Current Month

9th Interval

Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every OOC week. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Whers here, though not for firelizards.  There are Candidate events, Weyrling classes, Holder plots, and Crafthall developments -- a little bit of something for everyone.

See previous events here!

Pernese Online A Gift of Dragons Shadowplay Topsites Top RP Sites

Hello and Welcome!

http://southernwindsweyr.net/Images/news icon copy.png We are a mature, 9th Interval AU Pern. We've destroyed almost the entire planet in a catastrophic event. While we feature 2 new mutations, we stick pretty close to canon. We've Ranks, roles, and positions for just about anyone who wants to get involved, with a relaxed community. Play and post at your own pace. Swing by and say hello!

Southern Winds uses a subaccount system to distinguish between Players and their Characters. So REGISTER with your Player Account Name and the admin will assign you your Character Subaccount once your character is approved!

Southern Winds is a Mature Roleplay. This means we allow for sexual, violent content that would be found in a struggling, 9th Interval Pern. Sex is common place in the Weyr and terrible deaths are no stranger here. As such, our players should be 18+. These themes are to be handled maturely at all times.

He'd barely finished making sure Thane didn't appear to have any questions when he spotted another that was looking like he might be near done. At the least he had oil and meat already beside him so chances are he was nearly done. Even now the black's were still rather startling. it was like looking out over the weyr at dusk and seeing the brown and bronzes in shades of grey - and then realising its the middle of the day still. He couldn't deny though that when you stopped thinking of them in terms of mutations and not right, they were very handsome in their own right with their variations and patterns just like all the others.

"Hello. And you are? And how do I address you now?" He said, directing the first question towards the black dragon and the second towards the rider. Although he was less sure about the black answering him than the reds did. Either way he'd find out in a moment.

Spoiler for ooc:
@Kyya One weyrlingmaster as requested who may even have a room assignment if you're lucky. Also J'ken secretly apologises for assuming Veryk's chosen gender :P

After something akin to a slight scolding for not chewing, to be countered without hesitation with Give me bigger chunks and I will. Veryk and Karrimuth found an easy rhythm in the feeding process. It was strange to feel the hunger that they coukd feel but which was certainly not theirs start to decrease as Karrimuth ate, though the sheer amount the black had downed so far leant Veryk to think he'd grossly underestimated how much meat to grab.

It was good timing that they were approached then, Karrimuth still sharing his hunger with Veryk, though it was far more subdued than the pangs they'd felt on impression. The bowl had only a few more chunks, and they suspected it wouldn't quite suffice... a feeling that was backed up by the way Karrimuth glanced at each remaining chunk while he ate with an almost irritated disdain.

J'ken's approach had gone unnoticed by the black, though Veryk immediately went to speak when Karrimuth did instead. And you are? he countered, mimicking the blueriders tone though with an emphasis on "you" that wasn't perhaps as polit as it could be. ... Neither Veryk or the black were concerned though. This was all new, and Karrimuth's preferences were just as important as their own.

"A weyrlingmaster..." Veryk confirmed with a glance to J'ken's shoulderknot. "... assistant it seems." they added, though the words were directed to the dragon and not the rider.

"This is Karrimuth." they answered, scooping up another chunk and offering it to the black as they turned to give J'ken their attention. "I think we need another bowl." They added with a nod to the dwindling supply. Their name wasn't quite as important as establishing that Karrimuth needed to eat still. They were sure the hatchlings were meant to get sleepy when they were done eating, but at the moment Veryk felt no change except for the slightly less nagging hunger.

"I'm Veryk." They finished, not stumbling over the name Karrimuth had given them like others might do. It implied their mame hadn't changed, or hadn't changed much once they impressed, though should J'ken be familiar with the lists of candidates it may have caused slight confusion instead. Veryk had already come to terms with it being simply the black dragons perrogative not to give them an honorific, just as other dragons chose to give on to theirs.

He didn't twitch at the question that was presented back to him. It wouldn't do to laugh at the newly hatched dragon, but that was just as adorable as the reds. No wonder the blacks seemed to be doing so well if that was how they met the world. Only just out of the egg and already mastering the art of not quite stepping over the line into full on insolence. No wonder they rubbed so many bronzers the wrong way. There were times J'ken was so glad Tadriath was a blue so he didn't have to deal with politics.

“I'm J'ken, Tadriath's rider.” He said to Karrimuth, “and yes, I'm the assistant for your clutch.”

He nodded at Veryk's comment and went to grab another bowl, happy to see that there was yet another weyrling who was already on top of his dragons meat intake requirements.

