Guest Info Plot & Events

Current Month
8.2590 A.R.
9th Interval

Southern Winds has plotted events roughly every 4 or 5 OOC days. This means our story is ever evolving and Southern Winds is changing. Events for the current month are listed here, once you've registered for an account.

Our roleplay time is pretty fluid. We allow you to play anything that may have happened in the past, but not in the future, as events that may affect the entire weyr may ruin futuristic plots.

We list Flights, Clutches, and Hatchings for both Dragons and Flits here, as well as whers.  There are Candidate events and classes and Crafter plots. A little bit of something for everyone.

See previous events here!

Feel free to say hello, guesties! Registered members can request a colored name here.

Remember,
this holds no IC consequence and is only for fun.

Southern Winds uses a subaccount system to distinguish between Players and their Characters. So REGISTER with your Player Account Name and the admin will assign you your Character Subaccount once your character is approved!

Southern Winds is a Mature Roleplay. This means we allow for sexual, violent content that would be found in a struggling, 9th Interval Pern. Sex is common place in the Weyr and terrible deaths are no stranger here. As such, our players should be 18+. These themes are to be handled maturely at all times.

Regards,
Southern Winds Weyr

AIVAS is discovered. It sets Pern on the track for the previous detonations, believing that its initiative will fix the Red Star's orbit and allow Pern to be free from Thread afterthe end of the current Pass. The AI also hatches a plan called "Overkill" to release chemical pods in the Red Star's atmosphere in order to consume the Thread spores.

2530 BR
Bitra Hold becomes the first Hold on the Northern Continent to be lost under the extended Threafalls. Unprepared and exhausted dragon riders simply fail to protect all of Bitra's land holdings. Large burrows of landed Thread destroy much of the valley around the Hold, forcing survivors to brave an evacuation shepherded by already-taxed dragon riders. Significant casualties here are the first indication to the rest of Pern that their defenses may no longer be adequate.
Active Weyrs: Benden, Igen, Telgar, Ista, Eastern, Southern, High Reaches, and Fort.

Active Holds: Benden, Keroon, Monaco, Lemos, Nerat, Igen, Ista, Telgar, Paradise River, Southern Boll, Crom, Nabol, Ruatha, Southern, Delta, Dorado, Ierne Island, High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

2536 BR
Fall of Benden Hold and the Vintner Crafthall. Over time, the fertile farmlands and smaller Holds around Benden begin to fall as Bitra did. This turn, with trade routes rapidly shutting down for fear of being caught out during Threadfall, Benden is forced to evacuate because it lacks sustainable supplies.
Active Weyrs: Benden, Igen, Telgar, Ista, Eastern, Southern, High Reaches, and Fort.

Active Holds: Keroon, Monaco, Lemos, Nerat, Igen, Ista, Telgar, Paradise River, Southern Boll, Crom, Nabol, Ruatha, Southern, Delta, Dorado, Ierne Island, High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

2539 BR
Fall of Keroon Hold and Beastcraft Hall. The next major wave of Threadfall hits Keroon, destroying many of its satellite holds despite the efforts of Igen's dragon riders. Decimation to the populations of livestock in the area further hamper efforts to keep the region's Holds safe and secure.
Active Weyrs: Benden, Igen, Telgar, Ista, Eastern, Southern, High Reaches, and Fort.

Active Holds: Monaco, Lemos, Nerat, Igen, Ista, Telgar, Paradise River, Southern Boll, Crom, Nabol, Ruatha, Southern, Delta, Dorado, Ierne Island, High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Farmer, Fisher, Glass-smith, Dolphineer, Harper, Healer, Minecraft, Plastic-smith, Printer, Smithcraft, Tannercraft, Technist, and Weaver.
2540 BR
Monaco Hold becomes the first Hold on the Southern Continent to be lost under the extended Threadfalls. As the Threadfalls begin to hit the Southern Continent, it becomes clear that the amount of Thread is overcoming the engineered grubs designed to keep the area safe. The smaller number of dragon riders are not prepared for this contingency, and lose the first of the Southern Holds.
Active Weyrs: Benden, Igen, Telgar, Ista, Eastern, Southern, High Reaches, and Fort.

Active Holds: Lemos, Nerat, Igen, Ista, Telgar, Paradise River, Southern Boll, Crom, Nabol, Ruatha, Southern, Delta, Dorado, Ierne Island, High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Farmer, Fisher, Glass-smith, Dolphineer, Harper, Healer, Minecraft, Plastic-smith, Printer, Smithcraft, Tannercraft, Technist, and Weaver.
2541 BR
Fall of Lemos Hold. After Lemos' hardwood stands succumb to Thread, the Hold itself is not far behind. With no Holds in the region left to defend, Benden Weyr is abandoned, and survivors disperse to the other weyrs. The significance of this event is not lost on the rest of Pern: Benden, the weyr that sought to tame the Red Star, is the first to fall to its wrath.
Active Weyrs: Igen, Telgar, Ista, Eastern, Southern, High Reaches, and Fort.

Active Holds: Nerat, Igen, Ista, Telgar, Paradise River, Southern Boll, Crom, Nabol, Ruatha, Southern, Delta, Dorado, Ierne Island, High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Farmer, Fisher, Glass-smith, Dolphineer, Harper, Healer, Minecraft, Plastic-smith, Printer, Smithcraft, Tannercraft, Technist, and Weaver.
2543 BR
Fall of Nerat Hold and its associated Farmer Crafthall. With so many holders ranged up and down the coast to the north and south of Nerat, Ista's dragonriders are unable to defend every square foot of land. As smaller holds in the region steadily fall back, retreating closer and closer to Nerat Hold, the region's resources become increasingly strained. Eventually, the Hold and Crafthall are reluctantly abandoned as unsustainable.
Active Weyrs: Igen, Telgar, Ista, Eastern, Southern, High Reaches, and Fort.

