Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every OOC week. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Whers here, though not for firelizards.  There are Candidate events, Weyrling classes, Holder plots, and Crafthall developments -- a little bit of something for everyone.

See previous events here!

Feel free to say hello, guesties! Registered members can request a colored name here.

this holds no IC consequence and is only for fun.

A Sunrise Celebration [03.08.2590| 5.02am] // Flight Event

You know that feeling when something urgent drags you out of sleep, but you don’t know exactly what that something is? As if your subconscious was trying to warn you that something was about to happen, but you just don’t know what to expect until it slaps you in the face. Nishi’s morning went a little like that. She awoke a little before 5am, just before the sun would rise, a little confused. Nishi wasn’t a person who was used to waking before the sun. She had a schedule, almost always woke up at 6am, so she had enough time to get dressed and presentable so that she could be fashionably late for breakfast. (You can’t arrive first to breakfast because then you can’t pick who to sit with, they have to pick you, which is far too stressful a feeling for first thing in the morning.) So, being up this early was… disconcerting, but she didn’t feel bad?

Her braided hair had gotten a little messy overnight, so she sat up and went to unwind it as she thought. She had that feeling in her stomach, like you’ve forgotten something, like you’re waiting for something, but she honestly couldn’t figure out what. It was part annoying, and part exciting. She shook out her hair and jumped out of bed, the floor underneath her a little cool on the feet, her nightshirt crumpled and hanging midway down her thighs. Padding around her weyr, private for the elder weyrlings but still low to the ground, she looked for clues as to what could be out of place.

Behind her, Xasheyth stirred. Head rising slowly from her curled sleeping position, her eyes whirled from the blue contentment of sleep to a bright purple. The luminous Green unfurled her tail and rose equally slowly, but the rush of lust hit Nishi like a flash of electricity, like the storm that would brew later in the day. Spinning on the spot Nishi’s hands flew to cover her open mouth as she started at her bonded.

It only took a moment of stunned silence before Nishi squealed and bounced on the spot. “It’s your flight! You’re flying! We’re finally having our flight!” Quickly moving forward and making shooing motions to Xasheyth, Nishi moved to the edge of their weyr to watch as the slender dragon took off. “Go, go, go. Have fun!” She called brightly, waving to her Green as she glided into the weyrbowl, before pushing herself up into a current that would take her higher.

After what had happened with Nalise, Nishi and Xasheyth had been through plenty of lectures on keeping control of your dragon during flights and how important it was to not over-indulge. And although Xasheyth felt the instinctual pull in her stomach, it only took her to fly once over the beasts before Nishi quickly shut down that idea, a little annoyed and a little afraid that she’d even had to remind the Green. But Xasheyth had never been a particularly contrary dragon, and she didn’t need a second warning when the pull to fly high was so strong.

As she rose higher into the air, not keen on waiting for her suitors, they were supposed to catch her after all, Xasheyth didn’t roar or make any over-dramatic announcement about her flight. Leave that to the Queen’s and her rider. Her call went out like a soft croon, a seductive whisper to pull the males out of sleep and into the skies with her.

What better way to start the morning than a dance?

It was the rustling of Dallarth's wings that awoke M'dak slowly from sleep. Cracking an eye open he peered across the room towards his brown's ledge.

What's wrong? He asked, partly groggily, but the feeling clearing quickly when he felt something different between their bond.

Can I go? The brown practically begged.

Go where? Evidently M'dak's sleep hadn't been punctuated far enough yet that he was able to register what was going on.

Xasheyth's flight.

M'dak sighed, and looked down his side to where Ilse lay beside him, still asleep as he had not moved since waking. Not wanting to disturb the Weaver's slumber if not necessary. He had truly kept Dallarth grounded for too long. As much as he and Ilse had decided that they would be monogamous save for flights, M'dak had still tried to keep Dallarth away from as many flights as possible.

But it was unfair to him. Unfair to them both. Dallarth didn't want to do anything to hurt M'dak, or Ilse, but it shouldn't and it couldn't. This was simply the way of life, their way of life. Hopefully Ilse was indeed as understanding as she had been all those nights ago. Well come on then you big lug.