Veryk, that was an interesting name. He'd have to double check the candidate list to see what it was made from as he was sure there wasn't a Veryk on there before the hatching. Still, with a name he could find a placement, Tadriath helpfully forwarding the information. “As long as you and Karrimuth aren't injured just head on over to room four when you're done.”

They are already causing trouble. I just want to eat in peace. Can't they take their chaos elsewhere? Zarenna was having one hell of a time trying to get the green dragonet to eat. She seemed to be more concerned with the fact that her brothers and sisters were being loud and chaotic, as the green put it. "You still need to eat Atissyth. If you don't eat, you won't be able to be strong enough to tell them to stop." That seemed to work, for the green started to slowly take the meat chunks from Zarenna. She wanted to look around to see the others, but she had a feeling that it wouldn't be the best of ideas at the moment.

Atissyth already seemed like she thought she was more of a queen than a green, which Zarenna found kind of funny and adorable, but she had a feeling that it was going to get them into trouble one day. But for now, she just needed to get this green to eat. Stop focusing on them. The more you focus on them, the more chaotic they seem. She was now trying to see if she could find a place that was a little more quieter for the green, and she smiled when she found a little corner a few feet away. Here, lets move here and see if this makes you feel better. Atissyth didn't answer her, but instead just kept following Zarenna and taking a small chunk of meat at a time.

Once they reached their little safe haven, Zarenna sat down and place the bucket in her lap. Thank you for finding a spot from them. Their chaos and trouble making was getting annoying. Zarenna smiled and she nodded lightly. "Anything for you my little love." That was a vow that she knew she was going to keep from this day on. Of course, this little corner of theirs had room for another, if they wanted to avoid the chaos at the moment as well.

“Hello, preferring somewhere a little quieter is she?” D'zel said as he stopped beside the green and her rider. Not that he blamed them, even bonded the reds didn't quieten down that much, they were still broadcasting a fair amount.

“I'm D'zel of Rohbarth.” He said, assuming that the newly bonded weyrling would know who he was, not knowing who the weyrlingmaster is when you're wanting to become a weyrling was a little silly. “If you need anything, let me know, or talk to J'ken over there, he's the assistant for your class.”

He looked down at his pad, calculating where to put them both. “Room five, when you're done. Any questions or shall I leave you to it?”

Someone comes. The warning was short and simple as she continued to take food from Zarenna. She looked up though and saw that the Weyrlingmaster was coming over. You continue to eat, I will do the talking. She hoped that it would work, but the moment D'zel spoke about the preferring the quiet, the green spoke to him. My brothers and sisters are too chaotic. At least over here I can eat in peace. Zarenna looked at D'zel with an apologetic look on her face.

"She seems to hate the chaos." She agreed with the green and she smiled once more. "I am Zarenna and this is Atissyth." The green merely purred a greeting as she ate her last piece of meat. "Room 5, okay. Thank you." She tried to think on if there were any questions, but she couldn't think of one just yet. Atissyth on the other hand could. When can we leave this chaos? The green was now curled in Zarenna's lap, but staring angry daggers at her loud brothers and sisters.

D'zel blinked at the unfamiliar voice. Precocious little thing. Not many greens that had ever spoken to him. “They are rather aren't they.” He says directly to Atissyth before giving Zarenna a smile. “They do tend to calm down, afraid you'll just have to be patient.”

He glances down at his pad again, double checking on the assignment he's just given her. Unfortunate that she had hatched so late in the clutch, but most of the rooms have already been given out. Ah well, maybe being in with a red and a blue will be good for her. The blue Oskith seemed very laid back so there would be the quiet she's after. While the red Anedaith might force her to accept a little more chaos.

He smiles again, very forthright little green. “Once Zarenna has given you a good oiling so that your skin doesn't start to crack, then you can go.”

At the moment, Zarenna didn't care who their roommates were, they both just wanted to be away from the sands and all of the crazy stunts going on. Once Atissyth got the answer to her question though, she hummed in response and ate some more of the meat. Zarenna looked at D'zel and smiled. "Thank you Weyrlingmaster." She turned back to Atissyth to give her all of Zarenna's attention. Once Atissyth claimed that she was full, Zarenna started on the oiling of Atissyth's green hide. She smiled as the green seemed to enjoy the oiling, evident by the humming and vibrating that she was doing.

Once Zarenna was sure that Atissyth was properly oiled and that there should be no cracks in her hide later, she picked the little green up and they headed to their new room. Zarenna already knew that she was going to need some more meat once they got there for Atissyth, so instead of going right to her room, she grabbed a bowl of meat before settling in.

Spoiler for Hidden:
these two have just exited right quickly.