Active Holds: Igen, Ista, Telgar, Paradise River, Southern Boll, Crom, Nabol, Ruatha, Southern, Delta, Dorado, Ierne Island, High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Fisher, Glass-smith, Dolphineer, Harper, Healer, Minecraft, Plastic-smith, Printer, Smithcraft, Tannercraft, Technist, and Weaver.
2545 BR
Loss of upper Igen section. A few turns later, Igen Weyr -- even supplemented by dragon riders from Ista and fallen Benden -- relinquish a large portion of land to the north of Igen Hold.
Active Weyrs: Igen, Telgar, Ista, Eastern, Southern, High Reaches, and Fort.

Active Holds: Igen, Ista, Telgar, Paradise River, Southern Boll, Crom, Nabol, Ruatha, Southern, Delta, Dorado, Ierne Island, High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Fisher, Glass-smith, Dolphineer, Harper, Healer, Minecraft, Plastic-smith, Printer, Smithcraft, Tannercraft, Technist, and Weaver.
2546 BR
Fall of Igen Hold and the Tanner Crafthall. With so many of the other farming communities lost on the eastern side of the Northern Continent, Igen and its large population of refugees are unable to support everyone looking for shelter. They are systematically sent to other Holds to balance the damage, but many are also lost in the evacuations.
Active Weyrs: Igen, Telgar, Ista, Eastern, Southern, High Reaches, and Fort.

Active Holds: Ista, Telgar, Paradise River, Southern Boll, Crom, Nabol, Ruatha, Southern, Delta, Dorado, Ierne Island, High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Fisher, Glass-smith, Dolphineer, Harper, Healer, Minecraft, Plastic-smith, Printer, Smithcraft, Technist, and Weaver.
2547 BR
Loss of lower Telgar section. Even with supplemental riders from Benden, the constant casualties suffered by riders at Igen Weyr eventually render them unable to hold the land below Telgar. Igen Weyr is abandoned, and the few remaining survivors disperse to other weyrs.
Active Weyrs: Telgar, Ista, Eastern, Southern, High Reaches, and Fort Weyrs.

Active Holds: Ista, Telgar, Paradise River, Southern Boll, Crom, Nabol, Ruatha, Southern, Delta, Dorado, Ierne Island, High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Fisher, Glass-smith, Dolphineer, Harper, Healer, Minecraft, Plastic-smith, Printer, Smithcraft, Technist, and Weaver.
2549 BR
Fall of Ista Hold. An extended Threadfall over Ista Island decimates the populations of holders, weyrfolk, and dragon riders. As their numbers steadily dwindle under the constant onslaught of Thread, Ista is unable to hold onto the island. The casualties here are extreme, and few make it out alive save by the grace of lucky dragon riders. Ista Weyr is abandoned, and survivors disperse to other weyrs.
Active Weyrs: Telgar, Eastern, Southern, High Reaches, and Fort.

Active Holds: Telgar, Paradise River, Southern Boll, Crom, Nabol, Ruatha, Southern, Delta, Dorado, Ierne Island, High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Fisher, Glass-smith, Dolphineer, Harper, Healer, Minecraft, Plastic-smith, Printer, Smithcraft, Technist, and Weaver.
2551 BR
Fall of Telgar Hold and its Smith Crafthall - as well as the Technist and Plastic-smith. Telgar's Lord Holder initially fights the insistence that he should consider preemptively evacuating some of the holders in the area to other regions. Ultimately, this stubbornness results in casualties that rival Ista's in their completeness. No matter the precautions taken by Weyr and Hold alike, Pern is coming apart at the seams.
Active Weyrs: Telgar, Eastern, Southern, High Reaches, and Fort.

Active Holds: Paradise River, Southern Boll, Crom, Nabol, Ruatha, Southern, Delta, Dorado, Ierne Island, High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Fisher, Glass-smith, Dolphineer, Harper, Healer, Minecraft, Printer, and Weaver.
2555 BR
Fall of Paradise River Hold. The Southern Continent is likewise being pounded by Threadfall, and the grubs fail to keep it under control as it comes down so heavily. The lower numbers of dragon riders in the region make it impossible to hold. Eastern Weyr is abandoned, and survivors disperse to other weyrs.
Active Weyrs: Telgar, Southern, High Reaches, and Fort.

Active Holds: Southern Boll, Crom, Nabol, Ruatha, Southern, Delta, Dorado, Ierne Island, High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Fisher, Glass-smith, Dolphineer, Harper, Healer, Minecraft, Printer, and Weaver.
2558 BR
Fall of Southern Boll and its Weaver and Glass-smith Crafthalls. Like the Holds before it, Southern Boll's steadily dwindling resources force it to close. The once lush tropical lands around the Hold and Crafthall are stripped almost completely bare by the Thread that the dragon riders fail to destroy. The western portion of the Northern Continent begins to truly feel the vice grip of the steadily nearing Thread.
Active Weyrs: Telgar, Southern, High Reaches, and Fort.