He felt a wave of happiness and excitement surge through their bond, and it made M'dak happier that he had given in. M'dak never wanted to be the one to hold them back. Wait wait wait! The brown had tried to take off the ledge, without M'dak on board. You have to take me down.

Can't you just walk? The brown grouched, but he waited none the less, setting M'dak down on the ground near Nishi's weyr a little rough in anticipation of taking off again. Enjoy. He wished the brown halfheartedly as he walked awkwardly into the Weyr. "Uh hi." Was all Nishi got from him.

Dallarth on the other hand, was in his element. Sure, he wasn't very good at catching other dragons, but that didn't mean that he didn't enjoy them, and make the most of the compliments.

I would love nothing more than to dance the day away with you, my beauty. The brown took to the sky quickly after her, following her up and up.

-leave you here.

The irritation as Fyenoruth's voice finally pierced through the fog of sleep was nothing compared to the disoriented fear K'zaya felt at the words that he managed to register.

“Wait... no... don't leave me” the bronzor mumbled, sitting up quickly and rubbing fiercely at his eyes, trying to wake up enough to reassure himself that the Bronze was still on his ledge and hadn'tabandoned him for better pickings.

The dragon in question huffed loudly, his muzzle inches away from K'zaya's face  as he opened his eyes.

The purple in his eyes was noticed a heartbeat after the lust coming from his bonded, and he relaxed slightly as he realised he wasn’t about to be abandoned... well. Not the way he had suspected.

“Cremath flying again?” he asked, puzzled as he tried to figure out what flight would have Fyenoruth so eager to chase outside of gold flights. He was sure he’d have known if she was, and it almost seemed too soon, though he hadn’t made a habit of tracking her flight schedule.

He was rummaging through his chest, debating whether there was even a point to wearing pants if he was just headed to Inanna's weyr when Fyenoruth grumbled impatiently, annoyed with K'zaya's grogginess as much as he was annoyed to be held up by his lack of a rush.

It is Xasheyth, not Cremath, rising, and I would very much like to go now... I will leave you here if you do not hurry. It will not be me who misses out because you are too slow to wake up for a morning flight. he responded, his voice switching from irritated to affectionate as he spoke of both greens. He was not the sort to chase every green who rose, but there were a select few he’d chase rain, hail, or shine, and Xasheyth had apparently been added to that list.

“Oh. Nononono. ‘salright. Nishi would have my head if I decided to skip out.” K'zaya groaned as he finally managed to find some pants and pull them on, stubbing his toe as he moved to climb onto Fyenoruth's back. He may not be a morning person, but Nishi's ire was more than enough to counteract his tendancy to sleep in.

Good. the bronze stated, waiting only long enough to be certain K'zaya would not fall and committing himself to the short glide to the weyrling weyrs where Nishi was housed.

“Well lookit you two. Finally adults, eh?” he teased as he stumbled off Fyenoruth and into the weyr proper. Clear-headed enough to realise that it was their maiden flight and an important milestone for his younger friend.

He did say a (quick) greeting to the other riders present before finding himself somewhere to stand, using a wall for support since his sense of balance was all over the place on a good day, let alone when he let Fyenoruth have his full attention.

By the time he let his mind mesh with the bronze's, Fyenoruth had already made a quick circuit of the weyrbowl, twisting to follow the green now that his wings had warmed up and he could fully apply himself to the chase.

I could think of no better way to start my day, nor a better partner to dance with. he crooned back, brushing an image of the two of them side by side as he added You would outshine even the golds themselves with me at your side. Only the best dragons are worthy of catching you and while he may not have explicitly said so, there was no mistaking he was referring to himself when he spoke of worthy suitors.

Alongside the more promiscuous greens in their clutch-group, Dwalath had started feeling the urge to chase when he was 16 months, however hadn't yet actually participated. See, there had been numerous lectures about what not to do. How your bonded wasn’t mature enough to handle extreme emotions such as lust and thus celibacy was practiced by weyrlings… so when Dwalath first felt the need to chase one if their classmates, they had both held back. H'riel and Dwalath had decided wordlessly to see how they managed. To make sure they could resist the pull of flight lust and thus prove they could control their reactions even if they couldn’t control their feelings one way or another.

