Guest Info Plot & Events

Current Month
5.2591 A.R.
9th Interval

Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every OOC week. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Whers here, though not for firelizards.  There are Candidate events, Weyrling classes, Holder plots, and Crafthall developments -- a little bit of something for everyone.

See previous events here!

Feel free to say hello, guesties! Registered members can request a colored name here.

this holds no IC consequence and is only for fun.

Welcome!

Hello and Welcome!

http://southernwindsweyr.net/Images/news icon copy.png We are a mature, 9th Interval AU Pern. We've destroyed almost the entire planet in a catastrophic event. While we feature 2 new mutations, we stick pretty close to canon. We've Ranks, roles, and positions for just about anyone who wants to get involved, with a relaxed community. Play and post at your own pace. Swing by and say hello!

Southern Winds uses a subaccount system to distinguish between Players and their Characters. So REGISTER with your Player Account Name and the admin will assign you your Character Subaccount once your character is approved!

Southern Winds is a Mature Roleplay. This means we allow for sexual, violent content that would be found in a struggling, 9th Interval Pern. Sex is common place in the Weyr and terrible deaths are no stranger here. As such, our players should be 18+. These themes are to be handled maturely at all times.

Regards,
Southern Winds Weyr

The first winter on the island was a welcome thing. It was a mild time and much drier. Unlike at the Hold, when winter meant higher mortality rates, it was about as ideal as it got here. Beka was glad for it. She had spent the last few weeks holed up in damp caves, avoiding the rain. The humidity did horrible things to her hair, and the added moisture just made everything that much worse. The first clear day found her in the weyrbowl, airing clothes and sunbathing while she waited.

While she had been given a room, somewhere off in the dark recesses of the lower caverns, Bekareni hadn’t bothered to move in. All of her possessions were here, spread around her, including the large carrying sack that everything could be tucked into. She had bigger dreams than living in some dim dwelling, sharing space with the lower class workers of the weyr. Dreams which she had aspired to, sometime ago, and still found herself wanting months into the move.

It was hard to be a whore these days, when nearly every woman gave it up if only because some lusty Gold was soaring through the sky.

Beka knew she was going about it all wrong but wasn’t sure how to turn her path around. Throwing herself at the upper class didn’t get her anywhere other than a one night stand. Being subtle and coy guaranteed she’d be ignored. The intellectuals were all too busy working to have time for her ideas. Everyone seemed to care more about making this new Weyr successful. Why didn’t they want her to succeed, too?

Was it a bad thing that she just wanted to find some well-off all-important man to cling to for the rest of her life?

Some thought so.

That was probably why she was being given a wide berth this afternoon. There weren’t many gullible people left on Pern and word spread quickly that she was nothing but a fame-hungry mooch.

It was a bit of a surreal experience, being a candidate. Most of the time Qrellanor simply woke up in the morning, and forgot that he was in the candidate barracks, and he instead, lay awake trying to think of what he would have to do today to get some food, and who he had agreed to meet up with in secret. And then, his room mates would snore, or roll over in their bed, and Qrellanor remembered where he was. The fact that his day was now full of chores, and lessons, and writing, instead of beds and hearths and dishes.

His chore session had wound to a close earlier today, with most of the Weyr now filled with the last inhabitants of Pern, there always seemed to be a bit too many people in not enough space. So occasionally, instead of keeping the inexperienced candidates around and using up space, they were sent off to deal with their own devices.

Qrellanor was having extra lessons too, learning how to read and write, something which hadn't been thought to taught to a drudge. Which had been where he was going now. An early mark meant another marks worth of time when he could be studying, getting ahead of the curve. But he was distracted by a familiar face, one which he hadn't expected to see, although after a brief consideration, he realised how stupid that was. Everyone was here now, and Bekareni had always been successful enough to survive, and even more so.

"Bekareni? Long time no see." He said with a smile as he approached, her dark skin glowy in the sunlight.

She was sprawled in an enticing way, an inviting way. Though her eyes were closed she was not asleep and certainly she was listening, at all times, lest someone approach. A spider waiting in her web.

Footsteps sounded but she didn’t break the illusion just yet. React too quickly and she seemed eager, desperate. It was a fine line, though, she didn’t want to miss an opportunity. Beka was in luck, however, and no extra effort was needed on her part to keep this fly contained. Her name was called and the voice was familiar. She knew she needn’t to carry the act on anymore.

Beka rolled over onto her stomach and propped her head up with her hands. Eyelashes fluttering excessively, she grinned at the man she faced now. “Qrellanor,” she welcomed, true affection in her voice. “It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”

She patted the rock beside her, beckoning him over. “Have you time to sit? Of course you do. Come here, we must catch up.” She pulled herself up to afford him her full attention.

Q couldn't help but smile at the ease with which Bekareni expressed her emotions, he'd never been able to... figure out how to do it, so it was always refreshing to be around someone like Bekareni. He'd met all sorts in his candidacy, those who had come from completely different backgrounds than his little sideroom in Fort Hold, but a familiar face from a familiar time was something different than his now day-to-day.

Not bothering to answer the question she answered herself, Qrellanor took a seat on the proffered rock. It was true really, he did indeed have time to sit. It helped when you were the only person learning how to read, you could design your own schedule.

"You enjoying the new island? The ah... sun?" It seemed Beka was making the most of the only sunny day of the season so far evidenced by all the grey clothes and items spread out around her. Why they were all spread out in the Weyrbowl and not in the room which she had undoubtedly been given when she'd arrived was likely a different story. "Looks like you've certainly made a home for yourself out here." He raised an eyebrow at the carry sack near her.
