Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every OOC week. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Flits here, as well as whers.  There are Candidate events and classes and Crafter plots. A little bit of something for everyone.

See previous events here!

The Dragon Flies... [ 15.2.2588 / 09PM ] X’hos
« on: February 15, 2018, 11:53:53 PM »
Meyelthra stretched out on her stomach, content that the ‘work’ she’d done for the day was done. Wher, dragon, and flit oiled, she’d volunteered with the fishers, X’hos was now back in their weyr... The day was winding down and it was turning out to be quite a nice evening. Cool but not too cold. Comfortable enough that she didn’t need to bother with clothes as X’hos straddles her hips and ran his hands over her back, idly massaging her.

He had such lovely hands – hands she’d become quite used to in their time together. He never had ended up chasing her away. Not yet and Meyelthra was quite certain he wouldn’t. Not now. Not that he was attached to her. If he ever did get feisty and think to throw her out, Meyelthra was pretty confident she could just tell him no and he’d accept that. That was how their lives worked, and she rather liked it. He was attentive, obedient, didn’t go anywhere else... It was the closest thing Meyelthra ever had to a relationship. Shards, even Snap liked the man. The Blue flit dozed at the end of the bedfurs, as content and relaxed as his bonded.

Meyesk had long fallen asleep after being oiled.

This was, for all intents, home. Meyelthra wouldn’t readily admit it aloud, but she’d become quite used to it. And happy. Though it wasn’t the action packed, chaotic life she’d had in Fort, there was certainly a draw to knowing she’d have a bed. A place to sleep. No one rifling through her things if she didn’t have Snap or Meyesk watch over them. Not having to pay for sex was nice too. While whores had been fun for a time, having X’hos do whatever she wanted was just as good. Only now he just... did what she wanted. Generally without prompting, though Meyelthra did mix it up. If only for good measure. For the thrill of ordering him around. Because she liked it. Because he complied.

Though the evening was only just becoming late, Meyelthra was beginning to drift off. Her muscles were lax and lazy from the hot springs earlier, where she’d had her fun with X’hos. With all her needs taken care of, she wasn’t really resisting the lure of sleep.

It hadn’t taken long for X’hos to settle into a routine with Meyelthra, but after nearly a turn in her company he’d well and truly become ingrained in it. She was not a woman most would ever have associated with stability or dependability, but he had found that at least in this, she was. Not that he would ever tell her that. No doubt that would prompt a spitefulness from her that would end… whatever this was. X’hos still wasn’t sure whether to call it a relationship or not, though privately he had started thinking of it as one, in a way.

Part of him had worried many times over the last months that one morning he’d wake up and she’d just be gone. They had never really talked about her past, but he’d gotten the impression she wasn’t one to stick in one place long, so to speak. But whatever she saw in him, it seemed enough to keep her around for now.

But it all meant there was a conversation he’d never had with her before—and that still needed to happen. That day, he’d felt the first itch of what would no doubt turn into proddiness from Damerinth, which meant he couldn’t put it off any longer. All he could do was be honest with Meyelthra and hope it wasn’t enough to drive her away. This wasn’t like during the Pass, when the threat of a messy death to Threadfall had more often than not kept Damerinth from the skies for anything but their shifts with fighting Wings. X’hos couldn’t, and wouldn’t, stop her from something she wanted, no matter that it concerned him what his… companion… might think.

Do you want me to talk to her about it? his Green asked from where she was lazily coiled on the floor. She wasn’t watching them directly, but he could feel her attention sharpen on him. As much as X’hos didn’t want to stifle her, Damerinth didn’t want to make things unduly complicated for him either.

//No.// X’hos couldn’t even imagine how angry Meyelthra would be if his dragon were the one to instigate the conversation rather than him. //I’ll take care of it.//

As you wish. And she settled into dozing again.

Continuing to massage Meyelthra’s back and upper shoulders, X’hos gently ventured an entrance to the dialogue. “There’s something we need to discuss.”

Snap and Meyesk were well on their way to sleep and their own groggy minds were trying to pull Meyelthra with them. She wasn’t much for resisting either. Not even when X’hos spoke. It took her several long moments to even process the words that he’d said.