Meanwhile they paid more attention to the greens in their class, trying to locate the signs of an imminent flight and making notes (as was H'riel's way). Thankfully no golds flew. The reaction to greens was bad enough that a goldflight would have posed more of a challenge. When they accurately predicted Hiakimth's flight, the brown pair were just about ready to join the chase… except every time their classes were doing group training, the green dragon seemed to do something outside of the parameters of their drills… Nalise was level headed enough, but her dragon was far too chaotic for them to commit to a chase, even if it was her second one of the turn.

As it turned out, it was a wise decision to make, with Hiakimth breaking a bunch of rules despite her riders protest and causing the rest of then to have to endure even more lectures on flight etiquette and how not to get yourself grounded by one of the junior weyrwoman. It was, perhaps, one of the most pointless moments of their weyrlinghood thus far. The entire year being scolded because of one pairs actions.

Needless to say Dwalath wouldn’t be chasing Hiakimth anytime soon.

At the same time, neither H'riel nor Dwalath were comfortable with the idea of chasing a dragon they knew little about. There were certain risks involved that couldn't be properly assessed without some hands on experience with dragon and rider, and so despite the amount of flights that had happened since Hiakimth, the brown weyrlings hadn’t participated in any of them.

Until now.

We were correct. Xasheyth calls us to “dance” with her Dwalath rumbled, his voice one of the few things that could pull H'riel away from his work – an intricate pattern he had been etching into the thickest part of one of his riding straps, where it would cause little damage to the integrity of the leather.

“Mm?” came the response, though it was a placeholder only as he caught onto the conversation. They’d noticed Xasheyth shining even brighter during yesterday's drills, no easy task considering how her hide practically glowed regardless of her mood. So it was with simple acknowledgement that he placed the strap on the ground, standing up to watch Dwalath before waving his hand.

“Go. Nishi will be next door, no doubt. I'll go around.” He said, pulling a shirt on over his head before heading towards his weyr's entrance. H'riel wasn't one to mount Dwalath without straps, even over such a short distance, and gearing him up then removing them would only cause him to be delayed – and he didn’t want to hinder the browns chances of catching Xasheyth. It was her maiden flight, sure, but it was Dwalath's first chase too, and they wanted to be in for the win if it were at all possible.

Very well. And with that, he was off, straining only slightly as he sought to gain ground on his clutchsister, the lack of a requirement to drop H'riel off making it an easier task. To Xasheyth, he crooned, though it would be hard for even H'riel to spot the affection to his tone, much as the pride would be hard to pick up Fly high and fast, pretty Xasheyth. Let us show the others what a proper flight looks like.

H'riel didn't dawdle, entering Nishi's weyr and offering a polite nod to the others present, though his gaze lingered briefly on K'zaya as he leant against the weyr wall. The man had been in the class above, but there had been plenty of time spent with him to cause a frown to cross his face. The man was far too… airheaded to be taken seriously, and was not the sort of company he liked to keep. He was aware Nishi called him a friend though, which while... upsetting? Was not the be all and end all. As of yet she's never felt the need to put them at the same table together so there was that.

“Hi Nishi. Congratulations.” He rumbled in a tone similar to his dragons, knowing at least that this flight was something she had looked forward to for a long time yet.

Pleasantries aside, he stood nearby, taking a deep breath before allowing Dwalath to take the lead, an unnerving feeling had Dwalath's solid presence not been so… comforting.

It was early. Too early. Reesskith was the first of the pair to wake, stretching as some manner of restlessness called to him. Turning his eyes a faint purple. It took him only a moment to realize, followed by the call, what it was.

C’ace! There’s a Flight, the Blue projected into his mind, akin to something like a shout. If that didn’t wake up C’ace, the bugle of excitement from Reesskith certainly did.

C’ace jerked roughly awake at the loud sound echoing in his room. He looked around, wildly, for his Riding Leathers. Was it Thread? What was going on? Was someone hurt?

A Flight,” he reiterated, shifting in place impatiently.

