Guest Info Plot & Events

Current Month
1.2591 0A.R.
9th Interval

Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every OOC week. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Flits here, as well as whers.  There are Candidate events and classes and Crafter plots. A little bit of something for everyone.

See previous events here!

Feel free to say hello, guesties! Registered members can request a colored name here.

this holds no IC consequence and is only for fun.

Welcome!

Hello and Welcome!

http://southernwindsweyr.net/Images/news icon copy.png We are a mature, 9th Interval AU Pern. We've destroyed almost the entire planet in a catastrophic event. While we feature 2 new mutations, we stick pretty close to canon. We've Ranks, roles, and positions for just about anyone who wants to get involved, with a relaxed community. Play and post at your own pace. Swing by and say hello!

Southern Winds uses a subaccount system to distinguish between Players and their Characters. So REGISTER with your Player Account Name and the admin will assign you your Character Subaccount once your character is approved!

Southern Winds is a Mature Roleplay. This means we allow for sexual, violent content that would be found in a struggling, 9th Interval Pern. Sex is common place in the Weyr and terrible deaths are no stranger here. As such, our players should be 18+. These themes are to be handled maturely at all times.

Regards,
Southern Winds Weyr

Strike It Rich
32.1.2591 // 06:10 pm

While there have been enough small deposits of precious ores and minerals on Fort Island to sustain the barest workings of Craft and Weyr, finding larger veins is still something to be celebrated. The Miners may have been focusing the bulk of their efforts on aiding with the construction of the protective wall around the Hall—and what will eventually be the Hold—but a small contingency has still been working in the utility tunnels slowly burrowing deeper into the mountain. And on this particular day, they’ve stumbled across a thick vein of iron ore, wide and rich and promising a surge of metal for tools, repairs, and maybe even blades, if certain Holder elements manage to snag some of the substance once its been refined…

Most won’t hear this news until late in the evening when those at the Mine Hall gather for dinner, and it will no doubt be the talk of the Hall.

What does this mean?
Rumors will no doubt abound about the repercussions of this discovery—construction on the wall may slow while the Miners explore and harvest the ore. The recent resurgence of Holder interests may be less than thrilled by this prospect, since many are champing at the bit to have their efforts pay off in the form of new homes and space. And in terms of other concerns, will the Miner freely give their ore to the Weyr? Should it be traded for other goods? Do the Holders have any sort of claim on some of it given their efforts at the Hall? Tempers may end up running hot amidst all the excitement, as some will no doubt have certain opinions about what should be done with the iron and resulting steel, not to mention who should benefit from it most.

Penderton is terribly excited with the discovery. It provides a break in the monotony of a miner's life and is a good teaching moment for his firelizards, who are equally delighted. The politics surrounding the discovery aren't as interesting, he only hopes he'll be allowed to explore the vein himself.

Nealros and Bekareni understand all too well how this might affect their lives, however. They both meet the news with some apprehension, albeit for different reasons. More available weapons could change their habits drastically.

At the weyr, only R'ael, F'erro and Nieve will find any solid significance in the discovery. Again, there is much trepidation here, however in R'ael's case she's publicly optimistic about how it will improve the weyr and hold. F'erro is, likewise, very negative about it.

Nycolus is the only interested party in my horde, curious as ever to see how this discovery shapes their future. He is immediately aware of the potential leverage such a find would have for the hold against the weyr, though is uncertain as to whether it would be a path they would tread down. He's likely to be trying to get a feel for how the hold will handle their discovery during lunch, and is eager to hear any developments that may be made

Everyone else is doing their thing. I'll try to post in the event when I can

(I'm not dead! Just having car troubles >.<)

Thoridan would view this as a triumph for Hall and Hold and is looking forward to seeing increased productivity from the new tools they could make. He'll quietly correct anyone who gets it into their head that the Weyr has any stake in the ore, though he's open to the possibility of trading it with them for something worthwhile.

Arrobella will be keeping her eye out for any new weapons floating about the Hold.

J'thir will probably argue that the Weyr should have a stake in the ore because, after all, they can't be of much use without good condition buckles on their riding gear.

Danaera will be happy for the Miners but won't really worry overmuch about the consequences of the discovers, neither will J'hal in typical him fashion.

:excited: Keron can do a thing! V exciting.

Tiynnalacia is probably the only other person who cares at the moment, maybe Qailyx and Neriherem.