Active Holds: Crom, Nabol, Ruatha, Southern, Delta, Dorado, Ierne Island, High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Fisher, Dolphineer, Harper, Healer, Minecraft, and Printer.
2561 BR
Fall of Crom Hold and its Miner Crafthall. Telgar Weyr is abandoned, and survivors disperse to other weyrs. Already short on resources that some of the other Holds had previously taken for granted, Crom quickly buckles under Threadfall. Nevertheless, its denizens are not well-received in the already crowded Holds to the south. Even with catastrophic casualties all over Pern, the small amount of land left to the survivors threatens to prove inadequate.
Active Weyrs: Southern, High Reaches, and Fort.

Active Holds: Nabol, Ruatha, Southern, Delta, Dorado, Ierne Island, High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Fisher, Dolphineer, Harper, Healer, and Printer.
2563 BR
Fall of Nabol Hold. As conflicts begin to arise between the refugees and natives of the remaining Holds, fights break out over dissimilar interests and goals. In the case of Nabol, the dissension leaves them disorganized and suspicious. Casualties continue to pile up as a result of Thread, and Nabol alienates High Reaches Weyr after its Lord Holder accuses the dragon riders of being responsible for Pern's apparent apocalypse. While the dragon riders do not refuse to protect the Hold, it strains relations. Ultimately, the Hold's internal conflict brings it down and causes its Holders to abandon it in favor of evacuating to one of the few others remaining on the Northern Continent.
Active Weyrs: Southern, High Reaches, and Fort.

Active Holds: Ruatha, Southern, Delta, Dorado, Ierne Island, High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Fisher, Dolphineer, Harper, Healer, and Printer.
2564 BR
Fall of Ruatha Hold. Not long after Nabol closes its gates for the last time, Ruatha retreats to Fort Hold in order to consolidate what few resources are left, and diminish the strain on the Weyrs that remain to protect them. At last, the number of casualties has begun to ease the burden on Pern's resources.
Active Weyrs: Southern, High Reaches, and Fort.

Active Holds: Southern, Delta, Dorado, Ierne Island, High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Fisher, Dolphineer, Harper, Healer, and Printer.
2567 BR
Fall of Southern Hold, Delta Hold, Dorado Hold, and Ierne Island - and the Dolphineer Crafthall. Southern Weyr is abandoned, and survivors disperse to other weyrs. With so few people remaining on Pern, those on the Southern Continent decide to retreat north into Fort Hold and Weyr to consolidate their manpower and resources.
Active Weyrs: High Reaches and Fort.

Active Holds: High Reaches, Tillek, and Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Fisher, Harper, Healer, and Printer.
2568 BR
Fall of High Reaches Hold. Despite being relatively safe from Thread among its mountainous, rocky terrain, the downfall of High Reaches Hold is its isolation from the few remaining bastions of resources. Its holders unanimously decide to retreat from the Hold, scattering to Tillek and Fort as they see fit.
Active Weyrs: High Reaches and Fort.

Active Holds: Tillek and Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Fisher, Harper, and Healer.
2571 BR
Tillek Hold and its nearby Fisher Crafthall fall to Thread. Despite the efforts of High Reaches Weyr, the land around Tillek becomes too dangerous for those living there. Remaining survivors from it and High Reaches Weyr evacuate to Fort Weyr and Hold -- the last defensive stronghold on the northern continent.
Active Weyrs: Fort.

Active Holds: Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Harper and Healer.
2587 AR
End of 9th Pass in the first month, beginning of 9th Interval. The survivors at Fort Weyr and Fort Hold send out riders to assess the damage to the Northern Continent and deem it a loss. The next wave of riders is sent out to find a new home for the survivors that remains free of Thread. D'mir of Bronze Thianorth finds an island chain far to the west of the Northern Continent, claiming the largest and naming it Fort Island. Southern Winds Weyr is founded in the second month -- and every single person from both Fort Weyr and Fort Hold move in by the middle of month seven, leaving the Northern and Southern Continents completely abandoned. Kalestath's first clutch on the island yields a mysterious egg that hatches into Pern's first black dragon -- Neisoth -- who Impresses to S'bok.
Active Weyrs: Fort and Southern Winds.

Active Holds: Fort.

Active Crafthalls: Harper and Healer.
2589 AR
Present day. Kalestath has risen for another mating flight, and S'bok, rider of Black Neisoth, claims the position of Weyrleader. Now new eggs sit on Southern Winds' Hatching Sands, and the riders of the weyr speculate what other mutations might result from this peculiar coupling.
Active Weyrs: Southern Winds.

Active Holds: None.

Active Crafthalls: Harper and Healer; others marginally active.