C’ace rubbed a hand over his face while he waved with the other. //Yeah, yeah. Ok. Just…. Damn… Ok. I’m up.//

He didn’t get to finish the thought. With the handwave, Reesskith was in the air and after the pretty Green. He didn’t really know her but that had never stopped him or C’ace before. He thrummed with excitement, especially once he saw that his brother Blue Kimisuth would be joining the chase. You’ll find no better dancing partner than me! he answered, twirling in the air with the agility only a fellow Blue might be able to match.

C’ace yawned as he rolled from his bedfurs. Though the start of the flight lust was coloring his world with splashes of the sky, he knew how to dress himself in a dead stupor. He’d done it during the Pass. Though he only bothered with pants before he made his way out of his weyr. Whether through Reesskith or instinctively driven toward the rider through lust, C’ace found his way quite easily.

She was pretty, she was young, and C’ace hoped to have a good morning indeed.

Get up, Finna. There’s a young Green rising.

Blinking against the early morning right, the Blue rider half rose on her elbows to study Kimisuth where he was standing at the edge of their weyr. The picture of eagerness, he was shifting his weight from one side to the other, half flaring and refolding his wings as he stared outward toward the lightening sky. //Another weyrling?//

I think so, yes. He sent a picture of Xasheyth through his own vision, allowing Finna a clear view of the young Green, nearly luminous with both her pretty hide and its increased sheen as she rose for her mating Flight. Does it matter either way? I want to chase her.

//Okay, okay.// Yawning slightly, she slid out of bed and cast about for a shirt, finding one lying on the floor where it had been dropped the previous night. Normally, Finna might have bothered putting on a breast wrap before pulling the fabric over her head… but this was for a Flight. No one was going to care, if they noticed even she wasn’t wearing one at all.

Hurry up!

“I am!” Once she had a pair of shorts on too, she finally crossed to Kimisuth and hauled herself up onto his back. The Blue was in the air nearly before she’d grabbed onto his neck ridges, skimming down onto the grass to deposit Finna outside the ground weyrs and then launching himself back toward the sky. He even darted teasingly by Reesskith when he was close enough, flicking his tail playfully at the other Blue even as he crooned to Xasheyth herself. If it’s a dance you want, you’ll need a nimble partner. No overbearing Bronze or stiff Brown, but a dragon just like him.

Though she flashed a smile at the other riders already gathered, Finna paid them little mind once she was in Nishi’s weyr. No, all her attention was focused on the pretty Green rider, just as energetic and excited as her dragon seemed to be. Perhaps this was her first Flight, or one of them. An exhilarating time for any, certainly.

Finna would be glad to be a part of it, whether she and Kimisuth won or not.

Although M’dak didn’t know Nishi, she’d seen him around plenty in her days in the fisher craft. It was his wing that she knew best, even if she didn’t personally know them all. Watching all the rider’s arrive, she didn’t want to meld with Xasheyth just yet, Nishi wanted to just enjoy the site of all the male colours surging after her Green, so she sent him a beaming smile with a “hi” in return.

K’zaya, on the other hand, got a slightly less dignified response. Scrunching up her nose and poking out her tongue, Nishi was really happy he was here. Although she’d probably be happy with any and all the suitors, maybe not the Blacks, it was a true relief to have people she knew and trusted in the room. Not that it would sway Xasheyth, but it helped keep any growing nervousness at bay. It was with the same relief and happiness that she twisted to greet H’riel, as he came from the other direction. “Hey you, I was beginning to wonder if you two were ever going to pick a Green to fly with,” she said, before turning quickly to spot Dwalath in the air.

More riders from Beach arrived after that, although, again, neither would really know her. But she knew them, and greeted each with a smile and mini wave. She didn’t have much more time to be nervous about those that were or weren’t there because the crooning replies of the males had left Xasheyth eager to challenge and please, and Nishi felt the pull to see the skies through Xasheyth.

Spiralling up and up, Xasheyth used a bit of energy to climb to where she wanted, but once she felt the true warmth of the sun on her skin, she let the wind take her. Although the storm wouldn’t brew properly until later in the day, the winds were already stronger than usual once out of the protective curve of the volcano. All the Green had to do was tilt her body and it dragged her into a dizzying set of sideways tumbles, like a slightly more attractive tumbleweed, and for once, Xasheyth was happy for the strength of the elements.

