Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every OOC week. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Whers here, though not for firelizards.  There are Candidate events, Weyrling classes, Holder plots, and Crafthall developments -- a little bit of something for everyone.

See previous events here!

Feel free to say hello, guesties! Registered members can request a colored name here.

Southern Winds is a Mature Roleplay. This means we allow for sexual, violent content that would be found in a struggling, 9th Interval Pern. Sex is common place in the Weyr and terrible deaths are no stranger here. As such, our players should be 18+. These themes are to be handled maturely at all times.

Never as aggressive as some more temperamental whers, Alleshask didn’t really become more pushy or violent as the time for her Run drew close. Instead she just turned into a moody and clingy thing, fussing over her sleeping area and grumbling at Galle when he couldn’t be near. She even snapped at Needle some, but it was without heat, and the flit knew better than to take it seriously.

Even so, Galleweyne was relieved when the tell-tale purple tint to her eyes told him that today was the day. She always ran close to the end of the turn, and though this place was certainly warmer than Fort Hold had been, it was still cold for the island on the day she chose, complete with powerful, gusting winds that made Galle fold his arms tight against his chest as he led her out to the Weyr Bowl late in the evening. It was almost eerily dark, the moons low and thin and wan, and the stars shining only feebly from behind the cloud cover that blanketed much of the sky. At least, Galle supposed, it wasn’t raining.

“You certainly picked a night for it,” he commented to the Gold, who was a tense ball of anticipation at his side. She simply bumped his leg with her shoulder as they emerged fully from the tunnel leading outside. Her bright golden hide was muted by the darkness and weather, but the occasional flicker of glowlight near the tunnel entrances made her seem almost like she was glowing—radiant with the proximity of her Run. With eyes a deep and luxuriant violet, she stepped past her Handler and into the open area of the Weyr Bowl. Once she was there, Alleshask issued a challenging roar to the sky, calling the males that would seek to chase her.

The wind howled back, nearly as loud as it whistled through the Bowl, and the Gold issued her summons a second time.

Others would be there soon. Offering Alleshask one last glance, Galle turned, shivering despite himself, and fled back into the tunnels. Already, he could feel the sparks of the wher’s lust invading his thoughts, making everything seem hazy and too-sharp all at once. Escorting her there was always a risk, but so long as he was fast, Galleweyne wouldn’t end up doing something he regretted.

Even if a small part of him wished he could justify a free run to himself without worrying what his family might think.

Spoiler for OOC:
Good luck to all! This is a locked Run taking place at the Weyr. You can check in at the OOC thread here.

Arinada had stayed at the Weyr this night and it was in the healer area at that. She had not been feeling good and so she was there when Nadsk started to pace. Her eldest is with her and notices as well. Looking at her they nod their head "I will take him to the Run mom you rest. I know he needs the run. Since it is closed it will be okay." With  that Aridan and Nadsk leaving Arindad breaths a sigh of relief.

Aridan walks Nadsk to the run area and keeps a hand on his head. Knowing what to do from learning from their mom they stand with Nadsk. Aridan waited till they made it there to the Run area before letting Nadsk go. "I will wait here Nadsk even if you don't catch her."

Nadsk Growled and looked at his friend and the child of his bound he knew back at the healer area she would be okay as the healers would take care of her and her mate would be there soon. He did not mind if he lost this run he just need to run the only other time he ran was when his bounds mates wher ran and he almost always caught her.

He liked to catch that one as it keep his bound and her mate happy. In outher runs he ran to get off the lust not to win. Sometime though he would sit it out with his bounded. He hoped that one day Aridan would get their own wher and know what it would be like to have a forever friend other than their firelizard.

He sat and looked at the Gold growled at her to show his Dominic over her but that was about all. He was probably not going to run to win this thing though he would put on a good show for her.

Vironethian woke from a light sleep by Virosk's slightly dulled teeth latching onto his hand and trying to pull it heartily out of his torso. "What the-" Eyes flashing open he sat up quickly, staring angrily down at the ice-blue wher, who let his hand go, turning to head towards the door, with not a second glance at the blood which welled from admittedly small incisions in Vironethian's hand.

Luckily for Virosk, his handler was used to the small scraps and cuts that his aggressive wher deigned to gift him with when he wanted something of his own. As long as the blue could be reigned in when Vironethian ordered him to around other people, a little rough housing between the two of them didn't bother him overly much.

"What do you want?" He said sharply at the retreating figure of the blue, as he shouldered open the thankfully unlatched door. Vironethian simply received a picture of a Gold wher in response, fading quickly from their mental bond, with the image of a noticeboard with parchment tacked to it being slapped quickly over the top. "Right."

It wasn't like Vironethian couldn't trust Virosk to make his own way to the Weyr bowl, but simply that the Smith didn't trust whomever the blue might run into on the way. Pulling on pants and tunic, he slipped out of the room to catch up with the blue, who had stopped a few paces from the door for his handler. It was quiet this late at night, and the two of them only came across very few people, making their way back to their own rooms after whatever nefarious deeds they had been up to this many marks after the closing of the dining hall.