Month 7

Summary:
Three of SWW's Wings -- Beach, Jungle, and Prairie -- are assigned to protection and construction detail at the new Hold site. The development on the Hold continues as Crafthalls negotiate with the Holders for space. Oriath clutches 15 eggs at the end of the month, but the celebration is overshadowed by the death of Jungle's Wingleader, S'tas.
Spoiler for Specific Dated Events & Links:
02 - Steward & Headwoman Nominations - OOC
Maeron calls together the Holders and asks for volunteers for the open position of Steward and Headwoman to help with the set up and construction of First Hold.
07 - Crafthall Decisions - OOC
At this meeting, Maeron will be discussing which Crafthalls will be given space first. Since they will be instrumental in the construction of the Hold itself, the Miners and Smiths will begin work first, in order to smooth the construction process as much as possible.
15 - Wing Assignments - OOC
With the construction of First Hold gearing up to move forward, the weyr leadership is looking for riders to guard and defend the workers who will be beginning construction at the base of the mountain. S'bok has called for a meeting with the Wingleaders and Weyrseconds, intending to collect the names of riders that the Wingleaders think will be good additions to the defense of the new Hold.
16 - Wing Announcements - OOC
Following the rumor-mill of the Wingleaders’ meeting with the Weyrleader, the Wing assignments have been posted in the Weyr Hall.
18 - Vorloruth's Flight - OOC
It's Niema's Vorloruth's time to fly and she's not too choosy about who might chase her -- Brown, Blue, or Bronze. She is caught by Berynth of K'mar.
20 - Vanity Clutches - OOC
Recently Impressed weyrling A'lori has a clutch of flit eggs to give away, dispersing them throughout interested parties about the Weyr.
26 - Oriath Clutches - OOC
Vanelwynne's Oriath finally lays her clutch, creating 15 new chances for Candidates to Impress. In two months time, the eggs will have hardened and they'll be able to Stand for Impression.
28 - Jungle Wing's Loss - OOC
That's right. S'tas, Jungle Wing's Wingleader, is dead -- lost trying to save Riders that were overrun by Hunters. This leaves a huge sense of defeat in the Wing, but the position of Wingleader open.
Month 8

Summary:
Jungle Wing elects a new Wingleader -- L'andis of Usidoth -- while Beach ferries people down to the new Mountain Base. Unfortunately, the hunters attack the base, killing twelve and injuring many more. Beach Wing gains a new Wingsecond, K'mar, in light of one of their former 'seconds, S'lar, being injured in the attack.
Spoiler for Specific Dated Events & Links:

Evesa's Seriath rises for her Flight late in the evening, after Beach Wing has returned from guarding First Hold. She is caught by Illoth of L'ale.
13 - Desolated Weyrs - OOC

14 - Renewed Construction - OOC
The riders, Holders, and Crafters are returning to the site of First Hold to continue construction. The wall around the site is partway finished, the Miners have begun to hollow out the caverns at the foot of the mountain, and farmland is being readied in the clearing.
24 - Lelath's Flight - OOC
Ishanae's Lelath rises for her second Flight, and she has a taste for Bronzers. She is caught by Polanth of M'rek
28 - First Coordinated Hunter Attack - OOC

30 - An Unfortunate Advance - OOC
Among those injured in the attack was S'lar of Aelsanth, one of Beach's Wingseconds. With the man in stable but critical condition, and the path of his recovery proving to be a long one, Wingleader M'rek has promoted K'mar of Berynth to take his place. It's unclear whether the appointment will be permanent.
32 - Darling's Flight - OOC
Jungle Wingrider T'hir's Darling has her Flight late in the evening, and she isn't choosy about the males who Fly her. She is caught by Jaenellia's Dash.

Eimerra's Imyth lays a healthy clutch of 13 eggs on the Hatching Sands.
02 - Rally the Holders - OOC
In the wake of the Hunter attack last month, Maeron calls a secret meeting to bolster the confidence of the Holders and once again call for the aid of the dragon riders. Faltering now is not an option, he argues, and he calls for the weyrleadership to once again send the Wings to defend construction.
04 - Returning to Construction - OOC
Maeron's push for support from the weyrleadership was successful. With the Wings' schedules having been altered accordingly, both Jungle Wing and Beach Wing will now trade guard duty at the site of First Hold.
10 - Korinth's Flight - OOC
T'hir's Korinth rises for her mating Flight late at night after Jungle Wing's duties have ended.

Mountain Wingrider L'del finds a large cache of well-preserved supplies important to the Fisher Crafthall and brings them back to the weyr.
16 - Vanity's Clutch Hatches - OOC

17 - Niazyth's & Tinth's Flights - OOC
Siblings Q'nys and Seaphonellqua's dragons rise at the same time, splitting the male dragons of the weyr with two Greens to chase at the same time. Niazyth chooses her winner, but Tinth demands a force catch and a worthy mate.
20 - Fishing Time - OOC
As food starts to become scarcer in the weyr, the Fisher Crafthall tables the idea that they need a real Hall. Only with the proper venue can they best make use of the supplies and resources they have to supplement the weyr's diet.
21 - Egg Touching & Rider's Bet II - OOC Egg Touching & OOC Rider's Bet
Now that the eggs have finished hardening, Oriath is allowing the Candidates to enter the Sands and touch the eggs -- an important ritual that takes place before each Hatching. Once the Candidates have cleared off the Sands, the riders and their dates gather to drink, celebrate, and bet on what colors will hatch from what eggs.
32 - Oriath'sClutch Hatches - OOC
Around lunchtime, Oriath and the other dragons start humming to indicate the arrival of the new hatchlings. The Candidates are quick to gather on the Sands, followed by those who want to spectate the Hatching. All 16 eggs hatch healthily and Impress without the mishaps of Kalestath's last clutch.
Month 10