When he said they should talk, she couldn’t even imagine what it might be about. Dragon rider stuff, probably. Schedules? The fact he woke up at an unearthy time? Maybe he’d sleep in and leave well enough alone for once? Probably not. Had to go save the world or something. One day at a time.

After, what was probably to him an uncomfortably long silence, Meyelthra grunted that she was awake and probably coherent enough to respond. That was as good as he was getting from her at the moment. Unless the world was ending and he needed her to be awake this instant, she really couldn’t be assed. Nor did she really want to be. Meyelthra just wanted to drift off with his hands on her, lulling her to sleep.

The only way it’d be better is if he did say that he wasn’t going to wake up super early and leave the warmth of the furs. Not that it’d really bother her overly much if he did. Because she was going to sleep in if she wanted to.

X’hos was not in a rush. As much as it might privately unsettle him that Meyelthra remained silent for so long, he wasn’t about to comment on it. She would take whatever time she wanted to, and nothing he said was going to change that. But he also didn’t want her to know just how much he hung on every word she said. Not when the conversation they were about to have might end it all… it would just give her more ammunition to hurt him with if things turned ugly.

He hoped very much that they would not.

Given that she was bonded to a wher, he hoped that she would understand some of what he was saying. X’hos didn’t think Meyelthra was a prude by any means—nothing she had done or said had indicated that she was—but Holders could still be… particular about certain things. They had locked Runs for a reason, after all. And X’hos knew some of the things that they used to, and probably still did, say about dragon riders. Especially those on female dragons.

Finally, after what seemed like a small eternity, she grunted to indicate she was listening. At least, with the time it had taken her, he’d had some time to formulate his thoughts and better word what he had to say.

“Damerinth will be rising for a Flight later this month. I’m not going to stop her.” X’hos hoped that Meyelthra would extrapolate what he wanted her to from that. And it was better to start from a firm position. Make it clear that this was not something that was up for debate; he wasn’t going to stifle his dragon from something that came naturally to her. There was no part of that which would be healthy for either of them.

But that didn’t stop him from feeling a bit nervous as he continued to massage the woman in his bed.

Meyelthra didn't move, or even indicate she'd heard him, after he said something about his dragon's Flight. Mostly because it did take her an embarrassingly long time to not only process what he was saying, why he was telling her, but what that really meant.  He was telling her because, unlike wher runs, he wasn't going to find some deep cave somewhere with a sturdy door and hide behind it. It was going to be one of those 'take all comers' sort of Flights where whomever won his dragon was going to invariably fuck X'hos.

Or did he fuck them?

No. Knowing X'hos and his submissive nature, he'd probably be the one bent over.

That knowledge, and mental image, woke her up a bit more and she glanced over her shoulder at him. Only then did she really process his words. He wasn't asking. X'hos was telling her. 'I'm not going to stop her'. Could he? Would he? Was that something Meyelthra could demand? After watching X'hos a long moment her attention shifted to Meyesk, who was slumbering deeply next to the bed.

She hadn't really stopped him from participating in runs, but neither had she jumped into an open one. Not because she thought she couldn't, because they were in some.... Weird relationship.... But because it just hadn't ever occurred to her. She supposed she could, if she were inclined.

There was no imagining it this time. The silence between them was long while Meyelthra thought through all of it. What he had said, how he'd said it, and whether or not it really bothered her.

It did. But was it enough to fight over something that he was going to do regardless? Not like Meyelthra could damned well hold his dragon down. Neither did she want the big tunnel snake being angry at her because she'd upset her Rider.

Ultimately, this was just going to have to be one of those things she'd have to deal with because he was a dragon rider. To a Green, no less. Meyelthra eventually settled how she was before she murmured, her tone a bit waspish, "They don't really have to linger in here any longer than necessary, hm?"

The length of time it took her to respond had X’hos’ heart beating quicker in his chest just like any risky maneuver on Damerinth. This might not be as life or death as distracting the Hunters in the jungle, but it was still important to him. Still risky. The matter was something he didn’t intend to cave on, but Meyelthra was also the more dominant foil to his submissive self. If she pushed hard enough, would he be strong enough to deny her?

He would have to be, for his dragon’s sake, but he couldn’t imagine what being in that position would be like.