As they approached, closer and closer to the exit out into the Weyr bowl, Vironethian began to feel his blood pumping faster and faster, and Virosk, maintaining the pace they had kept on their approach, started to peel away from his handler and Vironethian's own steps began to get shorter and shorter. With the entrance in sight, Vironethian send only a mental shove to Virosk, and turned to flee down the tunnels, hoping in vain to not run across anyone when he was in such an... exposed state.

Virosk didn't rush, didn't overtly show his excitement, but padded across the Weyr bowl to gaze intently at Alleshask summoning him with her roar. He roared back, an answer to her call, although one that was admittedly less impressive than her own, and awaited her take off tensely.

Tiy hadn’t bothered to sleep, she’d seen the notice and knew that Tiynnalsk was going to want to go. At least this was a locked Run, finally, she thought. Her family was fine with her participating in open Runs… they weren’t happy about it… but they were fine with it. And they were at the Weyr now, even if they would never really consider themselves Weyrfolk, and there were different standards here that they have to accept.

She’d been sitting out in the Weyrbowl looking at the stars with her Bronze relaxing next to her, though Tiy kept close to the entrance because she’d rather not be out in the middle after the Gold exited the Weyr. Having been trained as a peace-keeper to be aware of her surroundings, she noticed the Gold enter into the moodlight, but she didn’t rise straight away.

It would never be a good thing to catch a Gold, in her heat, unawares, even if they were calm most of the time. Tiynnalsk, having already been given the signal to lay beside her and not move, raised his head but nothing more. Even though she could feel the excitement and energy emanating from the Bronze like heat waves, his training was still in place, he needed her signal first.

A quick flick of her hand and he was up, pacing quickly to the Gold as she let lose her first challenge to the night. His tail flicked with impatience and agitation as he had to wait for the other suitors to arrive, one of the downfalls of being there pre-emptively, but at least he wasn’t late.

Tiy rose slower, moving cautiously close to the wall and ducking back into the cave system. At these points she often considered it a good thing that Tiynnalsk wasn’t a particularly emotional wher, and maybe that was why it was easier for her to bear the lust waves, or maybe because they’d done this so often. Whatever the reason, Tiy wasn’t as worried about being ‘found’ in such a state. Most people tended to avoid her anyway…

She simply walked slowly, but purposefully, back to her family cavern and ducked into her room. Tiynnalsk could handle the walk back on his own.

Omenya desperately wanted to sleep under the stars near the beast pens tonight, but with the cold, the winds and now a Gold Run, she knew it was a far better choice to spend it locked away inside her cave. She just… didn’t have to be happy about it. At least someone would be out having fun, Yannusesk could compete in any Locked Runs he wanted, she didn’t even have to be there to escort him.

In the minehall, it was different, the people there were different, the caves themselves, even the smells were different. She needed to escort him there, but the weyrbowl and the beast pens were their home turf. Well… they were the only home left to them really, but Yannusesk and Omenya weren’t really people to dwell on the past.

Omenya didn’t even really want to dwell in the future, the present was really the most important, everything else could be dealt with later. It was that frame of mindset that had her curled up in a ball, under her bedfurs, patting the nose of her scarred Brown three times, always three times, before shooing him off and huddling deeper under the blankets.

She wasn’t moving. She was going to stay curled up in bed until the light from the sky illuminated the tunnel outside her tiny crafters cave. Her flits could get up early and fly if they wanted, Yannusesk could Run all night if he needed, but she was staying right here, she didn't care who saw her huddled under the furs with her flits splayed across the remaining space of her cot. Unlike most, Omenya never really used her privacy curtain, it made her cramped cave too cramped, she really only used it for when she had to change. Not that that even really mattered in the weyr.

Regardless, it would be easy enough for Yannusesk to walk himself there and back, their tiny closet of a cave was very close to the entrance of the weyrbowl, and the large Brown always slept between her and the entrance. The only challenge would be for Omenya to actually sleep given the lust waves coursing through their bond.

Yannusesk didn’t seem to mind through. Arriving from the other tunnels to the Queen and her suitors, he made his way over slowely, arriving just after she called her second challenge. Spotting a Blue, Bronze and another Brown, and a few other suitors arriving, Yannusesk didn’t give them more than a cursory glance. Not until he saw the Brown growl at the Queen.

Vaguely remembering the last Run he took part in, something primal in him rejected the stupidity of so blatantly challenging a Gold. Answering a call with a roar was different to assuming dominance over a colour so far above their own. That simply wasn’t how it worked. Snorting to himself, Yannusesk dug his claws into the dirt, feeling the ground he was so used to running crunch underneath him, just like Omenya, he considered the Weyrbowl his home turf. Even if he wasn’t stupid enough to challenge a Gold, he would be able to give her a run for her money.

Spoiler for bad pun:
Gedit? A RUN for her money... *cackles*

Locked Run’s were really not Neriherem’s favourite. All the effort with little of the fun. Not that he ever had to put ‘effort’ in, but still, it was the principle. Although… as far as actual principles go, he did understand it. Having been raised in a Hold for some time there wasn’t anything he held against locked Runs, they were a pretty good way of maintaining Holder values without endangering their beasts by never letting them Run.