Summarry:
D'mir, Weyrsecond through Imyth, is demoted without explanation. The Fisher Crafthall and Mountain Wing spend a day at the abandoned Crafthall near Tillek to gather supplies. Both hunters and beach snakes attack, though in the Hunter attack it's the wher that provide the alarm. Imyth's Touching finishes out the end of the Turn.
Spoiler for Specific Dated Events & Links:
1 - D'mir's Demotion - OOC
D'mir, rider of Bronze Thianorth and current Weyrsecond through his flight with Eimerra's Imyth has been demoted. The Weyrleadership has refused to give any specific reason for this sudden punishment and despite any and all questions, D'mir likewise refuses to comment. There is no IC thread for characters to participate in, this is simply an announcement that the whole of the Weyr will be quickly aware of. Feel free to check in with your characters however, and start rumors or conversations. You are more than welcome to create threads revolving around hearing this rumor or reacting to it.
3 - Desolated Halls - OOC
Since progress on the small Fisher Crafthall at Southern Winds is progressing smoothly despite the bad weather, the Fishers have called for the help of Mountain Wing to retrieve lost supplies from the abandoned Fisher Crafhall near Tillek Hold. In the interest of keeping a tight schedule, the Riders and Crafters alike have decided that a one-day, all-out expedition will be best for their purposes. As it stands, Master Fisher Phenust has been gathering Crafter, Weyrfolk, and Holdfolk volunteers to accompany the dragon riders on this day.
9 - Hunter Attack - OOC
Another Hunter attack. Surely, given the nice weather of the day it was almost bound to happen. But it wasn't Jungle's Riders that caught wind of the attack first, but the Crafter's Whers! Given their early alarm, the Riders have a chance to get one up on the Hunters. Most crafters were able to hide away in the Mountain base while the Riders chased away the Hunters.
13 - Dangerous Cove - OOC
Luck does not seem to be on the survivors’ side this month; in the wake of the Hunter attack, another fit of violence has erupted at the Cove where Beach Wing and Prairie Wing are helping the Fishers. This event will serve to drive home just how dangerous the island really is, and remind residents that even having a dragon is no guarantee of safety against the Snakes.
23 - Imyth's Touching & Rider's Bet III - OOC Egg Touching & OOC Rider's Bet
Thirteen eggs on the sands for the candidates to fawn over and the Riders to drink and take bets on. A small clutch from the younger Queen with a bit to prove. The bets weren't necessarily kind, but no one was willing to say anything untoward around Imyth herself.
36 - End of Turn - OOC
As the sun sets on the last day of 2589, the entire weyr begins its long nightly celebrations to welcome the new turn. Food rations have been lifted for the night to allow for a feast (or as much of one as the weyr can muster), and the remaining alcohol not consumed at the Rider’s Bets has been gathered for the festivities. This is one of the weyr’s only celebrations where everyone is invited—Holders, Riders, and Weyrfolk alike. Even Candidates and Weyrlings are allowed to attend:  though the Weyrlings are heavily suggested not to consume alcohol in order to keep from alarming their dragonets or making poor decisions because of lowered inhibitions.

Month 1

Summary:
The turn starts with another beach snake attack, killing many -- including one of Beach's Wingseconds, Iradin. In her place, Y'an is promoted. The next day, Imyth's clutch hatches but four dragonets go Between without Impressing. Kalestath rises and is again caught by Neisoth. S'bok then gathers some riders for a secret hunt in the jungle, without Halirina's knowledge. The Minehall opens officially, leading Maeron to call for laborers to help in the construction of the Hold.
Spoiler for Specific Dated Events & Links:
01 - The Morning After - OOC
It's a terribly foggy morning and the celebrants from the End of Turn Celebration wake up for another day on Pern. it's cold and early, but they take to their chores on the beach. It's there, with the lack of wind, that the Beach Snakes, have crept farther up on shore than they might have otherwise and launch an attack on the crafters, candidates assigned there for their morning chores, and the Riders there to supervise and protect. It's a disasterous morning after what was a grand End of Turn.
02 - Imyth's Clutch Hatches - OOC
Less than a day after the deaths of Candidates and Riders on the Beach, Imyth's clutch hatches early in the afternoon. The already ill-omened clutch proves to be the second disaster of the turn, with four of the thirteen dragonets going Between without Impressing.
05 - Kalestath's Flight - OOC
Bright and early, Kalestath wakes the entire Weyr with a roar to announce her Flight. She’s swift to Blood her kill, and even quicker to take to the skies, leaving any potential suitor very little time to scramble into their clothes, climb on their dragon to be dropped off in her weyr, and give chase. If anything, one would say Neisoth has a bit of a head start since S'bok is already there and Neisoth was chased off of the ledge early on.
08 - Vorloruth's Flight - OOC
Niema's Green Vorloruth takes to the skies for a Flight during lunchtime. She is caught by V'len's Bronze Redrenth.
12 - Secret Hunt - OOC
Early in the evening, after drills and duties for the day have been completed, S'bok calls a meeting of the Wingleaders with the intention of gathering volunteers for a hunt. Food is a scarce commodity in the Weyr and more than ever, every bit counts. He plans to take the jungle by storm and haul in more than they have before.
20 - Beginning of Mine Hall - OOC
While many people in the weyr think that the Hold construction is a pointless and dangerous waste of time, this event celebrates the real progress that has been made since the work began. While the Hold has yet to be made livable, the separate section of tunnels and caverns carved out for the Mine Hall has been completed. Now, Craftmaster Miner Castivill and the rest of his Crafters are hosting a gala to showcase what they’ve accomplished. Those attending will be treated to lunch at the Hall and can go on guided tours to see what has been built.
22 - Laborers Wanted - OOC
Maeron is drawing a clear line in the politics of the weyr now with construction moving forward. With the excitement of the Mine Hall Gala waning in the air, he's striking at the heart of the Weyr. He makes a move at the Weyrfolk, hoping to encourage some of them to 'become holders' and help out with the construction.
36 - Yumiath's Flight - OOC
Maerysa's Green Yumiath Rises late in the night.
Month 2