Because she didn’t indicate she wanted him to stop massaging her, he didn’t. Even when she glanced over her shoulder at him. Quietly, Damerinth simply affirmed, I’m here for you. No matter what happened, they would still be a pair. And they both knew that X’hos wouldn’t resent his Green for her own nature, nor hold it against her or blame her if things did go south with Meyelthra. No matter how much he didn’t want it to.

It was a testament to his nerves, he thought, that his hands didn’t shake as he continued to work out the tension in her muscles. His progress had been somewhat hampered by the shift in conversation, and X’hos could tell by it that she wasn’t exactly thrilled by his announcement. He understood why, but that didn’t change the fact that this was a hurdle they would have to cross, one way or the other.

When she finally did speak again, he blinked slowly and then actually relaxed some. X’hos didn’t smile, but he was soothed. Meyelthra was making clear where the boundary was, but it was in a place that didn’t bother him. He could accommodate this. “No, they don’t.” A simple affirmation, but a true one. As soon as the Flight was over, he could—and would—ask the winner to leave. Or tell them, rather, since it was his weyr.

If Meyelthra didn’t get to it first, anyway. X’hos wouldn’t be surprised if she wanted to personally oust any interlopers from their bed.

Meyelthra decided she didn't like it. After having the time to process what it would entail, and what it would mean, she didn't like the idea of someone, anyone, getting to be in her space. Her bed. Her weyr. She'd made this her home, whenever that'd happened, and the idea that someone, anyone, was going to just get to come in, fuck her X'hos, and prance about in it was something she didn't like.

But not enough to fight with him about it. This was just a thing dragon riders did, she supposed. It was a lot like whers, she supposed. She just didn't like it.

And she made up her mind that she didn't have to. So long that both X'hos and she were on the same page that no one was going to linger, then that was fine. As soon as it was all over, they could kindly fuck-right-off out of her bed and he could clean up.

Meyelthra didn't really like the idea of sharing her Green Rider, but neither did she think one Flight was going to make him swoon over someone else and run off. If he hadn't done so before she'd showed up in his life, he certainly wasn't going to now. That wasn't really... Him.  Obviously. Or she'd never have had the chance to insert herself in his life.

She rolled over on her back and lazily parted her legs so that he was between them. The better to survey him. Her tone was flat and her expression blank when she asked, "Do you like flights?"

He did lift his hands away when she rolled over, but only momentarily—shifting to accommodate her change in position and settle between her legs like she seemed to want. X’hos was eager to touch her again right away, though, and slid his hands up the outside of Meyelthra’s thighs as he looked down at her. Observing. But he didn’t move to initiate anything more either; that wasn’t really how their relationship worked anyway, and he certainly didn’t want to piss her off when her question had been so flat and dangerous.

If he had been the sort to really enjoy Flights, X’hos suspected that Meyelthra would probably get up and leave right then. But he could at least honestly tell her that he didn’t really care.

“I have no interest in them.” Losing control of himself for any reason wasn’t something that the Green rider relished, though he’d long ago accepted that it was just part of life as a rider. But that didn’t mean he appreciated Damerinth’s infrequency of rising any less, and that was pertinent information to tell Meyelthra too. “Damerinth only Flies once a turn because of it.”

If she wanted him to state it any plainer, he would. But X’hos had never been the constantly-proddy or over-sexed stereotype that seemed to plague others’ impressions of Green riders.

Meyelthra didn't protest when X'hos continued to touch her. She liked his hands on her, even when they were doing nothing more than relaxing in the bedfurs. His attention was almost a requirement now. Even if she was feeling a little testy now given the subject of the conversation, it didn't mean she wanted space between them.

He was still hers. That didn't change just because his dragon wanted to go whoring in the air.

His answer made her purse her lips, considering. If flights were anything like runs, he likely didn't retain much of it. If anything. So long as he really didn't dawdle with whomever after, then Meyelthra couldn't really get too uppity about it. Whers, like dragons, went through the same sort of thing. While she wasn’t bonded to a female wher to experience that similar rush, she'd been in runs before. She still knew.

"Well, fine," she eventually huffed, partially closing her eyes while she watched him. A faint smirk curled the corner of her lips. "Not much of a choice in it anyway, hm?"

Had he known her less well, her huff might have been more concerning. But X’hos knew that’s just how she was; it was more a noise of acceptance than one of real protest. And the fact that it was followed by a smirk just put him further at ease. Whatever explosive fight they might have had on the subject, it seemed he’d managed to avoid it. And without having to compromise anything important—that was even better.