But it doesn’t mean he has to like it. Or that he can’t complain about it.

So, he did. At length. Only, the only one listening was Nerihesk. And he wasn’t even really paying attention as he trotted his way beside the Brewer to the Weyrbowl. Of course, as Neri did most things, he complained out loud and enthusiastically. Not overloud, but there was definitely hand gestures, and dramatic sighing. He’d really missed his calling as an actor on the Earth that was.

“I’m serious, why even bother? Don’t you want me to have fun to? I’ve fed and bathed and fed you since you were the size of a firelizard, why can’t we just only Run when it’s also worth my while?”

Given he and Nerihesk had had to come up from some of the further back family caverns, he crossed paths of a few of those handlers who escorted their wher’s to the Bowl and then hurried away. He nodded and gave each a wicked smile in turn. Not really trying anything, but hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Still, it was a bit of a shock to see a kid hanging around the entrance of the Bowl. Surely his wher wasn’t running? Even if kids did get lucky and bond to a wher at a young age, most whers waited until their Bonded was mature before Running. And the kid couldn’t have been old enough to be apprenticed. Losing track of whatever lame argument he was making to his Bronze, the dark skinned Brewer crouched by the kid at the entrance to the Bowl. “Hey buddy, whatcha doin’ out here? You come to watch the Run?”

Nerihesk, with a cursory glance to check at the source of his Bonded’s confusion, and small concern, turned to the Queen. He was a bit late to properly roar in response to her challenge, and there was already plenty of competition lined up. So instead he found himself a position in the semi-circle that usually formed around the Gold, and simply waited ‘til she was ready.

Spoiler for Hidden:
@CatTiff didn't know if you wanted anyone to notice Aridan but Neri did! Feel free to just ignore him though <3

Alleshask might not have been a very aggressive wher, but she was still a Gold. So though the appearance of other suitors had pleased her following her roar, there was one in particular that drew her attention—and not in a favorable way. There was a distinctly arrogant bent to the way that Brown Nadsk growled at her, and Alleshask was not amused. With her skin shining and burning hot from the force of her lust, and the promise of the wind and the cooler night calling her with a deep and instinctual need, she was a creature of impulse and superiority.

Tonight, this was her Weyr Bowl. That another would challenge her, even offhandedly—maybe particularly offhandedly—drew her ire so quickly that it made Galleweyne lose his breath where he’d shoved himself into the corner of the wall at one end of his bed.

//Alle!// He’d never felt her so angry before. And whether it was from the boundless energy pounding through his blood or the feverish sensation on his skin, his heart leapt into his throat. Galle wasn’t even sure what had made her angry, having no clue beyond the flickering image of a Brown wher that he didn’t recognize.

Prior to Nadsk’s growl, she’d been eying up the other males who had gathered to chase her. Strong Bronzes and Browns, even a Blue. She would rather he caught her than a creature that had challenged her. Lips peeling back in a snarl and bloody red flooding into her eyes to mix with the purple of Run Lust, Alleshask charged the Brown that had seen fit to doubt her dominance as a Queen.

For a moment, Galleweyne feared she would kill him. But at the last moment she halted her charge and planted her feet in front of Nadsk, letting her anger flood from her to him to make it clear just how displeased she was, and roared in his face.

Perhaps not the most auspicious start to the Run then, but she used her will to push him away as she turned on her heel and took off, with no thoughts in her head but to get away. To feel the air on her skin even if she didn’t properly have the power of flight.

All would have to prove their worth to her, to take her. But it was too soon now, and Alleshask had rage to burn off in addition to the sharp edge of lust. Her other suitors would have a tiring Run ahead of them, could chase her until the dawn for all she cared.

Nadsk, though, had lost the right.

Spoiler for OOC:
I’m super slow, and I suck. 8D Anyone else still interested in participating, feel free to toss your male whers in.

Virosk stared incredulously at the ridiculous wher, his lip snarling above his teeth at the thing who had so riled up their Queen for the day. It was a strange thing for him to see, even a wher as aggressive as he was to watch a Queen so obviously superior to her subjects.

If it was even possible, Alleshask's display made him even more determined to win her. Mind so clouded with the animalistic urge of run lust, that he obviously felt he had as much of a chance as the large males in here. He'd just... beat them. Out run them stride for stride, with some physicality which would just appear because of his determination.

Vironethian tried not to laugh at the flow of emotions that spilled through their bond, and made his way back to his room a lot lighter hearted. Virosk was always so... uptight, pent up and full of emotions, it was nice for the blue to have an actual outlet without the prying eyes of everyone all the time. There were disadvantages to living in such a place afterall. Having so many people living in the one area, there wasn't a lot of opportunity for a wher to just... be feral.

His claws skittered a little in his enthusiasm to burst off after her. Feet taking a little longer to catch up with the rest of his body, and his body being far behind his mind as well. In his mind he'd be right behind her, any second, any moment. But alas, his smaller frame had already put him a little behind, even if sheer willpower would keep him in the running for a little longer.