Summary:
S'bok arranges a second secret hunt. The Crafthalls, riding on the success of the Minehall, join together and push for increased recognition of all the crafts. With an influx of volunteers, they work on clearing the land around the Mine Hall. The noise and people attract hunters again, leading to massive casualities of riders, holders, and whers alike.
Spoiler for Specific Dated Events & Links:
04 - Eldereth's Flight - OOC
Late in the evening N'aen's Eldereth takes to the sky with a bugle of her own, announcing her Flight.
07 - Secret Hunt II - OOC
With the success of the last Secret Hunt still relatively fresh in the minds of the Weyr, the Weyrleader has called yet another, asking for volunteers to join in yet another late night hunt.
15 - Craft Halls Unite - OOC
In the wake of the successful Mine Hall opening, the Crafters have grown bolder in demanding recognition and supplies from the weyr. Master Miner Castivill and Master Fisher Phenust have struck an alliance in the interest of procuring both space and supplies. The two of them have already been passing word among the Crafters to find willing volunteers, but during this lunch they will be expanding their search and taking names of those who are either riders or wher handlers and willing to help them.
26 - Clearing Land at Mine Hall - OOC
With an influx of volunteers they’d gained during their push in the Weyr Hall, the crafters, holders, and weyrfolk alike are bound and determined to tear up a large portion of the jungle before Hunter activity can get too dangerous. However, the noise of their endeavor attracts the attention of the Hunters, resulting in the most coordinated and disastrous attack to date.
Month 3

Summary:
Halirina places the weyr on lockdown in light of the hunter attack. Riders will no longer provide support to the Hold or Crafts outside the weyr. Oriath Rises and is caught by Leremith. S'bok calls for a third secret hunt, broadcasting the order to the whole weyr. In light of all of this, the Fishercrafthall reveals their project: a dock and a larger ship to be used for fishing.
Spoiler for Specific Dated Events & Links:
1Weyr Lockdown
No one needs to be told the weyr is a mess after the last attack. Riders were injured, some severely, people were taken by the hunters, and a slew of wher were slaughtered. This has left the weyr in a state of - well, it's messy. This is an order coming down from Halirina, to the Wingleaders R'sin, M'rek, Z'tai, and even W'sar, and thus trickling down to the Rider's themselves. No one steps out of line, no one does any unauthorized flying. Riders stick to their schedules. No more babysitting at Mine Hall. Flights between the Hall and the Weyr are rather limited and only done if absolutely necessarily - approved by the Wingleaders themselves.
12Oriath’s FlightOOC
Midday around lunchtime, Vanelwynne’s Oriath bloods a kill and takes to the skies for her annual Flight. It’s in the midst of one of the busiest parts of the day that she Rises, meaning that any duties, drills, or chores typically taking place after lunch are delayed for another day at least. For many, this will mean a quick and awkward rush to weyrs and personal chambers before things become too heated. For those participating in the Flight itself, it will mean a dash to Vanelwynne’s weyr as their dragons seek to chase Oriath. B'ron of Leremith wins.
19Secret Hunt IIIOOC
The Weyr is on Lockdown. With the most recent tragedy at the Mine Hall fresh in the minds of every single person on the island, it's hard not to feel trapped and helpless. S'bok refuses to be one of the mindless wherry cowering before tragedy and loss and has called for another Secret Hunt. The call has gone out to the whole Weyr, direct from the Weyrleader and includes a less than gentle threat that those refusing to participate must either be injured and dying (he's not being very forgiving at the moment) or have been told to remain behind by a superior. As always he will actually concede to the decisions of the Wingleaders. However, he believes those refusing to participate for fear of Hunters or Halirina's wrath are cowards. The Weyr needs to be fed.
33Boat Construction UnveilingOOC
Despite the current tensions between Hold and Weyr, the efforts that previous cooperation have yielded were not in vain. As a result of the scouring of old Holds and Halls, as well as the (however ill-fated) endeavors to clear some trees at the edge of the jungle, there has been an influx of wood and supplies valuable to the Fisher Hall. With a rare surplus, the Fishers have been able to build an actual dock—albeit one—as well as an even more exciting project:  the first vessel bigger than a rowboat that has been seen on Pern in many Turns.
Month 4