Although used to spins and tumbles on dragonback, this sensation was foreign to Nishi in ways both difficult and exhilarating, and she was promptly set on her ass, though still smiling like an almost maniac. Later, Nishi would undoubtedly be annoyed that she’d fallen over during her first flight, and later still, would try to wipe the moment from her memory, and try to manipulate everyone else into doing the same, but for now, she would try to save her dignity by very quickly sitting up straight with her legs crossed.

Obviously she hadn’t fallen, she was pre-empting her bonded’s choices and clearly decided with purpose and grace that she would sit instead of stand. Obviously. Clearly. Anyone who said otherwise didn’t know Nishi at all. Fall over during her first flight, pssh.

Only slightly distracted by her bonded, Xasheyth pulled out of the twirls and shot out diagonally downwards and in the opposite direction she’d been pushed. Her agile frame allowing for speed and cutting through the wind easily. Allowing her gaze to stray back to the males, she wondered how they’d handle the sharp turn against the wind.

Once she felt cold air again, untouched yet by the suns rays, Xasheyth untucked her wings and beat for the clouds once more. The first challenge to her males would be her changes in pace, the second she’d find among the fluffy, white shapes.

K’zaya scoffed, acting insulted as Nishi so rudely greeted him after he had gone out of his way to be awake at such an early hour just for her and the feigned hurt as she turned and gave H’riel a much more pleasant hello was brought about with the slightest pang of jalousy, stemming more from Fyenoruth that these other males were threatening his prize than an actually irritation towards the other weyrling.

Practiced as he was at trying to ignore the pull of a gold’s flight lust to prevent Fyenoruth from winning, he was lucid long enough to see karma bite Nishi on the arse, though hi slaughter may have gone unnoticed considering the greenrider seemed almost entirely enthralled by her bonded.  He wouldn’t insult her by not giving his all in this chase, however, and while he would make sure to remind her of the incident later, he did not want to fall victim to her ire and so let Fyenoruth lead the way, closing his eyes to try and minimize the double-layered visions of the weyr he stood in and the lightening sky that Fyenoruth saw surrounding the glowing beacon that was Xasheyth.

Fyenoruth may have been an average sized bronze, but his body was designed in such a way that while not able to flit about quite as well as a green or a blue, he could no doubt bend and twist with enough flexibility as to give him an advantage over some of the more solidly built dragons in the air with him. All his focus on Xasheyth as she spiraled away from them, Fyenoruth angled his own wing sto capture the sideways gust, though used brute force to stop himself from tipping, allowing the wind to lend additional speed as he arced sideways, letting the wind tip him as it wished, but not allowing it to control him as a smaller dragon might.

He intended to catch Xasheyth, and so each action was made with that goal in mind. He may not have been upright, but his gaze never wandered, and while he didn’t quite anticipate her sharp turn, taking the higher road so to speak gave him enough of a chance to allow the roll that had started earlier, to finish, tucking his wings in once he was facing the right direction and dropping after her. The wind posed a slight problem until he figured out how to tilt his wings into the gust, streamlining him just enough to allow his greater weight to lend some extra speed.

Stopping posed a slight issue as Xasheyth changed her pace, heading back towards the clouds at a different angle to the one he was trying to intersect. With his wings already open, it wasn’t a matter of simply using them to brake, instead he had to twist and swoop to try and minimize the pull of the current while maintaining enough momentum to carry him over the top of it and let him give chase as quickly as possible. A feat he did manage to accomplish, but losing him what ground he had gained in his earlier dive, finding himself among the bulk of his competitors instead of leading the way as he had aimed to be.

Growling to himself, he tried to power forward, trying to better anticipate Xasheyth’s acrobatics as he followed her towards the clouds.