X’hos knew he was bad at saying no to her.

But that was why he’d started the conversation by making it clear where his own stance on the issue was. Attentive still, he caressed a path up her thighs to her hips, and then her sides, fingers exploring her skin in a familiar pattern. “No, there isn’t.” A choice, that was. Not as far as he was concerned. Trying to force Damerinth to deny her basest instincts just wasn’t an option for X’hos.

How he responded to it all, though, was something that could be negotiated. Just as it had been. “I won’t linger with anyone else. I don’t want to.” And those words were undeniably firm.

Whatever tension that’d existed in Meyelthra eased as his hands worked up her thighs, hips, and sides. There was not point in staying annoyed. It wasn’t like the flight was happening right now. She could be mad at him later on, when it was. Now, she wanted to go back to being relaxed. Nearly asleep. Both Snaps and Meyesk agreed with that. Her irritation was threatening to rouse them awake and neither wanted that.

That he reinforced that there wasn’t a choice didn’t help her mood, but it didn’t further sour it. Meyelthra had already known that. She just didn’t particularly like hearing it either. When he clarified that no one would be dallying in their weyr longer than necessary, she nodded a little and gripped one of his wrists, giving a tug. Wanting him over her. “I wouldn’t think you’d want anyone else here. Not now.” She said it all with utter confidence in her place in his life. If X’hos had planned on kicking her out, it would’ve been awhile ago.

The Green Rider was hopelessly hers.

He enjoyed feeling the tension ease out of her as he touched her. X’hos had always been a very physical person, even if he didn’t always express that with others. But he liked being near her, and having her in his bed. It wasn’t always about sex—just the physical companionship of someone he adored. And it made him happy that he could make her feel good, whether it was through a massage or sex or any other action she might demand.

He had no problem giving in to those demands, after all. X’hos wanted to do what she said just as much as she wanted him to obey… with perhaps the exception of a few things he stayed firm on. Like this one.

As she tugged at him, he moved the direction she seemed to want, balancing himself over her on his other hand. The change in position meant he was pressed against her, and he rocked his hips ever so slightly out of reflex. Kneeling between her legs like this was undeniably intimate to him, and he leaned down to kiss lightly along her jaw.

“No, I don’t.” He’d swear up and down that he didn’t want anyone else, no matter how many times Meyelthra asked him. “I don’t enjoy the idea of someone else in our bed.”

Meyelthra watched him through narrowed eyes as X’hos moved over her, as she’d pulled him to do. Balanced over her but not a looming, overwhelming presence. He just blocked out the rest of the world while he leaned down to lightly kiss at her jaw.

His murmured words made her smile lazily. Her hands lightly gripped his shoulders and she grunted a little to acknowledge his words. Meyelthra didn’t need the reassurance because she didn’t think, for a moment, he wanted anyone else there. He was too busy tending to her, doing what she said. X’hos’ schedule frequently worked around her own, especially if she wanted to go down to the Hall. Between being a busy Rider – a Jungle Rider at that – and being with her in the evening he didn’t really have the time to pine away for someone else. He just didn’t have the head space for it.

“When is it supposed to happen?” she murmured, closing her eyes and allowing the relaxation of the day to sink back in. She did want to sleep soon and now that all that unpleasantness was done and over with, she probably would.

Since she didn’t direct him otherwise, X’hos continued to kiss at her jaw and neck—just chaste things, soft and slow. He wasn’t in a hurry to entice her into more, even if things went that way. At the end of the day, he was happy just to relax with her if that’s what she wanted. And since he’d interrupted her nearly dozing to have this conversation, he wouldn’t be surprised if the end of it meant they’d be returning to that.

Her question was an easy one to answer too. He’d never known Damerinth to do vary the day she rose, if she did at all, which during the Pass had not always been the case. But when she did, she flew like clockwork. “The twenty-second.”

Enough time that, had their talk not gone well, X’hos calculated the fallout would mostly be over. His own emotions would not be in order, necessarily, but it would avoid causing a scene. His personal time might be his own, but he still represented his Wing. And since that was the other truly important thing in his life outside of Meyelthra, X’hos did not want that compromised or harmed.