Summary:
With the weyr lockdown now stretching into a month, tensions with the Holders reach a peak—resulting in a lunchtime riot in the Weyr Hall. A few days later, Halirina announces that Prairie Wing will be moving supplies and people between the Weyr and the Mine Hall. Imyth Rises and is caught by Maelboroth. Those at the Mine Hall begin building a wall around their cleared land, trusting the watchwhers to alert them before any Hunter attacks. Kalestath finally lays her clutch on the Sands—producing a total of 33 eggs.
Spoiler for Specific Dated Events & Links:
2Holder & Crafter TurmoilOOC
The weyr lockdown has yet to be lifted, meaning that it’s been over a month since anyone in the Weyr has had contact with the Mine Hall and vice versa. Tensions have been rising between the Holders and Crafters and the Riders, and come to a head when some of Jungle Wing’s riders are asked to break the lockdown and bring food to the Hall. Tempers flare to the point of violence, though the riot doesn’t last long before Halirina commands the riders to end it. Holders, Crafters, and Riders alike receive lashes for their involvement—including Junior Weyrwoman Eimerra, for directly defying Halirina.
4Weyr Duties to HallOOC
A few days after the riot, Halirina announces to Z'tai and the rest of Prairie Wing that they will now be responsible for moving supplies and people between Southern Winds and the Mine Hall. The riders will not be guarding the Holders or Crafters for construction, simply ferrying goods between the locations. Daily windows from 6-9AM and 2-3PM will be reserved for these duties.
7Imyth’s FlightOOC
Eimerra’s Imyth bloods a kill and Rises before the sun has even come up, meaning the day will largely be a lost cause for any productive work. After Eimerra’s shameful actions during the riot, as well as her Gold’s attempt to attack a Wingsecond’s dragon, most of Jungle Wing leaves Southern Winds to wait out the Flight at abandoned Fort Weyr. With fewer males chasing, it’s ultimately Brown Maelboroth that catches her; former Mountain Wingriders, he and X'kis are now the first Brown Weyrseconds in living memory.
16Wall Construction BeginsOOC
The riders of Southern Winds have made it clear that they will no longer be helping the Holders and Crafters with construction. However, this has only made the Holders more determined to live as independently from the weyr as possible. During lunch this day, Miner Craftmaster Castivill calls those at the Hall to begin building a wall around the cleared land outside their caverns. Knowing now that watchwhers can sense Hunters even before dragons can, it is believed that they can offer an early warning system to prevent attacks and casualties.
20Kalestath ClutchesOOC
In the afternoon, senior Gold Kalestath finally makes her way to the Hatching Sands to lay her clutch. She finishes late in the evening, and inhabitants of the Weyr come to pay their respects to her and Halirina. There are 33 eggs now on the Sands, and Candidates, Riders, and others alike are welcome to come look:  so long as they behave.
Month 5

Summary:
Midway through the month, the leaders of the Crafthalls reveal a project that they've been working on in secret -- research on the uses of bamboo. Since the fast-growing plant promises to be useful in a variety of ways, it is planted in the Weyr Bowl's fields to provide much-needed resources. A week later, the first wher hatching at Mine Hall is held; things take a turn for the interesting, however, when someone bonds to a second wher, which prompts a scramble of those looking to bond to their own. Toward the end of the month, Mountain Wing discovers a cache of supplies and tools at the long-abandoned Weaver Hall near Southern Boll.
Spoiler for Specific Dated Events & Links:
5Kyarsk’s RunOOC
Kyarsk is now fully grown and has her first Run. Her handler, Kyareena, elects to host it as a free Run. Kyarsk is caught by Quensk of Quenneca.
8Niazyth’s FlightOOC
In the evening, Niazyth of Q'nys rises for her Flight; it's open, but not a force catch. Niazyth is caught by Syrilth of I'ryn.
13Land PreparationsOOC
The leaders of the Crafthalls reveal that they're planting a new crop -- bamboo -- which will provide the weyr with much-needed and sustainable resources. All apprentices and Candidates have been commandeered from chores and classes so that work in the fields and preliminary planting can be finished in one day.
20First Wher Clutch at Mine HallOOC
The first wher clutch hatches at Mine Hall, and those living there hold an impromptu celebration to watch the Impressions. Things take a turn for the interesting, however, when someone already bonded to a wher successfully bonds to a second, forever changing what the Pernese thought they knew about the creatures.
23Vasalyth’s FlightOOC
After Jungle's drills end for the day, Esclamonde's Vasalyth rises for her Flight.
34New SuppliesOOC
Mountain Wing discovers a cache of tools and supplies at the abandoned Weaver Hall near Southern Boll, and apprentices and Candidates alike are press ganged into helping move it all to Southern Winds.
Month 6

Summary:
Early this month, Steward Prost makes the announcement at Mine Hall that Maeron has chosen Notkerric as his new Head Peacekeeper. With this pronouncement, the Peacekeepers are thus reformed and resume their duties protecting the Holders now living at the Hall. Later on, as Kalestath's clutch grows closer to hatching, the Candidates are escorted to the Sands for the traditional Touching ceremony. The Rider's Bet follows later that evening. At the end of this month, Kalestath's eggs hatch... with disastrous and controversial results.
Spoiler for Specific Dated Events & Links:
2Aryth's FlightOOC
Aryth of Jungle Wing takes to the sky in the evening and calls to interested males from Jungle Wing.
10Head Peacekeeper AppointedOOC
After almost two months of interviews, discussions, and deliberations, Maeron, Prost and Castivill have made their decision to appoint Notkerric to the position of Head Peacekeeper.
20Tressisk's RunOOC
Tressisk, Tresrissa's green wher takes to the run cavern in the mine hall for her locked run. She is caught by Yannusesk of Omenya.
22Egg Touching & Rider's Bet IVOOC Egg Touching & OOC Rider's Bet.
Kalestath's hatching is fast approaching so the Weyr takes to the hatching sands for two important traditions. The candidates are given the opportunity, now that the eggs are hardened sufficiently, to become more familiar with the clutch. Whether or not the egg touching is any more than a superstition, most of the candidates undertake the privilege with humility and a little bit of fear. The riders on the other hand, spend the night drinking and betting on which eggs will produce what, bringing along any Weyrmates and partners they see fit.
34Kalestath's Clutch HatchesOOC
Kalestath's clutch begins to hatch late in the evening, and reveals yet more of the infamous Red and Black dragons. Three Candidates are killed on the Sands, and many more are injured by the exuberant Reds. Even other young dragonets are injured by their aggressive Black siblings.
Month 7