H’riel’s brow creased at Nishi’s words picking up her happiness, but and what he thought was a tease, but not quite able to comprehend it, so instead, he said “You should’ve asked.” Though there was no annoyance in his tone, only genuine concern that she was worried about their development so far as sexual maturity (for Dwalath) was concerned. He had waited a fair period of time after Dwalath was ready so at least in that he felt her concern may have been justified. Though there was no reason to have been worried…

No further words were exchanged, and he let himself succumb to Dwalath’s mind, unaware that his own not-so-manic smile had spread over his face as Dwalath powered through the air, paying little mind to the not-yet-rampaging winds. Flying on his back was one thing, but flying. now that was an entirely new sensation, and one that he hadn’t quite prepared himself for. Thankfully, the brown was less inclined to acrobatics, and gave H’riel the opportunity to remain somewhat centred. A fact that meant he didn’t end up joining Nishi when she sat down.

Dwalath may have reached his adult size, but he still possessed an awkwardness that was hard to temper – particularly if he decided to be showy about his chase.

So he wasn’t.

Relying on brute strength alone, he made to chase after Xasheyth in as straight a line as possible, his soft rumbling an indication of the immense pleasure he felt at finally putting into practice the skills he had been working on throughout weyrlinghood, without verbal commands he never quite understood completely to muddle things.
He had stamina.
He knew that.
He lacked agility.
He knew that too.
So catching Xasheyth would be less about following her tumbles, dips and dives, and more about catching up to her however he could, and closing the gap when she was tired enough that what he lacked in speed no longer mattered.

Well done. Dwalath crooned, despite himself as Xasheyth executed a sharp turn immediately after pulling out of her wild tumble, twisting himself to dip underneath the headwind she sluiced through with all the sharpness he had come to expect from months of drills with her. He was too bulky to follow, but he had patience, and was in a far better position than others when she changed trajectory once more and started powering towards the cloud layer.

He could gain ground as she climbed higher, stronger and thus able to gain some ground as he beat his wings to follow her. He was intrigued by her trajectory, the cloud layer thick, and even with the brightening sky they would work to obscure even her glowing hide. Are you trying to hide, Xasheyth? He asked her, and again it would be hard to spot the pride at such a strategy, regardless of whether that was her intent. Either he was right, and she would be able to lose some of her lesser suitors, or he was wrong, and she was capable of leaving him guessing.

The answer itself didn’t matter, really, his desire to possess the green, to claim her as his, even for just a day only grew stronger as he chased. They had done well to wait. Xasheyth was proving a worthy dragon for their first flight.

M'dak decided that his safest position was going to be leaning up against the wall, reasonably removed from the growing crowd of people. It seemed quite a few of them knew the rider as well, Nishi, he believed. Whether or not she knew who he was didn't matter to him, but M'dak prided himself on observation, and so he knew her name at least.

And so, he resisted the urge to help her to her feet again. He was nothing if not a gentleman, but this was a flight, and with one so young, M'dak knew that touching Nishi, even innocently wouldn't be wise. Besides, she seemed to be brushing it off quite well, deciding that her place was meant to be on the floor anyways. A wise choice considering Xasheyth's acrobatics.

Dallarth didn't mimic her dizzying turns and spins, instead, he kept his wide frame completely extended, his large wings slicing through the air in wide, but steep turns, following her moves. He climbed when she climbed, and dived when she dived, tried once or twice to swing by her in a flirtatious way. But Dallarth was mostly just enjoying his time. Being able to chase a beautiful green, and allow the sky to take him away.

A happy trumpet echoed in the sky for her idea to climb into the puffy clouds. Would she lose herself within them? Play a game of firelizard and tunnel snake? Obscuring herself from their searching eyes in order to make this all a little more difficult? Or would be simply enjoy the view? Her green hide contrasting beautifully with the stark white?

Dallarth was more than happy to wait and see.

Acrobatic Green Flights were far more interesting than straightforward ones, at least as far as Kimisuth was concerned. It suited his drive to show off, to impress whatever female he was chasing with his own mastery of the air. And so when this young Green, inexperienced though she was, seemed determined to put her pursuers through their paces, he was more than happy to oblige her.

But that didn’t mean he couldn’t have a bit of fun too. So though he dogged her flightpath, his route in doing so was somewhat less direct than those of the other males. Rather, he spun in showy spirals upward as she climbed, spreading his wingsails as wide as he could and letting the strong breezes tug him along with them. Like any ship subject to the weather’s whims, he tacked to and fro to keep up his momentum, angling his body to better move through the air and provide the least amount of resistance.

