change was needed, before pulling his robes on and joining the rest of the candidates at the entrance to the hatching sands.

He paused to offer Oriath a bow, sidestepped until he was out of the doorway and turned so that he face directly in line with Oriath's head, stiffening a heartbeat before she moved and staring straight ahead, face slackening as he tried his hardest to imagine his head being as clear as a pool of water.

He tried very hard to keep that image in mind, but there was a certain allure to the eggs that prevented him from fully committing to the idea in a way that was quite unusual for him.

He would definitely need to find a better description for "clear your mind" if he was going to impress like that blue rider had suggested. Surely he could get some more information from the candidate master when this was over.

Dragon Details

Name:
Dwalath
Pronounced:
D-wha-lath
Color:
Brown
Date of Birth:
7.9.2588  9th Interval.
Place of Birth:
Southern Winds Weyr
Clutch Mother:
Oriath
Clutch Father:
Kinildosth
Measurements:
Mature Length: 30M
Mature Height: 5.3M
Mature Wingspan: 46M

General Appearance...

Born a pale brown-gray with very brown wings and no markings, Dwalath was a pudgy brown with stumpy wings, a short tail, and almost no neck to speak of. He looked like an odd little dragon but purposefully hatched with little trouble.

As he grows, darker highlights will color his body and his wings will take on an interesting pattern but he'll always be that pale-brown gray when he initially hatched. So, too, will he ever be a smaller Brown. Though that won't ever phase him.

Personality...

Mind Voice: Dwalath's voice is a steady, rolling voice. Not monotonous, but not exactly expressive either. Even when he's excited, his voice doesn't really give it away. He often sounds fatherly - never hurried, never worried, but not really giving much away either.

Likes:
Tasks - Dwalath likes to feel like there's something to do. A job to complete, work to be done, something to look forward to and something to try. Doesn't have to be new, doesn't have to be hard, he just enjoys looking forward to things and then getting to do them.

Cleanliness - He's a picky sort when it comes to his appearance. If there's an itchy, dry patch on his body, he wants H'riel to do something about it sooner rather than later. He's a clean eater, hates the idea of getting any of himself dirty ( though he will if he has to ) and just wants to get clean as soon as possible afterwards. Selfcare is very important, after all.

Nosy - Dwalath won't be bothering humans, he has no interest in them, but he is oddly nosy about other dragons. He wants to know who they are, what their purpose in the weyr is, what they want to do with their lives… and infinitely more things than any other dragon would probably care to ask. He just likes being social with other dragons, he thinks they're infinitely more interesting than their Riders.

Dislikes:
Mutations - It's not because he dislikes them based on their color, he just doesn't like that they don't seem to have a place in the weyr yet. Where do they fit in? It's a problem that he doesn't ponder much, but he's likely to pester H'riel about it whenever they're within visual range. No answer is quite satisfying either.

Lectures - Dwalath is a 'learn by trying' dragon. He doesn't like listening to theory or 'how it's supposed to be done', he just wants to do it. Let him try, let him go out and run around. Sitting around listening to people talk about what he should be doing is the worst.

Strengths:

* DETERMINED : Dwalath is a very honest, very committed dragon. Once either he or H'riel has opted to do something, he will see it through - or make sure H'riel sees it through - come rain, shine, danger, or injury. He's able to understand and retain complicated goals to this end and ensure they both stick to what needs done to reach them.

* FRIENDLY : Dwalath is a social creature, when it comes to dragons, and is naturally inclined to help. He wants everyone to succeed, as he feels he must, and anyone left behind is a failure on his part as well as on H'riel's. No one should feel left behind.

* DUTY / RULE BOUND : Perhaps obvious because he's a brown, but Dwalath is the poster-dragonet for following the rules. He is not above telling on others if they're out of line, including H'riel.

Weaknesses:

* CLUMSY : For all his attempts, for all his determination, it takes Dwalath longer than most to coordinate himself. Not that he gets frustrated, it's just harder for him to understand a lot of things because it's told to him and he has to then figure out the application of the order / lesson / etc because the verbal lesson just doesn't stick.

