Guest Info Plot & Events

Current Month
3.2591 A.R.
9th Interval

Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every OOC week. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Flits here, as well as whers.  There are Candidate events and classes and Crafter plots. A little bit of something for everyone.

See previous events here!

Feel free to say hello, guesties! Registered members can request a colored name here.

Remember,
this holds no IC consequence and is only for fun.

Welcome!

Hello and Welcome!

http://southernwindsweyr.net/Images/news icon copy.png We are a mature, 9th Interval AU Pern. We've destroyed almost the entire planet in a catastrophic event. While we feature 2 new mutations, we stick pretty close to canon. We've Ranks, roles, and positions for just about anyone who wants to get involved, with a relaxed community. Play and post at your own pace. Swing by and say hello!

Southern Winds uses a subaccount system to distinguish between Players and their Characters. So REGISTER with your Player Account Name and the admin will assign you your Character Subaccount once your character is approved!

Southern Winds is a Mature Roleplay. This means we allow for sexual, violent content that would be found in a struggling, 9th Interval Pern. Sex is common place in the Weyr and terrible deaths are no stranger here. As such, our players should be 18+. These themes are to be handled maturely at all times.

Regards,
Southern Winds Weyr

She Burned Me Down [ 30.09.2590 // 8am ] Jossekayne
« on: February 13, 2018, 04:26:19 PM »
Vironethian growled, the sound rivalling Virosk at his most annoyed, as he trudged down from the Weyr. He hated being supervised, like an dimglow child that couldn't know to stay within eyesight of riders, or stay far enough away from the water so he didn't get dragged in by beach snakes. That's why Virosk came with him, regardless of the blue's distaste for the fine sand which got all over him.

It would've been nice if he'd been given any indication of the rider which was to accompany him today. But no, it was just an annoying 'Remember to pick up your rider today' as if he ever forgot, rather than simply ignoring the need for one.

When Virosk felt like he reached a good vantage point to wait for the rider to be found, he simply flopped to the ground, effectively preventing Vironethian from waiting his predetermined 2 seconds and storming off, announcing that he didn't need supervision from someone who was late. Somehow, the vicious little thing was tempering him. Faranth what was the world coming to?

Arms crossed, he waited. Refusing to go and ask questions of the surrounding riders, checking to see whether any one of them were waiting for him. No, whomever it was could just come and find him, and then he could go collect his sand in complete and utter silence.

It had been a surprise to Jo when Y’an pulled her aside at the start of the day to explain she’d be working with someone other than a Fisher. From the information he’d given her, the Glass-smiths were in need of more sand from the Cove, and she’d ended up with the duty of safeguarding the one sent to collect it. Since they might be inclined to wander the length of the beach rather than stay near the Fisher’s docks, the leaders of the Wing had thought it best to assign an escort of sorts. That way, on the off chance that something went wrong, they would not be left defenseless.

Ideally, though, the larger Bronzes and Browns would stop any threat before it really reached the beach.

Lyrisiveth herself was excited about the prospect of doing something different. What d’you think they’ll be like? Walking sedatedly alongside her rider, the Green looked down at Jossekayne with eyes whirling an eager blue-green. Maybe fun?

//If we’re lucky.// Pulling her goggles off from where they hung around her neck, Jo hooked them on the belt of her riding leathers. She shook out her long dark hair then and stretched until lingering tension left her shoulders.

Moving up from the beach, she looked around to spot her charge for the day. And when she did, her steps actually faltered a moment.

What is it, my love?

//It’s him again.// How many times were they going to meet by such chance? If there was such a thing as fate, it seemed determined to throw them together. Jossekayne wouldn’t even have minded, if she thought Vironethian was going to be anything other than sour. Inwardly, she resigned herself to the fact that the morning’s duties were probably going to be exasperating.

She finished crossing the distance between them. Cocking one hip and resting a hand upon it, she made a show of looking over him and his wher. “What a surprise.”

Jossekayne hadn’t thought, of all the Smiths she might be working with, it would be this one.

"Oh for Faranth's sake." The words hissed out under his breath before he could stop them. It was the woman. The woman whose name he realised was still unknown to him regardless of their annoyingly frequent encounters which required them to work together. And required him to realise that she was far more useful than he cared to admit.