Summary:
The month began with the run of Gold Rainsk at the Mine Hall, who was caught by visiting Bronze Nerihesk, it then continued throughout the month with a series of Green flights at the Weyr. Midway through the month, the Mine Hall was alerted to a potential Hunter attack, but due to the whers working on the wall perimeter, everyone was brought inside before tragedy occurred. At the end of the month, Oriath clutched, raising hopes for a less dangerous hatching, with the reminders of Kalestath's shown in the smaller numbers of candidates that take to the sands to look.
Spoiler for Specific Dated Events & Links:
1Rainsk's RunOOC
Rainsk's handler, Raindon, elects to hold his whers run at the mine hall as an Open Run. Rainsk is caught by Nerihesk of Neriherem.
8Hiakimth's FlightOOC
Weyrling Nalise's Green Hiakimth takes to the skies during lunch, calling for males to chase her. Hiakimth is caught by Xnyeth of Y'vis.
15Establishing Wall PerimeterOOC
The workers on the wall perimeter at the minehall are alerted to a potential hunter attack by the whers helping them. All those involved make it back inside the safety of the hall, narrowly avoiding hunter conflict.
20Rallekath's FlightOOC
In the wee hours of the morning, just as the first monsoon of Fall wreaks havoc outside, Iralye's Rallekath takes to the sky, calling for her those strong enough to brave the winds to chase her. She is caught by Adakhanyth of J'thir.
22Miravith's FlightOOC
Pythia's Miravith, one of the strong Mountain greens, wordlessly promises sunshine to he who catches her, a stark contrast to the drear and rainy day.
31Oriath's ClutchingOOC
Junior Gold Oriath of Vanelwynne, after a long and laborious clutching, beckons those of the Weyr to congratulate her on her newest clutch. Producing 17 eggs, smaller than Kalestath's clutching of a few months earlier, but none the less respectable for the Gold.
Month 8

Summary:
This month begins with an ill-fated omen, as Jungle Wingleader R'sin is killed trying to save a weyrling during a training accident. H'vier of Kadoreth is appointed in his place a few days later. Later in the month, the Fishers make a startling new discovery of a creature dubbed sharpfish, and that some people argue are actually shipfish -- but the weyr needs food, and the creatures show no signs of trying to communicate with humans. Imyth clutches late in the month, and adds 12 new eggs to the Sands.
Spoiler for Specific Dated Events & Links:
1Jungle Curse ContinuesOOC
In the rain of mid-afternoon a catastrophe during Weyrling Training takes the life of a young green rider, Ny'la of Ilaroth, and the Jungle Wingleader R'sin of Dekkath who flew to her rescue. Both dragonpairs were dragged between and did not return.
3Xasheyth's FlightOOC
A young green's croon punctuates the early hours of the morning as Nishi's Xasheyth takes to the sky for her maiden flight.
7Arrobesk's RunOOC
Snarling and huffing kitchen worker Arrobella's gold wher takes to the run cavern in the Mine Hall, and those who read her notice answer the call.
16New Food SourceOOC
A commotion has stirred on the beach of the Weyr, as a new kind of animal has been pulled from the waters of the cove. Mutters of shipfish and sharpfish echo around the group and the fisher's must decide what to do about this new potential food source which looks eerily familiar to their dolphin companions of old.
28Imyth's ClutchingOOC
Junior Gold Imyth of Eimerra successfully lays her clutch before lunchtime; despite being caught by X'kis' Maelboroth, she lays what is, for her, a standardly-sized clutch numbering 12 eggs.
30Weskath's FlightOOC
This time it's Zilanie and Weskath's turn for their maiden Flight. The young Green rises late in the night amid heat lightning.
Month 9

Summary:
Early in the month, the entire population participates in the first Gather in living memory. It's an all-day affair that takes place in the Weyr Bowl, and everyone's encouraged to get along and enjoy the festivities. Midway through, Oriath's Egg Touching and Rider's Bet is held. The clutch hatches late in the month with 17 new healthy weyrlings -- and no mutations. The last event of the month actually takes place in 2576, as SWW's first past event:  a Threadfall.
Spoiler for Specific Dated Events & Links:
3Mend the BondsOOC
With a small surplus of food with the fall harvest, the Weyr Leadership decides to hold a Gather with the collaboration of the Crafthalls. All are invited and encouraged to attend and take part in the games and festivities.
15Egg Touching & Rider's Bet VOOC Egg Touching & OOC Rider's Bet
Oriath’s eggs have now been on the Sands long enough for the Touching, signaling that the clutch is close to hatching. Early in the afternoon, Candidate Master O'sir leads the Candidates to the Hatching Sands for this traditional ceremony. And once the Candidates have cleared out of the Sands by evening, it's time for the Rider's Bet. This party is by invitation only unless you're a rider, but it does include alcohol, food, and the chance to bet marks on what's going to hatch out of which egg.
16Deltiath's FlightOOC
After Wing duties are done for the day, A'yara's Deltiath Rises to be chased. She is caught by Polanth of M'rek.
17Darsk's RunOOC
Peacekeeper Daresik's Darsk instigates a locked run once duties are done for the day at Mine Hall. She is caught by Evesk of Everalsie.
25Oriath's HatchingOOC
Early on this rainy morning, Oriath's clutch decides to hatch. It yields 17 healthy weyrlings with only a few minor injuries from clumsy dragonets.
32Silver RainOOC
This is SWW's first past event! While this advances the timeline up to this date in 2590, the event itself is a Threadfall shift in 2576.