* UNFORGIVING : Dwalath tries very hard, in both his own lessons and ensuring everyone around him does well, so it irks him when someone else isn't. Anyone that is intentionally misbehaving, breaking rules, etc will be warned one before he either tries to stop them himself or report them to a superior. Once someone has proven themselves to be a waste of Dwalath's time, it can be very, very hard to convince him he should be bothered anymore. He can especially be hard on H'riel and while he can be more forgiving, he expects H'riel to put forth extra effort to earn that forgiveness.

._. I'm sorry I didn't do the hatchling template for the dragon. I hated it.

Name:
Chirp
Pronounced:
as is
Color:
Blue
Date of Birth:
27.09.2590 9th Interval.
Place of Birth:
Southern Winds Weyr

General Appearance...

A cloudy robin's egg blue, this flit will never be a particularly brightly-colored specimen. Instead, he's softly colored all over his body, a mottled turquoise that skews lightest along his tail and the trailing edges of his wings. Nearest to the joints of where his wings fold, he's significantly darker -- a deep, washed out teal that makes it look like he's been streaked with ash. He's a little oddly proportioned even for a firelizard, with a shorter than average wingspan and long neck and tail.

Personality...

Mind Voice: Happy and bright, nothing about this flit's presence or projections seem dour or gloomy. He's always happy to see everyone and talk to anyone that will pay him attention. Though he might be a bit easily distracted, he means well and backs this up with affectionate brushes of telepathic contact and images of things that make him, Dwalath, or H'riel happy.

Likes:
Being Petted : This Blue is physically affectionate, enjoying rubbing up against H'riel like a cat might. And in exchange, he will always welcome being scratched under his chin, having his head rubbed, or any other form of petting that H'riel or anyone else will give him.

Wherry Meat : His favorite treat, especially if H'riel makes an effort to train him well, will be bits of wherry. Whether dried or fresh, it doesn't matter:  it'll be the fastest and quickest way to motivate him to behave or complete a task.

Dislikes:
Getting Wet : If it's raining outside, he'll be nowhere to be found. Getting water on him just isn't his thing -- it makes him cold and then dries out his skin when it evaporates. He'd much rather take a dirt bath and then be properly oiled.

Charcoal : Something about the smell just irks this Blue, which at the very least will keep him away from the kitchens.

Name:
Trill
Pronounced:
Trill
Color:
Green
Date of Birth:
27.09.2590 9th Interval.
Place of Birth:
Southern Winds Weyr

General Appearance...

A tiny thing with deceptively huge wings, this Green is every bit a lady. Prim and proper, she wants to look her best at all times, and will preen herself regularly. And there’s certainly no denying she’s pretty; a pale aquamarine, she’s ‘faceted’ with some flecks of darker color, especially on her back. There’s not much by way of dramatic markings on her body, the most noticeable being those darker variations and some mottling on her body—especially her wings—that take on a slightly more leafy hue.

Personality...

Mind Voice: Her presence is distinctively sweet and clear, like the sound of a bell. She prefers to communicate in chirps and trills, and will never really learn how to parrot words. Nevertheless, when she's trained to project images or messages, they are rich, detailed, and accurate.

Likes:
Dwalath : Some might even say she's in love with the Brown. As far as she knows, he's her protector, her friend, and her mate -- even if they can't be together. Her naturally sweet demeanor becomes even more so around him, and her Flights are usually short, quick affairs where her suitors really must snatch her from the air, because she's inevitably disappointed she can't fly for him.

High Places : Perhaps because she's so small herself, but this Green likes finding high up, lofty places to recline and watch everyone else.

Dislikes:
Tending Nests : Suffice to say, she does not have a strong mothering instinct. Whether because she's a Green or because she wishes she was dragon sized in order to carry Dwalath's eggs, she usually lays her clutch somewhere safe and then ignores it. If H'riel ever watns to track them down, getting the location out of her is going to take some bribery.

Dust : It makes her sneeze, gets on her hide, and is just generally unpleasant.

Member Info...

Anything Else:
When she's physically mature, this Green will fly on 32.02. She will be a Force Catch.