Ignoring her snarky remark, he scowled and turned away. "Well come on then, rider." Stalking a little further up the beach. However, his angry prowl was distinctly lessened in demeanour with the way his feet sunk deep into the fine sand, forcing him to almost rip his feet from the sand in order to walk quick enough to release his annoyance.

He hoped she wouldn't be difficult about following his instructions. The finer, whiter sand, that squeaked a little under their feet in the main part of the cove, was definitely not suitable for the craft need. No, they needed the hardier stuff. Where the quartz had been drawn from ancient rivers and ocean waves to wear itself down to the richer and more usable material. This did however, involve moving further out of eye sight of the rest of the cove workers.

Even though Vironethian refused to be civil, Virosk had no such qualms with Jossekayne. The blue trotting up to nudge his eye ridges under her hand as both a greeting and a demand for scratching, before following after Vironethian, his feet flicking up the sand as he trudged after his bonded.

He certainly seemed less than pleased to see her, which had Jo rolling her eyes even as he turned away to lead her down the beach. She’d intended to be pleasant this time, or at least try to be… why did he always insist on being so infuriating? Jossekayne’s annoyance sparked to the surface, and she exchanged a pointed look with Lyrisiveth as he stormed away.

When his Blue nudged his head under her hand, she did pause to scratch his eye ridges and coo sweetly. It was a bit baffling how someone like him had ended up with such a polite wher, but Jossekayne supposed it was the same as dragons and their riders. Sometimes the ones that seemed the opposite were the best matches.

For a moment when the wher moved to follow his master, Jo watched the two of them before stomping off after Vironethian. Even if the sand did inhibit her the same way it did him, which irked her even more. Quietly amused, Lyrisiveth simply followed.

Fuck him, then. She could be waspish too. “I have a name, you know,” she remarked, speeding her steps as much as possible to catch up to him. Jo would be damned before she let him think that she was falling submissively in line. Leave that to the simpering Holder wives. “If you were any sort of gentleman, you would have asked it by now.”

At least she could take some pleasure in needling him.

Well shit. She was absolutely correct. His mother would be disappointed in him, for all that she believed he usually took her teachings a little too literally. Mindara and Jenden, the couple who raised him, and for all intents and purposes, his parents, hadn't been a strict Holder couple. They'd been Weavers, and open with their affections for their children. But Vironethian had always felt that the Holder way of life was the best way to implement their moral teachings. Respect, duty and honour.

He got his scowl quickly out of the way, before stopping and turning back to her with his expression, in his opinion, perfectly neutral. An observant person would likely still see the flames in his eyes, or the tightness of his jaw, but otherwise, his expression was politely blank.

"You're correct. Journeyman Glass-Smith Vironethian, I thank you for your service to my craft, rider. Would you do you me the privilege of granting me your name?" See mother? I can be polite.

Mindara would be all over this strong, confident woman. Even someone as uncommunicative as him had seen that his mother had been just a little disappointed by what she had seen in their marriage. Loveless it had been, and he knew the fault lay on his behalf. Her death too. Even if his parents didn't believe that.

Virosk sensed the dark tone of his thoughts, and gave one of his quiet reassurances to Vironethian. It wasn't an all-encompassing warmth, but just a reaffirmation of their connection. Virosk might hate most people, and Vironethian quite often, but they were bonded, for better or worse.

Of all the responses she might have been expecting, for him to actually admit that she was right was not one of them. It was enough to stop Jossekayne in her tracks as he turned back to her. There was still a bright intensity in his eyes, but at least he wasn’t actively scowling at her. That was an improvement, certainly.

Him thanking her for her service was, if anything, a bit awkward. Enough so that Jo huffed faintly, raking some of her hair out of her face and behind her ear. “I’m Jossekayne,” she replied, though she didn’t invite him to call her by any of the shortenings of her name. That was reserved for friends and family, or at least Wingmates… and she wasn’t sure she wanted to consider him a friend given their past run-ins. Hand dropping from her hair, she gestured up at her dragon. “And that’s Lyrisiveth.”

What she didn’t say was that he didn’t have to be so formal. Or so stuck up his own ass. Doing so would seem like weakness, she was sure. And in the latter case, like she was going out of her way to be combative. Especially when he’d already made an effort to be a little more polite when she’d called him out on his actions.