His rider’s concern—and then faint amusement—at Nishi’s tumble barely registered to him, his attention focused solely on Xasheyth. Even the other males largely fell out of his purview, particularly when the limber Green twisted out of her looping motions and shot downward. Tucking his wings close to his body, the brightly colored Blue shot after her, letting his weight drop him in her wake. Not as heavy and ponderous as some of the larger dragons, he wasn’t thrown by the turn into the wind.

Having used his momentum to carry him downward, however, put him at something of a disadvantage when she climbed toward he clouds again. With his smaller wings and slighter power, he wasn’t going to be able to jet himself upward with the same pumping wingbeats as some of the other contenders. Not that Kimisuth was about to let that dissuade him.

And not, especially, when the chase might get even more interesting. Xasheyth truly would be testing them, and their ability to anticipate her movements or make a lucky turn, if she was going to lead them into the cloudbank. Whatever her strategy, he was more than happy to go along for the ride.

Once more feeling her smooth skin warming in the early sun, Xasheyth let out a happy croon. Even though she could feel her energy dropping with each hard beat of her wings, something primal pushed her on and up. She wouldn’t allow her first flight to end after just a few twists in the bowl, she needed to test them. Both her pursuers, and herself. Was this what all flights were like? This drive and intensity? Or was it a by-product of the personalities of dragon and rider, so eager to prove themselves, so eager to be the best they could be, and revelling in every moment of it?

It would be a risk to level out, Xasheyth knew, given all of the males were stronger and more powerful than she, it would be all too easy for them to catch her on their way up as she levelled. But as Dwalath’s mind touched hers briefly, she elected not to reply, instead broadcasting a soft laughter, before twisting into a loop. Twisting backwards rather than forwards in an attempt to throw off her pursuers, she spun before darting forward into the closest cloud.

Hidden by the growing cloud bank, she levelled out to conserve the energy she had left. Wings spread out as far as she could, Xasheyth glided in and out of the clouds, leaving glimpses of her bright hide for the males following her.

It wouldn’t be long now, she didn’t have the energy to make another climb, and it would be too risky to take a dive back towards the Weyrbowl if she wanted a proper flight. If the males wanted her, they’ve have to find and catch her in the clouds.

Dwalath huffed at Xasheyth's response, though it was more of a determined noise than an irritated one, following the green's upwards flight with a critical eye. A Dragon better accustomed to doing, he paid no mind to his competitors, ready to twist away should she attempt a dive towards the weyrbowl as he had seen many a green do before.

He swayed ever so slightly at the flurry of movement as Xasheyth twisted around, ready to pitch himself after her when she simply darted into the cloud layer as he had suspected earlier, the quick motions distracting him enough for her to disappear when he adjusted his flight path to follow her.

The determined calm that tempered his flightlust gave him enough of an edge over his competitors that he pulled away from the majority of the pursuers, though it was not quite enough of a leeway to give him leave to let his guard down. Xasheyth was proving rather elusive, and he followed her beneath the cloud layer as best he could for only a few brief moments before deciding she probably wasn't going to resort to more acrobatics to evade them.

It was an easy switch to make, despite the desire that pulled him towards Xasheyth with an ever increasing determination, he still knew the green. They'd had plenty of drills together. Had flown together. Flight lust surely couldn't change that much.

So it was with ease that he ignored the ache in his wings, slicing through the cloud layer and levelling himself out so that he was somewhere above her. He was certain he'd be able to see her properly once he got closer, he could still see his wings, after all, and he'd need to be close to be able to claim her. The cold bite of the precipitation around him was ignored, mostly as he surged forward, a rumbling hum as his forward plunge bore fruit sooner rather than later.

Found you. Dwalath hummed in a matter of fact way, the clouds finally giving way to Xasheyth's glowing hide. He couldn't see below them, so there was no way to know if another dragon may have been surging from underneath, but he had the higher vantage point, and it was but a heartbeat before his body was lined up with hers, catching her tightly and wrapping his tail around hers.

H'riel brooked no hesitation as he passed by the other suitors to claim Nishi as his bonded had hers, easily scooping her up from the ground and succumbing readily to the dragon fuelled lust.
